Boulder Bay Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Great room with beautiful stone fireplace, 3 bedrooms + sleeping alcove, 3 baths

Dreaming of that peaceful place in the woods? The place that has all the modern conveniences that you're used to, yet still allows you to experience the coziness and tranquility of a less-frantic way of life? Welcome to this wonderful cabin at Big Bear Lake...

You will fall in love with the knotty pine walls, the open beamed ceilings, and the stone fireplaces! In the last six years, almost everything has been upgraded: the bathrooms and the kitchen, the roof, the windows, the outside and inside paint, electrical, plumbing, the dock and, yes, even the washer and dryer. The forced-air heater and the water heater churn out dependable warmth for those who want to stay in the cabin, putter around and enjoy the peace and quiet. And, of course, don't forget the two wood-burning fireplaces that really set the stage for relaxation (wood provided.)

The cabin is decorated with hand-sewn curtains, quilts and nostalgic artwork. It has great energy. When you stay here, you will not be staying in just another house...

You'll be on a quiet street surrounded by trees and just up the hill from the lake. Nothing is very far from anything else in Big Bear Lake, but it's nice after a day snowboarding, sledding, tubing or cross-country skiing... or hiking, biking, fishing, wakeboarding, pontoon cruising, antiquing or going to the fair... to come home and be away from road noise and partying neighbors...

The cabin is easy to get to, but off the beaten track. Ten minutes takes you to pretty much everything...

There are three bathrooms, which helps a lot with morning congestion. Sleeping accomodations include the master bedroom with king-sized bed and bath, the second bedroom with a queen bed, the third bedroom with one queen bed and one single bed, and 'the nook', with a single bed and flat screen TV...a perfect hang-out for the kids...

About Alison Edwards

There are five of us (plus whoever comes to the cabin with us...) We parents have been together over 40 years; we have three children (25, 22 and 21). We each have favorite things we like to do at Big Bear. Robert likes to work (aaarrrggghhh!!!) and putter in the yard. Alison likes to sit by the fire and read and go to events like the Renaissance Fair and the Chili Cookoff. She also likes to go to the Zoo. She changes from LA Woman to Pioneer Woman when she's at the cabin and cooks things like blueberry pancakes. She also likes to kayak on the lake, walk around the neighborhood, and work on making the house even nicer. #1 Son likes to watch movies and go waterskiing and wakeboarding. He likes to golf at altitude, where the ball goes further... Darling daughter likes to go shopping in the Village, eat ice cream, go to the movies, and go horseback riding. #2 Son likes to snowboard and jet ski. He also likes bowling, watching movies and eating anything that isn't moving.

We are also native Californians, born and raised in the Los Angeles area. We live in the South Bay, near the beach. We love Los Angeles, but it is wonderful to go to the mountains and enjoy the clean air, smell the pine trees, listen to the birds sing, and play in the snow in winter, the lake in summer, and hike and appreciate the community in the spring and fall...

Alison Edwards purchased this cabin in 2008

Why Alison Edwards chose Big Bear Lake

We bought this cabin because we wanted to a place to get away from it all and connect with each other. We wanted a place to bring friends and spend leisure time...a place that didn't feel like suburbia...

Sure, we all like our cell phones, and computers, but we like a place that is different enough so that we feel like we are travelling to a far-away land, even if we are only 2 hours from home...

When you sit in front of the wood-burning stone fireplace and feel the toasty heat, or sit at our long table drinking coffee or sharing a bottle of wine, your day unspools differently. You forget your 'to-do' list and give yourself a little more time to relax. Sure, there's WIFI and flat screen TVs, but we are in a neighborhood that is great for walks...surrounded by the lake on three sides and beautiful multi-million dollar homes.

What makes this cabin unique

You will not feel like you are anywhere near Los Angeles when you stay in this cabin... It is comfortable and spacious, but very cozy. It's almost too cute...

