About Laura Mealy

We are originally from Western, PA and spent our summers along the Juniata River. We currently live in Leesburg, VA.

Laura Mealy purchased this house in 2007

Why Laura Mealy chose Pennsylvania

We have loved this beautiful area all of our lives, so we bought property and built our modest home in 2007. It's a wonderful place for nature enthusiasts and family vacations.

What makes this house unique

This area is a slice of heaven that you will not find elsewhere. If you want to get away from it all but enjoy the comforts of home, this is the place for you!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thank you so much for sharing your home away from home. Your house was just lovely, very clean and had everything we needed. This house is warm and cozy for a winter get away, with beautiful views of the river. We enjoyed dinner at Jean Bonnets as you suggested and it was really wonderful too! We look forward to returning soon!

If you are looking for a location slightly off the beaten path, this is it. We were visiting family and it accommodated our family of 7 very well. We even saw snow on our last morning. We found it to be comfortable, with the exception of one of the mattresses, which needs to be replaced. The owner has been advised and promised to check out the mattress. We appreciated the towels & sheets that were provided, since we were flying. There are about 2 flights of steps to get into the house (as pictured), so that is something to consider if physical limitations are an issue. There is a nice fire pit, great kitchen area, laundry facilities, small family room, 3 bedrooms, & 2 baths. While we didn't bring a pet, the yard is fenced in.

I'm sure it's beautiful in the fall and spring. Lots of fishing and outdoor activities available for warmer weather.

Beautiful spot and lovely house

  • 5 of 5

What a beautiful spot and lovely house! We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and hope to return. My husband spent many happy hours on the river and we enjoyed walking, relaxing and the fall foliage festival.

The covered deck was perfect when it rained and we loved using the fire pit. Our daughter and her friend hugely enjoyed the swings and playing with our dog in the fenced in yard. All in all, a treat of a weekend getaway. Thanks!!

This place was a great home away from home. The house has all of the luxuries of home but yet you have a great location for the the outdoors. Something for everyone. Fishing, walking, playing cornhole, having a fire and roasting marshmallows. It was great! We will definitely be back. Thanks!!!

Fun Time

  • 5 of 5

Spent the week with our two grandchildren and dog, had a great time. The house was well stocked and maintained and the owner was very accessible. The river provided a fun and educational experience for the children with crayfish, tadpoles, and turtles easily caught examined and returned to their natural environment. Evenings spent around the fire pit with plenty of stars overhead and wildlife to listen for provided an unforgettable experience for all. The fenced in front yard was a big plus for keeping both the grandchildren and the dog within reach. We had a great time and expect to return in the future.

My family and I were so pleased to arrive at this beautiful well maintained prooperty! We had an amazing time using the river with our kayaks and playing games in the fenced in yard! The evenings were so serene around the campfire listening to the river flow and the sounds of nature! Also, it was so nice to retreat for the night in the comforts of home! This property was beautiful inside and out! The owners were great to work with and were available to answer any of our questions! You can tell they take pride in their property! We are looking forward to scheduling our vacation here for next year!!
