About owner/property manager

We built our lodge in 2008 from scratch. This is a 'second' home for us. Lots of time and attention went into every aspect of our lodge. We would love to share our home with others. Having spent many family gathering, holidays...... we know first hand how enjoyable this place is. The only problem we have with going to the lodge is...we never want to leave!

owner/property manager purchased this lodge in 2008

Why owner/property manager chose Chautauqua Lake

Our lodge is nestled back away from others. But you can get to the grocery store, restaurants, lake within 5 minutes.

What makes this lodge unique

The lodge was custom built and designed by us. Many unique features inside and out!

Beautiful home with great owners

  • 5 of 5

Christine was extremely helpful through the entire process. The house was as described, if not better. It is a beautiful house in a great location. I would highly recommend anyone to visit. Thanks again!

A very spacious lodge in a beautiful setting to accommodate our large family.

  • 5 of 5

Perfect place for our family to come for a week and just hang out together. The lodge is set up in such a way that we can enjoy all of our meals together and in the evening when the children are tucked in for the night, the adults can visit in the spacious great room. In the morning the game room was the best place to send the children who were early risers to keep them busy while the rest were sleeping. Even though there was 25 of us we never felt crowded. We have 15 grandchildren under the age of 13, so spills at dinner time can be quite common. But no worries the flooring is wonderful for large gatherings and so easy to clean up those messes. In the yard we set up for volleyball, badminton, soccer, an obstacle course, campfires and more. The children had a super time wading in the creek nearby and there is a very nice beach just a couple of miles away. We had a very memorable experience and would highly recommend this property to large groups. Last but not least the owner is very nice to work with and answered our questions in a timely manner.

Great lodge, just needs some love

  • 4 of 5

I'll start by saying the location of this property is awesome! Right near the lake, tucked into the woods in a nice quiet open area surrounded by trees, and it's not far from downtown Bemus Point. The craftsmanship of the home is beautifully done and you can tell the owners put a lot of work into it to make it accommodate large groups. I'll give a list of our pros and cons.

-Comfortable beds and furniture

-Awesome outdoor area

-Multiple access areas to the home (including access to the restrooms from the outdoors).

-Corn hole and indoor games are all there for your use which was great.

-Ice maker! We brought a few coolers outside so having the extra ice on hand was great. Wasn't the fastest at making new ice but it was better than nothing!

-The owner was easy to get ahold of.

-There are plenty of seating options indoors and outdoors.

-Every single bed was missing some type of sheet or pillow case (we did find some still in the dryer but never ended up having all that we needed). The pull out beds did not have any sheets or comforters available. We used flat sheets to cover the beds and small blankets from the couch.

-The large grill outside did not work well enough to use. We found this out after having to purchase our own propane!

-Nothing is provided- this includes toilet paper. For such a high end price I wasn't expecting to have to go out and purchase toilet paper (I can understand other common paper products like plates etc. but toilet paper!?)

-The house definitely needs a really good deep clean. The floors were pretty dusty and the shower mats in the bathrooms were very slimy. The fixtures were also pretty loose on the sinks.

-Ants- don't drop anything!

Overall, we had a really great time here and spent 90% of the time outside. I think the house just needs a little extra attention and it would have been perfect. For such a high end price it would be nice to not have to stress about things functioning (such as the grill) and having to purchase our own propane, toilet paper and trash bags was an unexpected expense. So just a tip for future visitors- bring everything!

I do feel that the Christmas decor did take away from the overall "rustic" feel when it's June. If the house was kept free of Christmas decorations and the owners things (random shoes, clothes and boxes throughout the house) then I would say the overall feel of the home would have been absolutely perfect.

Owner's Response: Thank you for taking the time to write a review and point out the great features that our home has to offer. We also enjoy spending time at our "2nd home". I will most certainly address the lack of bedding /dusty floors with our caretaker. The loose fixtures have been tended to. Our monthly pest control service has put a stop to the occasional unwanted ants. No one likes it when that happens. Thank you for letting me know! Must be they moved in in short order as the prior renters did not mention seeing any. In regards to the toilet paper, trash bags and propane....I do not advertise these as items that we provide. Typically in rentals these items are not included. This was only the 2nd time in all the rentals we have had that someone inquired about this. I have though as a heads up to future renters...added that as an FYI on my instructions sheet to them. Funny thing on the décor.... I have had many folks complementing us on the décor. I am sorry that you did not seem to enjoy them as others have. Again...thank you very much for sharing your thoughts as we want everyone's experience at our lodge to be wonderful! We look forward to possibly hosting you again in the future!

Cool place needs a little TLC.

  • 4 of 5

First of all you have a very cool place on a great piece of property. I do think that sending in a handy man once in a while would help justify the high end price. Many of the light bulbs were burned out, the faucits were about to fall out of the sinks and interior doors and shower doors had evidence of rental abuse. We also set some deserts on the main bar area and they were crawling with ants in a matter of minutes. Luckily my group was all men and this did'nt do much besides waiste alot snacks. This place is too cool to let it go.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review! We do have our lodge...which is our family's second home.... maintained regularly. My apologizes on the light bulbs...they must have blown just prior to your stay. The property is under a monthly pest control contract...on occasion some unwanted visitors check in...their stay came to an abrupt end. As stated on your rental agreement...please feel free to call me during your stay with any issues. We are glad to tend to them. We hope to see you again sometime! Take care!

We had an amazing time at the lodge in Bemus Point! We had 25 members of our family for a reunion and the accommodations were wonderful. We enjoyed being close to MidWAy State Park for the kids. We enjoyed having a family run/walk at Long Point State Park and riding the Chautauqua Belle. We even had a special sip n paint party! The house is complete with everything needed and the yard area is great for ball games and yoga sessions. Really great time. Only recommendation is more outdoor activities available such as lawn games and swings for kids !

Fireworks over the lake!

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful time we had at the lodge! With our large family we typically would be divided up in cabins for our reunion, but not here! We were all together which made for great conversations in the evening when the kids were settled and in the early morning around a cup of coffee. Fantastic yard for all kinds of outdoor games. The kids had a blast. We all agreed we would like to come again next year. Thank you!
