About owner/property manager
We were married in 2010 which left us owning 2 homes. We currently live in Cornelia, Georgia, just about 17 miles from this beautiful mountain home. My husband grew up in Illinois and lived in Tampa for 40+ years. He retired and built his dream mountain home in 2001. I grew up in Cornelia, Georgia, and have lived here all my life. I still work as a local realtor and love this beautiful area of the south that I call home. So, if you decide you would like to live here, I can help you with that, too! We are usually nearby, so if you encounter any difficulties, we are available to help.
owner/property manager purchased this House in 2001
Why owner/property manager chose Clarkesville
All the years that my husband was working in Tampa, he and his family always traveled in and around NE Georgia. He bought the land this home is constructed on in 1987 and looked forward to the day he could call this area home. This was his dream come true when he built this home.
What makes this House unique
The mountain view was the major attraction for my husband. When he was looking at this land he actually climbed trees to see what the view would be from the house site. Add to that a safe and quite community and he had found what he was looking for.

Nice large property
We stayed 3 nights for local wedding. The home was very large and spacious, you could have cooked Thanksgiving dinner there in the fully equiped kitchen. We loved the large back porch overlooking the water. There is long boardway going down to kayak and jon boat. I was glad I took a paddle board with me, water was so quiet and smooth. We liked that you can pull right up to front door and unload car and there was plenty of parking. As others have said, one of the double beds is uncomfortable, but my daughter just went up to loft bedroom instead. The Loft bedroom has a door so it is private and quite. We had a nice meal at Copper Pot just inside Clarkesville.
We had a blast exploring the local area, then coming back to an amazing lake to play on and home cooked dinners. I would recommend mending the railing on the stairs immediately off the main deck to the lower level.( they moved a lot and I thought it was coming apart at one point)
Less than what I expected
This is a lot of house to maintain. Updated Kitchen floors and counters with older appliances. Master bedroom door was loose on its hinges and dragging the floor. I did do a minor repair by shimming the screw holes because it was annoying. Outer deck is showing its age with warped, loose, and weathered boards. This was also the first that I was required to pay $59 dollar non refundable damage insurance for a house in need of repair. Will not be back. Sorry
Family getaway trip
The scenery was beautiful, thanks for allowing us to stay at your home.
Better than the pictures!!
Wish we could have stayed at least another day! Beautiful home! Loved sitting on the deck each morning, reading and listening to all the sounds of morning!
Very nice and comfortable home. It's too bad other renters don't clean up after themselves and cause problems for the owners. The only thing we felt was that the back porch need some sprucing up and cleaning. It's such a nice location and beautiful porch but it looked like it hadn't been cared for in awhile. We did have a relaxing time though!
We are located 6 miles North of Clarkesville, on Ga. Hwy 197, in the beautiful mountains. When you enter the front door, you will be wowed by the view from the wall of windows at the back of the living room. The living room opens to the back porch and decks that span the width of the home. Enjoy your morning coffee, evening cocktails or your meals while taking in the lake & mountain views. Our home sits on a man-made lake, so bring your fishing poles! We have a dock that makes it easy to sit back & wait for a bite! The home features an open floor plan that allows for great gatherings, even while preparing meals in the totally equipped kitchen with granite countertops. The vaulted ceiling and floor to ceiling windows give you a feeling of spaciousness as thou you are in the great outdoors. With 3 Bedrooms and a loft, you can easily sleep 8! Two full baths are located on the main floor & one half bath is located in the basement with the recreation room that hosts a pool table, dart board and a wet bar. Direct TV and DSL are also provided. No reason to be bored here! We are just 14 miles from beautiful Lake Rabun where you can launch your boat for a great time on the lake. Or, you can drive in the heart of the mountains & discover all kinds of hidden treasures like Mark of the Potter and the Cottage Garden Gift Shop. NE Georgia towns like, Clarkesville, Helen, Cleveland, Clayton & Hiawassee are nearby so there is no shortage of places to eat and things to do. We'll even leave you a list of our favorite restaurants! Clarkesville is only 6 miles away with a new Ingles Grocery store that has a great selection of beer & wine as well as a Starbucks Coffee Shop. Clarkesville also offers The Old Clarkesville Mill which houses, antiques, a restuarant and a bowling alley. Some of the best restuarants you can find are located in Clarkesville. There's The Attic, Copper Pot, Midtown Grille, Hawg Wild BBQ, and Sweetbreads just to name a few. The alpine village of Helen is only approximately 17 miles away with bavarian shops & restaurants , 3 wineries, antiques and Unioci State Park featuring Anna Ruby Falls (It's an easy hike. We did it this fall with a 4 and 2 year old.) There is great hiking, fly fishing, golfing, tubing, zipline and other outdoor activites just a few miles away.
