Come live the Ralph Lauren life in our family home in Falmouth Heights, Cape Cod! Live like the Kennedys in one of the largest lots on Falmouth Heights.
Showcasing as an easy, relaxing and upscale home on the Heights “For Rent by Owner.” You will be dealing with the actual owners of the property... no management companies involved!
This quiet neighborhood is a secret in Falmouth, relaxing and quiet while having all the amenities the Cape has to offer! Nestled between the harbor and the beach, you will be lulled to sleep by the sound of the fog horn in the distance.
Our home has a rich history and has been in the Palmer family since being built in 1893. You will see why we love our spacious, breezy, wrap-around porch and enjoy the relaxed mornings. You will appreciate the clean and clutter-free atmosphere and style of the house.
Simplify your vacation! Our Heights house is a 15 minute walk to Main Street shopping, 5 minutes by bike. Walk in 5 minutes to the iconic Martha’s Vineyard Ferry – The Island Queen. The house is a 4-5 minute walk to the beach. Starbucks, British Beer Company, the Shanty and Holiday Cycles are all less than 5 minutes away as well.
There is now space and multiple tables for outdoor eating, grilling or a clam bake. Perfect for family gatherings. Our home is 100% family friendly for (supervised and well behaved) children. Unlike most houses in the Heights, we have space away from the road for children to play safely while being watched by parents on the porch. The 25 foot rope swing is a treat for children and grandchildren each summer. This is what families talk about year after year. We have added a turf mat surface under the swing to prevent dirty feet in the house! It truly is ideal for vacationing with your in-laws or extended family.
The main floor has an open kitchen with dining room and large serving counter with more seating space. Rita’s Kitchen is fully stocked kitchen for home cooking. We have serving pieces, dinnerware, flatware, pots, pans, bakeware, etc. Appliances include coffee maker, mixer, blender, microwave, dishwasher, etc. Rita’s Kitchen can handle feeding large groups. The kitchen is directly next to the bathroom. New flooring throughout kitchen and dining room.
Near the kitchen, we also have a family room with cable television and DVD player. The house has Wi-Fi and the password is on the fridge. There is a separate living room with sitting space and a few toys (no television). All main floor areas have new area rugs or new carpet for 2017.
The second floor has 4 bedrooms and one full bathroom. The Julius Room has a double bed and is located closest to the bathroom. The Bryce Room has two twin beds. The Andrea Room is the Master Bedroom of the house. It has the most floor space, three windows and a queen bed. The last bedroom on the 2nd floor is The Grace Room. The Grace Room is similar to the Bryce Room with two twin beds.
The third floor is great for a family – and our family’s favorite! There is a large room (The Joy Room) that opens to a turret. The Joy Room has three twin beds with plenty of floor space. Across the hallway is a room (The Sandra Room) with a queen bed.
The Sandra Room has floor space for a crib or luggage. In between these 2 rooms is a bathroom recently renovated. The Joy Room is great for families with children. This “widow’s peak” is perfect for reading, relaxing or playing games. Although, this small alcove is too small for a bed, it is perfect for viewing the scenery of the neighborhood and the breathtaking views of the harbor. It is a fun hideout for children!
The house has three bathrooms, one on each floor. The 2nd floor bath has a combination tub/shower. We also have an outdoor shower. The outdoor shower is enclosed and complete private with a lock. Our family finds that the outdoor is refreshing, convenient and preferred over the indoor shower.
All rooms and baths (including the family room and third floor) have doors for privacy – the home would be suitable for separate couples or privacy on rainy days. None of the rooms in the home are connected or have Jack and Jill bathrooms.
The basement has access for renters but is unfinished. We have 2 bikes (suitable for a young teen) available in our basement or they can be rented at Holiday Cycles 300 feet down the street. We have a plastic Radio Flyer wagon, tons of beach toys, beach chairs and umbrellas. We have a brand new washer and dryer (2015) also available for use in the basement. There is a clothes line on the harbor side of the property for towels and bathing suits.
A pack and play is available upon request. We have plenty of private parking with no parking passes needed. THIS IS RARE ON THE HEIGHTS! We have a new outdoor grill and the propane is ready to go.
Not always needed on the Cape, but available for your convenience, are two AC units. One is in the main floor family room while the other is in The Andrea Room on the 2nd floor. Every room has a fan available if needed.
No smoking or pets on the property. Contact owner with questions. Please take note of the sizes of the beds - Renters must provide their own sheets. We do have pillows and new duvets on the bed. The lawn and landscaping is all handled by a professional company weekly and an in-ground sprinkler system waters the lawn in the early mornings.
We offer a generous multi-week discount and a discount for our return yearly renters. We prefer longer term relationships with our renters such as those looking to rent the house for a sabbatical or those returning year after year. We are willing to negotiate rates to support these relationships.
The house was freshly painted white in 2014 with charming gingerbread details of dark green. We have added new lamps, rugs, chairs and water heater in 2015. In 2016, we added a $20,000 outdoor patio with ample seating for dinner.
Our mom grew up in Falmouth as a 'townie' in a large family and her roots there remain. We have fond memories of our Cape Cod summers with cousins and grandparents and extended family.
Andrea Verwys purchased this house in 1893
This house was built in 1893 by our great, great grandfather and our grandfather was born on the main floor. Our dad completed renovated and refurbished it by hand to keep in it in our family. Our grandparents and parents were married down the street. Now we are excited to share our town with you.
We love the rope swing, the large wrap around porch, the sound of the fog horn, the bagpipes from the weddings, 'surries' coming down the street and the large property for playing Ghosts in the Graveyard!
We had a wonderful time and fell in love with your house. Love the historic connection the home has to your family. It's a great story! You have a gem of a home.
The Heights House was the perfect destination location for our annual Girls' Weekend. The home is absolutely charming, with some of the perfect features of a Cape Cod home--the outdoor shower was so cozy, and I loved the view from the Widow's Watch. The house is perfect for lounging inside if it rains, or for sitting on the wraparound porch to enjoy the fall breeze. We enjoyed spreading out throughout the house with its many bedrooms, and making ourselves comfortable in the fully-equipped kitchen. The area is quiet and perfect for evening walks along the harbor. The town of Falmouth is a 5-minute drive and is great to get that small-town experience during the day. We highly recommend this gem!
A group of friends and I stayed at this house for a weekend in away in October. We had such a wonderful time! The home was spacious (lots of bedrooms) and close to all the sites and amenities that we enjoyed in Falmouth - shopping, dining, beach, harbor, etc. We took daily walks in the charming neighborhood, used the grill for burgers one night, relaxed on the front porch, and enjoyed the cozy family room for long talks. The owners are friendly and easy to work with. I recommend coming here for your next Cape Cod vacation!
There is a great wrap around porch and a brand new patio. Walking distance to a couple local restaurants. Walking distance to beach. This is a low-key small town Cape Cod place to go. Very relaxing. I've been coming to Falmouth for years and years.
