About Rahel Cook

THE OWNERS: In the mid 60’s the Seattle skyline had the Space Needle to the North and The Smith Tower to the South. There was nothing tall in-between the two notable structures. This is when I purchased this property, thinking I would live in the small beach cottage a few years. As time elapsed Seattle was growing, memories were created that could not be made today. My children diving off the old Sea Crest Marina piers, mooring our boat steps from our front door, sailing across Elliot Bay to Seattle, are but a few. Years went by, the memories and stories flourished and I realized I loved the house and area and was destined to stay. The house was so small it needed to grow. The first growth spurt was in the mid 70’s, when the children and the house grew taller. Next came 1980, the year I met my future husband. We complemented each other’s passion for art and creating with space. The spirit of the house and its land generously continued giving us the opportunity to fulfill our visions and dreams, often in the face of local growth obstacles. Today the Marina and boats are gone, the Seattle skyline is magnificent, and the house is beyond recognition of its former self. It welcomes the multitude of changes it observes and the attention it gets.. It deserves to be shared, through it you know the owners. Our home invites you to create your own stories and memories. Enjoy!

Your experience (public)

Just spent a girls' weekend (not nearly enough time) at Alki Beach Harbor House and we're already talking about our next visit. Rahel was an absolute pleasure to deal with and responded to any queries we had almost immediately. The excellent service plus the unique layout of the home, peaceful sitting areas and abundance of art made our stay a wonderful experience. We appreciated having access to bicycles for the weekend and loved taking morning rides alongside Puget Sound. Our only hesitation in booking was location, as we weren't sure that the water taxi service into downtown Seattle would be as easy as advertised...it absolutely was! $5.25 and a 15 minute ride took us very close to Pike Place Market, Safeco Field and anywhere else we needed to be. There is also a Safeway within a 20 minute walk (or 5 minute car-to-go ride) to stock the fridge during your stay. All in all, Alki Beach Harbor House is a wonderful place to stay while in Seattle...I heartily recommend it!

Beautiful!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I rented this house for the weekend. It was everything the pictures show and more. The views are amazing. Rahel was very easy to work with and very accommodating. I would highly recommend renting this property. We came over to go to two Mariners game and having the water taxi right across the street was so handy. The best way to beat busy Seattle traffic. I can not say enough good things about our experience there.

WORTH. EVERY. PENNY.

  • 5 of 5

Nothing can prepare you for this place. The pictures only give you a notion. The entire property exudes love, care, and impressive artistic taste. The views are unmatched, the amenities plentiful, and the community accessibility is effortless. It's right across from the water taxi (The road noise is something to note, but seriously, get over it. This place is fantastic!). I took the light rail from the airport and was there in an hour. Uber back was twenty minutes. The owners were super flexible and gracious, the bread and local jams a nice touch. Coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and every spice known to man (ok, this woman anyway) on site. I look forward to staying again; hopefully that time we can access the tipi. This is definitely a repeat visit! Thank you so much.

Spectacular Home

  • 5 of 5

We rented the Harbor House to celebrate my son's and my birthday - we live nearby but wanted to create a special weekend away from our normal lives. And this house and location delivered above and beyond my expectations. a) The view is simply spectacular - I don't know that you can find a better view to celebrate all that is special about Seattle than this; b) The house is so unique and lovely - filled with incredible artwork and personality at every turn; c) The location across from the water-taxi is so convenient; and d) the owner prepped the house with amenities that made it incredibly welcoming - notes on where to shop, beautiful fruit and snacks, etc. We loved our weekend at Harbor House and will definitely come back for another special occasion in the future!

Just stunning!

  • 5 of 5

Such a wonderful experience staying at Harbor House. We had a nice long stay and lacked for nothing. Very well appointed and equipped kitchen and full crock of tasty coffee made us happy. The tasty loaf of sourdough bread Rahel left for us didn't last long!

It's difficult to put into words an accurate enough description of the art, tiny boat collection, artifacts and furnishings. The entire stay I can say we were on sensory overload - in a very good way, discovering something different each day. We loved the brilliant colors, neon lighting, painted ceilings, numerous stairways, ponds, pathways, gardens and hideaways.

This is a very special and intriguing home and property. We couldn't fully enjoy the outside due to winter weather. We would love to return in the summer months to get the full effect of the exterior property and stay in the Tee Pee at the top of the hill.

The location of course is perfect to be based out of. Because of the location on a main through street it is not quiet and traffic inside can be heard round the clock. Most people it will not even phase. We adjusted quickly to the sounds.

The Water taxi is just across the street and ferry boats are a short distance down the street. Great restaurants are within walking distance.

The view from inside the homes middle and top levels of the Seattle Skyline at night is spectacular! Every moment available was spent lounging on the large sectionals and taking it all in.

Our hostess Rahel was responsive and accommodating. A very excellent experience.

Beautiful view!

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful home with a beautiful view! The home is very unique. The home is filled with treasures from the homeowner's adventures. Everywhere you look, you find something new to see. Plenty of room to relax and have a nice getaway. I wished I scuba dived.. we watched lots of scuba diving happening across the street. I highly recommend this home for an adult getaway. I don't recommend bringing children as their are too many treasures that could be broken. My partner and I already want to plan to come back with another couple and share this experience with them.
