Guestbook comments from the owner

The house was clean, spacious and had a lovely view of Lake Estes from the deck. Our family reunion group enjoyed the Stanley Hotel tour, pontoon ride on the lake, and all Rocky Mountain National Park has to offer.

Underwhelmed, Uncomfortable, and Harassed by “Estes Park Central – Police? Or Security?”

  • 1 of 5

This house is large and could be very comfortable if some improvements would be done. Our first problem was the filthy bathroom rugs. All of the rugs and carpeting need a good cleaning, or need to be replaced. The upstairs bathroom is old, stained & the shower curtain needs changed. Our small dog made us realize how filthy under the beds and couch were – candy, jaw breakers, gum, tons of hair and dust and dirt. Housekeeping needs to remember to vacuum under furniture between renters. I called and requested some additional towels (We were given one towel each - it would be nice to have a bath towel and a towel to use the hot tub.) I was told no – we should wash them? There are 8 people in our family, and I felt that was ridiculous to expect us to have only one towel each for 7 days and no extra towel for using the hot tub. I requested dish cloths to wash dishes also. Mickey from housekeeping responded very quickly. She did come over and resolved our bath towel issue. Our next big problem was that the Hot Tub was dangerous. The Bromine level was so high it could have caused serious health problems. The sheets on the twin bunk bed were very scratchy & caused an itchy rash. The beds are certainly due for new mattresses - they are old and a bit saggy. There are no window shades on dining room window, this is difficult with the sunshine during the day, and no privacy at night. The kitchen could certainly use some newer and more useful utensils and some large serving spoons. We were able to make do with what we had, but not very easy. We arrived on Tuesday afternoon and were willing to just deal with the situation. We cleaned and worked with what we had in the kitchen. The final problem came on Saturday December 31st. Two people came to the door, and one claimed to be a police officer. My daughter went to the door, and was questioned about the number of people staying at the house – there are 8 of us. The two men told my daughter that a neighbor complained that there were too many people at the house. This seemed very strange to us. My husband also spoke with the men, and then they claimed to be security or maintenance personnel with Estes Park Central. So this made us all very uncomfortable, and paranoid of the neighbors, as if they were spying in on us in the dining room with no window covering.

Not as Relaxing as I Wanted.

Wonderful for a group

  • 5 of 5

This was a great place for us all to catch up, but still feel like we had our own space. Those who got up early enough, enjoyed seeing wildlife just outside the windows. A well stocked kitchen and wonderful service from the management (just a small issue with the hot tub, but handled quickly) make this a top rental.
