The essence of Hawaiiana is embodied in the décor, architecture, beautiful view and gardens of Mahina Surf 205. Free parking and free high speed Wi-Fi are provided to unit 205’s guests. We are one of only 56 units on two levels in this tranquil setting. The recent addition of a Photovoltaic Solar system, hidden from view, furnishes over 100% of the electricity used in our condo’s common areas. Located right on the oceanfront, with westward views of Molokai and Lana’i, unit 205 is the perfect spot to enjoy the pool while whale watching (typically December-March), observe the resident sea turtles or watch surfers ride the waves at adjacent S-turns surf spot. Barbequing on one of the oceanfront grills at sunset is a treat you will cherish!
Our condo is just 5 minutes south of Kapalua’s golf courses, zipline, beaches and dining, and 5 minutes north of Ka’anapali resort’s golfing, shopping, restaurants and beach. We are just 10 minutes north of Lahaina town, with its harbor, restaurants, shave-ice and ono gelato, and nightlife, including Friday night “art walk”. The location is near the best of what west Maui has to offer!
Mahina Surf 205 is located on the second level, overlooking the pool and with views of the ocean and island of Lana’i from our deck – a great place for a morning cup of coffee or to watch the beautiful sunsets, from its table or comfortable chairs. Inside the new sliding glass door and windows, the living area features great views, plus a queen sleeper sofa, loveseat, a coffee/game table as well as a TV, stereo and free high speed Wi-Fi; and a dining table and chairs.
Those who enjoy cooking will love the new, fully appointed kitchen, with granite countertops, new cabinets and appliances - stainless fridge, range, oven and microwave and a super-quiet dishwasher. An updated, full bathroom with tub and tiled shower separates the kitchen from the master bedroom, which has a queen bed with bedside tables and lamps, a chest of drawers and a large closet with programmable safe. Brand new jalousie (louvered) windows allow you to enjoy the breeze and to be lulled to sleep by the sound of surf.
Upstairs, the second bedroom loft has two twin beds (or together to make 1 king bed) with bedside table and lamp, a full chest of drawers, and a second full bathroom with a tub and tiled shower, plus lots of additional closet space.
Throughout the unit, we've chosen furnishings and artwork that we enjoy, and make us feel at home here. We've included books about the wildlife and the area, as well as Hawaii Regional Cuisine cookbooks, and some fun family games. You should also find folding beach chairs, and soft coolers, to help you enjoy your days at the beach.
If unit 205 is occupied during your choice of times, please visit unit 206 vrbo #498375 as a possible option.
We hope you enjoy our island home!
Hi, we are Mark & Sally and family, owners of Mahina Surf 205. We own and manage a specialty packaging and printing business in Seattle, which focuses on the candy, food and beverage industries. We have three high school and college-age kids who have loved coming to Mahina Surf as they've grown up. We enjoy family time, traveling, playing tennis, fly fishing, cooking and great food!
Tammy purchased this condo in 2002
We have been coming to Mahina Surf since 1986, and never tire of the many things to do nearby! Sometimes we enjoy simply relaxing on the tranquil property. Within 15 minutes of our condo, we enjoy snorkeling at Kapalua Bay; tennis at the free (and in great condition) Lahaina civic center courts; surfing at S-turns, Ka’anapali or Lahaina breakwater; family golf at the 3-hole Kapalua mini-course, or Frisbee golf; hiking; going for gelato or shave-ice in Lahaina… For adventure further afield, a day trip to upcountry, Paia’s shops and cafes, Ho’okipa to watch windsurfers, or Haleakala crater are all fun activities. We love the location, the nearby opportunities and the weather, here.
We love the views from our condo – the pool, palm trees, ocean, and Lana’i – and its location away from the parking and roadway. Being on the second level also means nobody walking overhead at 6am… We recently remodeled the kitchen with granite countertops, cabinets and new appliances. Our furnishings are of a tasteful, Hawaiian theme, and we feel really comfortable here. Being able to walk to water’s edge to view the turtles, watch surfers riding waves, enjoy Maui’s most beautiful grounds and pool, and barbeque right at oceanfront, make this the most spectacular place imaginable!
My family have vacationed in Maui for the many years and always stay at Mahina Surf. We enjoy the quiet setting and beautiful surroundings. We have stayed in many units and this unit is very nice and well equipped. Our family of four, were very comfortable with the layout and spent every meal out on the lanai. Not having A/C did not effect our comfort. The open windows and fans kept us very comfortable. At night, the surf hitting the rocks, lulls you to sleep. The best part of Mahina Surf is getting away from the "tourism" atmosphere. You feel like you are home, in paradise.
My husband and I found our unit very clean and even with no A/C, the ceiling fans and open windows kept the unit very comfortable. We loved listening to the surf at night. We talked to several guests who said they return year after year and we can see why.
This is not the place for those who need structure like a big resort but for those who like to make their own fun, this is perfect! We took a walk every morning, then a quick dip in the pool before breakfast.
We loved having a full kitchen and eating our meals on our lanai and watching the whales, we saw several anytime we looked toward the water!
We would have loved to stay longer than the 2 nights that were available but have already reserved for next year since we hope to attend Whale Tales again. Tammy has been very responsive to my emails about next year.
We were very late reserving lodging but Tammy and her staff were very helpful fitting us in. We arrived rather late but the method the staff uses for getting late guests situated works well.
This condo is a great value for families. The beds are comfy and the view is nice. The kitchen is great and overall the place was pretty clean. There is a pool in the middle of the property that all units look out on, and during our visit the pool was full of kids having fun for most of the day. This makes the place ideal for families. It's not ideal for couples looking for quiet during the day and that's the reason I only gave three stars. There is quiet hour from ten to 8 AM and most people were respectful of that. The ladies at the front desk were very nice, another plus.
We had five adults in our group--2 parents and 3 adult children. We arrived very late at night but our keys were ready for our pick up just as we were told they would be. We appreciated this since we were tired and ready to get some sleep. The unit had a great view of the ocean and overlooked the pool area. It all looked very tropical and festive. Our unit was very clean upon our arrival. I give it 4 starts instead of 5 because my husband said that he saw ants along the floorboards of a wall but I didn't see them. We appreciate the location--close to places to eat and in easy driving distance of other area activities. We used the laundry facilities which were clean and easily accessible. There were sea turtles that frequented the waters off the short of the condo units--pretty cool. We would definitely stay at Mahina Surf again--very nice!
