Enjoy authentic Montana hospitality at the Cabin in the City. Steps from the university, stocked with local beer, you'll live like a local but enjoy the amenities of a hotel. The property comes with two off-street parking spaces (a rarity this close to campus) and a warm atmosphere nestled in the University District, a leafy neighborhood of century-old bungalows, and views of the nearby mountains and river.
Completely renovated, the cabin features a full kitchen, living room, and bedroom. The living room couch pulls out to make a bed sleeping two, and the queen-sized bed in the bedroom also accommodates two. This is a cozy property reminscent of a small cabin in the woods, and the cedar panelling and warm atmosphere reflect that. Heat is provided by an electronic, automated gas stove, conveniently keeping the cabin toasty warm while imparting the ambiance of an old-fashioned woodstove. Air conditioning is also provided upon request in the summer.
Guests can enjoy all the amenities of the university due to its location just down the street while also taking advantage of the dining, drinks, and attractions of the University District and Missoula. Less than 100 yards away is Food for Thought, famous among students and locals alike for its good breakfasts, coffee, sandwiches, and takeout options. Two blocks south is Buttercup Cafe and Market, featuring locally-sourced breakfasts and lunches, an espresso bar, and a selection of beer, wine, and prepared meals for takeout.
The M trail is on the other side of campus and offers the quintessential local hike. Nights with nice weather bring Missoulians in droves to watch the sunsets. The Rattlesnake Wilderness trailhead is a 10 minute drive away, offering access to hundreds of miles of trails. The banks of the Clark Fork River are a few blocks north of the cabin. We'd be happy to loan out some innertubes to float the river. On warm days it'll seem like half the town is doing it. You should too.
The owner lives in the adjacent property and is on hand whenever needs arise, and would be more than happy to provide any help guests require, along with restaurant, trail, or fishing recommendations and directions.
You won't find anywhere in Missoula with our level of hospitality, comfort, and proximity to the university. The cabin would be perfect for a long weekend, travelers stopping by Missoula, vacationers, or those needing longer-term housing options.
Tom was very responsive & helpful to any questions I had. I also traveled w/ my small dog & it was easy to attend to her exercise & personal needs!
In addition to this being a charmingly designed and decorated space we found the location to be superb.
The owner responded with warmth and friendliness (and amazingly quickly) to inquiries.
We really enjoyed staying at the "Cabin in the City!" Our son just started attending the University of Montana, and we had to stay close to help him move in, process all the paperwork, & attend his Orientation, so we stayed the week and went to the football game Sat too! It was a great cabin with everything we needed, and only a block or two from campus!!! And we could buy groceries at the local Albertson's & eat breakfast and lunch there, and not have to go out for every meal. It was a wonderful trip in a great location!

The location of this rental, in close proximity to the University of Montana, is hard to beat. It's possible to walk or ride a bike in every direction to find a great meal, fun activity, or entertainment. Owner communicates clearly and consistently in writing, following up with a phone call. There were four of us, three adults and a preteen. The pullout was fine for two average-sized adults. All things considered, a great value in a quiet neighborhood.
This was a great place to stay - short walk to downtown, river trail system, breweries and restaurants. Great alternate to a hotel, had everything we needed.
My wife and I took our oldest sun to visit the University of Montana and this was the perfect home-base for that. Literally steps from campus, it was nice to just walk over there and not have to find parking. The cabin is decorated and set up perfectly as a little Montana cabin in the city. Off-street parking and a quaint neighborhood make this an ideal in-town hotel alternative. We will definitely be coming back!!!
