There is ample room for a family dinner, a game of cards or a quiet movie in front of the fireplace. Mountain views surround! All this while the home maintains its Old West, small-town appeal. The famous Arkansas River lurks just out of view but across the street!

THE GREEN DOOR is completely furnished, with all the modern conveniences: flat screen televisions (2) with satellite, wireless internet, a fully appointed kitchen, all new appliances: refrigerator/freezer with filtered water/ice, microwave, dishwasher, gas range and oven, toaster oven and wine cooler. About Vada J Ward, Owner

Our family has spent most of our lives in Colorado and we love it more every day. After a two-year search for the 'perfect' spot to share with my grown children and grandchildren - and to retire within the splendor of the Rocky Mountains, I fell instantly in love with Salida. What's not to love? - The amazing Arkansas River, the architecture, the thriving downtown with only ONE traffic light, the nearby sulpher pools, the endless outdoor activities, the safety and freedom for children to explore everywhere, and the quiet, quiet, quiet neighborhoods...................Ah, happiness is a short walk to the river, a good book, a roaring fire, fresh air, and the gorgeous surrounding mountain scenery.

Vada J Ward, Owner purchased this house in 2013

Why Vada J Ward, Owner chose South Central

This particular property was studied carefully before the purchase became reality. The home is wholly on one floor with wide passages from room to room. It's even wheelchair accessible! It's easily cared for; it's totally remodeled, all the fixtures and appliances are new (and most of the furnishings). It's sparkling clean throughout! Yet, it retains that Old West flavor which speaks eloquently for Salida itself.

What makes this house unique

The home sits on a double lot and by Spring will begin to be professionally landscaped beyond the patio and pergola to the garage. There is plenty of room to spread out: room for the unique oversized two-car garage with shaded porch and a view of the mountains; room for the largest RV; and more space for added growth. There's even room for the daily visiting deer! Walk across the street and throw your fishing line in the Arkansas River!

Fantastic

  • 5 of 5

The Green Door house is charming and set up perfectly! We were two families with young kids and the house was great for both adults and kids. Very well stocked kitchen, radiant heat in both bathrooms, lots of games, nice outdoor patio with pergola and BBQ. Easy walk into downtown Salida and about 30 minutes to Monarch ski resort.

House is adorable. Very updated and comfortable. There's and outdoor patio surrounded by beautiful flowers and plants. We saw deer right out our door! It was a fabulous place to stay

Property is within walking distance of downtown Salida so we rarely used our car.

We loved the Green door! Perfect location, beautiful, clean, cozy home away from home!

  • 5 of 5

We would highly recommend this property. We were a family of six and had plenty of room. We even cooked a gumbo one night and had friends over who were also vacationing in Salida. The location is perfect! Walking distance to downtown and right on highway that leads to Buena Vista or Hwy 50. We rode the bikes all over Salida that Mrs. Ward so generously allowed us to use. (In the garage). The house is so cozy and beautiful! We loved the patio and grilled one night. (Also had friends over that night). There were plenty of towels for everyone. She also provided us with BIG towels that we used when we went to Princeton Hotsprings. We will return to the Green Door!

Still love Salida! The Greendoor is a great place to set up camp.

  • 4 of 5

The Greendoor provided everything we needed in our family of 6. My two young girls loved to play on the patio, watch for frequent visiting deer, and relax on the couch to some TV! Temperatures were warm in Salida (mid 80's) so the house was very warm at night, even with fans and windows open. The bathrooms were awesome! One has a clawfoot tub and the other an updated shower. The kitchen is fully updated with great appliances for any type of cooking. The owner and manager (Paco) made the stay feel like we were very valued customers. The only negatives we're the noise and heat. The house is right on a busy main Street in Salida, so we constantly had motorcycle and semi truck noise. If you are looking for a house in town and just a walk away from shops, restaurants, and the river the Greendoor is a great find.

Lovely

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful long weekend in Salida over Memorial Day. The Green Door was perfect for our family of 5. Being so close to the path along the river was awesome. We enjoyed some lovely walks while the kids rode their bikes. It was the perfect location for anything we wanted to do downtown as well. The owners and manager were extremely responsive if we needed anything at all. Thanks again for a great stay! We will be back!