This cabin was amazing....honestly can't think of one negative thing to say. Super cute on the inside and plenty of beds to sleep in. The neighbors next door were so friendly and helpful. We has such a great weekend and will definitely be coming back :)

Great house

  • 5 of 5

We rented three houses at the end of Inspiration Point for a family reunion and this was one of them. Although we mostly just used the house for sleeping and showering, it was a great little house. Clean, cozy and woodsy - just what you want up in the mountains. The owners were great to work with and there was a "welcome basket" to greet us. Looks like the large front yard would be great for snow-play in the winter!

Alison was WONDERFUL to work with and often responded to my messages within an hour during our stay! The sleeping arrangements worked out perfectly for 3 couples and 2 kids. My whole family loved the comfy home feeling and are definitely wanting to stay here again!

Great cozy house for a winter stay!

  • 4 of 5

Overall had a great experience here. There are a few minor things that could be improved upon that I already told one of the owners as they called me up to ask and I'm really encouraged to see that they're trying to understand their clientele and give a better experience. As such here are a few tips for them that can make future guests stays a bit more enjoyable.

First: Please let your guests know that cell reception is rather limited (T-mobile has practically zero reception) I didn't write down the codes properly and actually had to drive back out to the main street to get some reception before heading back and entering the securely armed house.

Second: Usually there's a welcome booklet with all the information you provided in the pdfs. Obviously you wouldn't include the security codes in this booklet, but a general booklet with information on how to use certain things in the house (heater/water heater), TV and its systems, fireplace and where the wood is, trash location and how to get there, map of lake/dock, and of course wifi password. Having it somewhere visible when the guest enters and be able to access can be quite helpful.

Third: Amenities, towels/blankets/pillows seem to be all provided which is great, body wash it a + too, but you should also include some sort of shampoo! And please include a few humidifiers! The dry winter air and heater makes the house extremely dry. I normally wouldn't have cared, but when I'm being shocked by everything I touch, that tends to be a small problem :P

Besides that, the beds were comfortable, the sofa was great, the kitchen was well maintained, and the dining table was nice and big. Outside there were sleds that we used to sled down the yard. Would be fun to come when there's less snow! (or fresh snow!)

The dock/lake was also gorgeous. It was so empty and nice.

To the owner: Take better pictures of the house and dock/lake! Your place is a lot nicer than you allow it to seem.

Now I just wish you had a Jacuzzi...

Cozy cabin with a snow park in the front yard

  • 5 of 5

This cabin had everything we need. We were lucky enough to have the front yard which we turned into a snow/sled area for the kids where we could see them playing from the dining room window. I would definitely rent this cabin again and would recommend to friends and family.

Perfect!

  • 5 of 5

This place is really great! Cabin was organized and clean. It was Perfect size for our family of 8. We loved all the little details that were provided including the lavender body wash, towels, linen, dishware etc. Alison was quick to reply when we had a question in regards to heating. My kids had a blast especially with being the first snow of the season and their first time seeing snow. Thank you for sharing your home with us. We hope to come back very soon.

Car: recommended

The house is on a very quiet street: a cul-de-sac at the end of Inspiration Point, surrounded on three sides by water. There is no through traffic, and the house is on the side of the street away from the highway, so it is very peaceful, especially during the middle of the week, and during the spring, summer and fall.

The house sits at the back of a 1/4 acre lot. The flat open yard is great for snowball fights, building snow forts and snowmen and making snow angels in the winter. In the summer, play tag or touch football or soccer, volleyball or badminton, horseshoes or croquet.

Inspiration Point is on the west end of Big Bear Lake, away from the commercial area, yet within 10-15 minutes of marinas, ski slopes, grocery stores, bowling, movie theatres, drug stores, the K-Mart and every kind of fine dining restaurant and fast-food restaurant anyone could want. The Village has been recently re-landscaped and is more charming than ever! It is the perfect spot to shop and eat on one of the many sunny days Big Bear is famous for!
