Not what was expected.

  • 1 of 5

Day 1: Our girls found a dead rodent in the pool/pond and refused to go out on the decks from then on.

Day 1 Evening: my allergies and my daughter's were out of control. The house did not seem swept or wiped down and was very dusty. Most of the evening was spent cleaning. I am not too sure why the previous renters or we paid the cleaning fee.

Day 1 Evening:

A. The hall bathroom was clogged and remained clogged for the entire stay.

B. One of the master bedroom was attached to a bedroom so those sleeping in the walk thru bedroom had limited privacy as it had to be waljed thru to access the clogged bathroom.

C. All of the towels has a musty smell as if they were left in the washer too long. We ended up just running to Walmart to buy more.

Day 2: Was going to grill lunch and ended up having to go out because the propane take was empty and the replacement tank was delivered hours later.

None of the decks were swept and there were cobwebs throughout.

All of the patio furniture was dirty and could not be sat on without cleaning. Since we were tired of cleaning, we just used our beach chairs.

Lots of space but Needs Updating :-)

  • 3 of 5

Had a great family weekend at this home! Large with lots of room. Nice flat yard that allowed us great outside time playing cornhole, soccer, fishing and lots of time at the fire pit!! The downside to the backyard is the traffic noise from the road directly behind the house. Was surprised to see the road!! The kitchen needs updating....we were planned to have a spaghetti dinner the first night in, and was upset to find there were no pots to cook water in and the frying pans were rusted with loose handles....afraid to use!! No serving dishes. There were plenty of plates, utensils, and glasses....just really need to update the cooking utensils. Bedrooms were clean and well equipped, but the downstairs bedding and bed should be replaced.

A week on the river

  • 5 of 5

Our fam spent a week in May. Plenty of space and good value for the price. Despite several disappointments, we would definitely return. Although the listing stated gas fireplace, when we woke to 38 degrees, lite rain, first a.m., we found fp only available certain mos. of yr. A fire for an hr or so would have been nice. Also, plan on purchasing lots of drinking/cooking water. Water smells/tastes yuk. Road noise from 107 was rough n early a.m. Walmart has reasonably priced white noise machine. Positives: incredible views, amazingly peaceful river, yes, trout were caught! Deer, turkey, birds, bunnies. Can't wait to go back,

Owner's Response: Hi there, glad you enjoyed your stay. We look forward to you staying with us again in the future. To address your few disappointments we have added another filter onto our water system and cleared the issue. As for the gas we turn off the pilot light in the spring and summer months to save on energy cost. There are instructions to reignite the pilot light if need be. We do appreciate your feed back so we can make your trip more enjoyable in the future.

Great house. Loved the river, close to Cherokee and we won. Our friends joined us and stayed in the lower level...two homes in one.
