The Samaniego House is located within walking/biking distance of many of Tucson's museums and other unique destinations, including La Pilita Museum, Tucson Museum of Art, the Mi Tiradito Wishing Shrine, Santa Cruz River Park, and the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA). Well-known restaurants nearby include Cafe Poca Cosa, Little Cafe Poca Cosa, El Minuto, Cushing Street Bar and Restaurant, and Penca.

Located within a short drive are the University of Arizona, Gate's Pass, South Tucson, Mission San Xavier del Bac, Tucson Mountain Park, and the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum.

Another fun destination is Santa Theresa Tileworks, a nearby studio, workshop and retail outlet owned by local artist Susan Gamble.

Tucson's new modern streetcar, projected to begin operations in summer 2014, will feature a stop located within easy walking distance from the house. For the cost of bus fare, the streetcar will connect downtown Tucson to the Mercado San Agustin, 4th Avenue District and the University of Arizona.

Owner info

Year Purchased: 1991

About the owner: I manage this property with the help of family members, including Bob the Parrot - who was on board for the construction of the house in 1991. He won't be included in the rental, however! Joanne

Why the Owner Chose Barrio Viejo, Tucson, AZ, USA:
My husband, the late Tucson architect Bill Mueller, masterfully designed and built this adobe home while managing to preserve the mature mesquite tree on the small lot. Family, friends, and local artisans all pitched in to turn the house into a unique treasure in the Barrio Viejo neighborhood. I look forward to sharing with you all the love and care that have gone into making this an exquisite home!

The Unique Benefits at this House:
Quoted from previous renters: 'We can easily say this place was the best home we have ever rented. It has a great layout, awesome vibe, and unique character and attention to detail. The neighborhood is close to everything we love: downtown, 4th Avenue and the university. Our time here has left us with fond memories with our friends and family.'
