Enjoy the luxury of this grand home on Esplanade Avenue at the edge of the French Quarter. This historic home has been tastefully renovated, keeping the classic New Orleans features -- crystal chandeliers, high ceilings, a private rear courtyard with a fountain and small pond -- and updating the unit with new silk drapes and Venetian-marble walls. The upstairs units have been updated as well, with all new bathrooms and central air. All units in the building have cable TV and Internet access and the house is protected with a security system. The house is nestled between the Quarter, the French Market and the hottest music scene in town--Frenchmen Street.

The first floor has a secure entrance, one large master bedroom with a king-sized bed; one study with a trundle day bed that can be used as two twin beds or one king-sized bed; one and half bathrooms; a grand room with a formal dining room at one end and comfortable living room with a working fireplace at the other; a full kitchen and a butler's pantry kitchen; an eat-in sun room with a television; a formal dining room; a private outdoor back courtyard; and a laundry facility with a private washer and dryer. The kitchen is fully stocked for those ready to cook with plenty of cookware and dishes for a big party as well as spices and staples. The courtyard has a gas grill.

The second floor features three bedrooms, three bathrooms, a living room and small kitchen. All of the upstairs bedrooms have queen-sized beds. Two of them have en-suite bathrooms. One has an entrance onto a small balcony. The living room has a futon that functions as full-sized bed and a day bed that can be used as two twins or a king and also has an entrance onto the balcony. The second floor has two televisions and has access to the front courtyard.

Wonderful trip! Incredible house!

My husband and I and some friends had a wonderful trip over a long weekend in September and this beautiful and elegant home was a big part of our experience. The house, as the pictures attest, exudes New Orleans charm and the location on Esplanade is really so perfect. You can walk just about anywhere (and we did!) and you are close enough to Bourbon and Frenchman's streets to enjoy nightlife but also not too close to be annoyed by crowds. I had read the previous reviews and was shocked at the one that mentioned bugs and a bicycle being stolen. We saw absolutely no evidence of any insects and while Esplanade does get some foot traffic I would never say that I felt that the neighborhood was unsafe. My husband and I are cyclists and often travel with our bicycles though I would not in any circumstance leave a bicycle locked on any street--we always bring our bikes inside no matter how safe we deem a given neighborhood. We absolutely hope to return to NOLA soon and would love to stay here again. I am still dreaming of our oyster lunch at Felix's!

Nice Property w/some Issues

The house itself was great and the communication with the owner was timely, but we had some problems with our stay. First, there were a ton of cockroaches. For a place so expensive, we shouldn't have an issue like that. We even found roaches in our suitcases as we were leaving. The owner never offered any reimbursement for the bug problem either. Also, a bike that we locked to the fence was stolen almost immediately. Considering the steep price and the experience we had, it's not really a place I would recommend staying.

Great house! Great location! There was plenty of space and bedding for the 12 of us. If I come back to New Orleans I would absolutely stay here again!

Beautiful, great location, highly accomodating!!

This house is great, lots of space and beautiful. Offered more than expected! The kitchen is fully accommodating with spices, all cooking necessities, and lots of stemware which we made use of!! The decorations and furnishings are beautiful with lots of seating. The rooms are huge and comfortable. Many bathrooms to accommodate. My only complaint would be the courtyard. We were planning on getting much more use out of it, but it is messy, cluttered, and a little small with the huge fountain taking up most of it, but it is nice that it has a courtyard!
