About Dee Murphy

We built our dream log home in 1998.

Dee Murphy purchased this studio in 1998

Why Dee Murphy chose Rabbit Creek

Our home is located on a secluded wooded property with mountains and excellent views of the Cook Inlet and Alaska Range. You can enjoy a glass of wine and fire in the rock garden during summer solstice or a fire inside after snow shoeing the Chugach Range behind us.

What makes this studio unique

Here you can see many types of wildlife. Moose, black bear, and eagles are often seen on the property. With occasional brown bear and lynx. If lucky, a wolf on early winter mornings has been seen.

Alyeska Resort, world class heli or cat skiing just 30 minutes south and hiking and bike trails throughout Anchorage and the surrounding area. A favorite bike route is called bird to gird which is Bird Creek to Girdwood an approximate 15 mile scenic ride. Turnagain hiking trail is a 5 minute drive away.

A great place to enjoy yourselve

  • 5 of 5

Always again a great place to stay. The house is located on the hillside with beautiful views of Turnagain Arm. All was very clean and well prepared. The property is in a quiet neighborhood, the studio is equipped with all we needed, and it's not too far from the airport. Dee and Sean were always extremly helpful and accommodating. It was once again a wonderful stay and we highly recommend it.

Alaska Dream Vacation

  • 5 of 5

We spent an absolutely amazing two months at Sean and Dee's beautiful property. They are great people and superb hosts. We loved the setting - lush hillside forested area, manicured lawn, trees, flower gardens, and spectacular views of the waters of Cook Inlet and the snow covered mountain ranges beyond. We especially enjoyed seeing all of the wildlife and our long walks in the neighborhood and nearby hiking trails.

The loft apartment was comfortable, clean, and equipped with everything we could possibly need for a relaxed, carefree vacation. We used the outdoor grill nearly everyday to prepare our evening meals (usually tasty grilled salmon or halibut!) and, as the temperatures dropped, enjoyed the warm glow of the wood burning stove. The property's location south of Anchorage was perfect for our many hiking, biking and fishing adventures. This allowed us to be in Anchorage within minutes to take advantage of the many cultural events, shopping, and restaurants or take road trips to the south to Girdwood, Portage Glacier area, Whittier, and the Kenai Peninsula (Homer, Seward, Hope, Soldotna, etc).

This was truly an Alaska dream vacation and we would definitely recommend this property to anyone who wants to discover some of the adventures Alaska has to offer!

The Perfect Alaskan Adventure

  • 5 of 5

This was our 1st trip to Alaska; to celebrate our 20th anniversary. We looked into cruises, RVs, hotels and more...but when we were referred to this property we knew immediately this was the place for us. It was important to be centrally located to explore as much as possible without running ourselves ragged. This property was perfectly situated for short day trips to Anchorage, Girdwood, etc and close enough to get to Seward, Talkeetna, etc within @ 2 hrs each way. The highlights of our trip were a 5 hr cruise in Seward, a flight to Denali from Talkeetna with a glacier landing and horseback riding in Cooper Landing. The Murphy's and the Alaska App were key resources in planning our activities.

What made the adventure EXTRA SPECIAL were the accommodations and the hosts. From the moment we arrived, we felt like part of the family. Sean and Kobuk (the BEST dog ambassador ever:-) were there to greet and welcome us. One night Dee made an amazing salmon dinner which included a special guest, her Dad!!! It was a huge bonus to be staying with "the locals". We thoroughly enjoyed hearing their stories of life in the "Last Frontier". Several Moose including a fairly newborn calf, made special appearances as well. The spectacular views of the Cook Inlet and Alaskan range were constantly changing and never disappointed.

Thank you Dee, Sean and Kobuk for making this the most memorable anniversary yet!!! We hope you visit us in the Catskills and we look forward to another Alaskan Adventure.

Sincerely,

Tom & Karen

Comfortable and Stunning!

  • 5 of 5

We got eloped in Girdwood, about 30 minutes away and stayed here at Sean and Dee's place the two days. We had so many wonderful adventures! We hiked in Girdwood, Artic Valley and Kincaid Park, drove Seaward Highway for the amazing views, saw moose and dull sheep, and relaxed in the comfort of this wonderful place. They have a wonderful wood stove and great big window in the living room with such a beautiful view of the mountains and inlet. We definitely will be returning and staying here! Sean and Dee are both so friendly and welcoming! They left us with welcoming gifts and all the essentials. They made us feel like we were long time friends! When you stay here, you should have breakfast at the Alaskan Bagel Restaurant in Anchorage. They have the best bagels ever! We just happened to stop there one of our very first mornings and loved it so much we returned every morning after!
