'This was outstanding'
It will be impossible to say enough or put into words what a great place this is!
Kathy has created a home that is not only equipped beautifully but it's also such a wonderful warm fun experience. The pictures do not do it justice. You can rent a place beautifully decorated but it's rare to find a rental that gives such a great positive vibe and is so delightful to occupy.
We did not want to leave. There are tiny joys and surprises around every corner of the house. It's a photographers dream and a traveler's delight. We give this 10 stars and our big hug to Kathy.
Clean, quiet, convenient, beautiful, fascinating...and sooo charming!
We hope we'll be lucky enough to stay here again. Don't pass up the opportunity to stay here!

Why Kathy Nalven chose South Fort Lauderdale
This area of Fort Lauderdale remains untouched by development, yet it is central to everything. It is a pocket of land surrounded by inland canals and waterways with mature oak and palm trees. There are manatee in the canal, beautiful and magnificent water fowl and wading birds. Giant woodpeckers and multiple species of South Florida birds. A completely private pool with sitting areas on the canal.

A Treat of a Retreat
My wife and I were lucky enough to find this wonderful home in Fort Lauderdale. It was located on a private road and provided a great getaway from the commotion of traffic and crowds. Its spacious interior, huge porch, and salt water pool were fabulous, but the real clincher was the drainage canal located on the edge of the property. We could have sat there all day and evening watching the jumping fish, ducks, Night Herons, Pileated Woodpeckers, Parrots, Iguanas, etc. What a treat for birders.
Since we also golf, we played several rounds at the nearby Plantation Preserve course - a fantastic layout that's also a site for the second stage Web.com tour. And as birders, on non-golf days there's a preserve running right down the middle of the course where you'll see great flora and fauna.
The house was well suited for cooking, which for us worked out perfectly after a day of golf or birding/photography. We were able to fix meals that suited us perfectly. What was difficult for us was leaving the place. We had days where we just couldn't tear ourselves away from the calm and quiet of the retreat.
The house is filled, and I mean filled, with antiques, interesting pieces, and photos/pictures. There wasn't a day that went by that we didn't discover something new and interesting. One of us would say, "Did you notice THIS before?"
The location lent itself to exploring the Everglades, Butterfly World, and world-class birding sites like Wakodahatchee, Green Cay, and Loxahatchee Wetlands. Those places at dawn were remarkable.
Finally, the nearby owner, Kathy, and her family were so welcoming and hospitable. We truly felt we made some wonderful friends. We had booked the home for one month, and my only complaint was that we didn't stay longer. It was so inviting and homey.
I highly recommend the home for a family gathering, and also for a couple's retreat.
I am the lucky one. I got to meet my new friends. I wish they lived closer.
Great vacation and super convenient!
We had a great week long stay at Kathy’s house. It is a large ranch style home with three bedrooms and a nice open style floor plan. The kitchen is updated and well stocked. The tv got some use with my two kids and after the kids went to bed. The master bedroom is huge and looks out to the pool and canal area. The house feels very private and we enjoyed driving short drives to several different beaches. My husband and I also enjoyed a dinner out in South Beach. It was nice being able to explore different beaches in the area and not having to drive far! The actual area where the house is seems to be somewhat mixed, with more expensive properties mixed in with older not updated properties. We found Kathy to be super helpful and she even gave us a ginger bread house for my two kids to use, which was very sweet. The really cool unique thing about the house was the art and photography that fills the house. Some of it was not my taste but on the whole it felt very cool and artistic. I liked the antiques too including the swing. Overall very comfortable and enjoyable stay. The only things that kept me from giving the property five stars was that the floor was sort of dirty when we got there, and even after they were cleaned again (after I asked Kathy to have them cleaned) they still seemed somewhat unclean, but better. Second thing was the shower light in the master bathroom was not working, and I asked Kathy about it and she said that she kept the light bulb out because people tend to leave it on when they rent it out. That’s understandable but we like to shower at night afternoon being out all day and it got sort of dark in there so I would have appreciated a light in there. Other than those things, we really enjoyed our stay and Kathy was very responsive and a great hostess. We didn’t use the pool because we actually ended up using the beach most days, but I think it would be better in summer when it’s hotter out. We thought it was fun out by the canal and my husband and girls saw a manatee one morning! Thank you Kathy for a great stay.
Unique and delightful!
Staying in this property was a once in s lifetime experience. The grounds were amazing and the pool superb. The interior was fascinating and the furnishings comfortable. The kitchen was very well stocked and the appliances were top of the line. Kathy is a wonderful hostess and went above and beyond what would be the norm to make our stay enjoyable. Five stars!!!
Great place.. Great host. Greeted us at the door showed us the ins and outs of the place. Offered suggestions on where to go. Very private place. Would stay again

What a wonderful home this is. Beautifully decorated with lots of love, the house is comfortable, quiet and makes for a relaxing time. Kitchen and bathrooms are very modern and are equipped with everything anyone could need. It's tucked away down a private street, but close enough to shopping and restaurants if needed. An oasis of tranquility. Thank you, Kathy, for all that you did to make my stay productive, pleasant and fun.
