About the property

Great room with beautiful stone fireplace, 3 bedrooms + sleeping alcove, 3 baths

Dreaming of that peaceful place in the woods? The place that has all the modern conveniences that you're used to, yet still allows you to experience the coziness and tranquility of a less-frantic way of life? Welcome to this wonderful cabin at Big Bear Lake...

You will fall in love with the knotty pine walls, the open beamed ceilings, and the stone fireplaces! In the last six years, almost everything has been upgraded: the bathrooms and the kitchen, the roof, the windows, the outside and inside paint, electrical, plumbing, the dock and, yes, even the washer and dryer. The forced-air heater and the water heater churn out dependable warmth for those who want to stay in the cabin, putter around and enjoy the peace and quiet. And, of course, don't forget the two wood-burning fireplaces that really set the stage for relaxation (wood provided.)

The cabin is decorated with hand-sewn curtains, quilts and nostalgic artwork. It has great energy. When you stay here, you will not be staying in just another house...

You'll be on a quiet street surrounded by trees and just up the hill from the lake. Nothing is very far from anything else in Big Bear Lake, but it's nice after a day snowboarding, sledding, tubing or cross-country skiing... or hiking, biking, fishing, wakeboarding, pontoon cruising, antiquing or going to the fair... to come home and be away from road noise and partying neighbors...

The cabin is easy to get to, but off the beaten track. Ten minutes takes you to pretty much everything...

There are three bathrooms, which helps a lot with morning congestion. Sleeping accomodations include the master bedroom with king-sized bed and bath, the second bedroom with a queen bed, the third bedroom with one queen bed and one single bed, and 'the nook', with a single bed and flat screen TV...a perfect hang-out for the kids...

About Alison Edwards

There are five of us (plus whoever comes to the cabin with us...) We parents have been together over 40 years; we have three children (25, 22 and 21). We each have favorite things we like to do at Big Bear. Robert likes to work (aaarrrggghhh!!!) and putter in the yard. Alison likes to sit by the fire and read and go to events like the Renaissance Fair and the Chili Cookoff. She also likes to go to the Zoo. She changes from LA Woman to Pioneer Woman when she's at the cabin and cooks things like blueberry pancakes. She also likes to kayak on the lake, walk around the neighborhood, and work on making the house even nicer. #1 Son likes to watch movies and go waterskiing and wakeboarding. He likes to golf at altitude, where the ball goes further... Darling daughter likes to go shopping in the Village, eat ice cream, go to the movies, and go horseback riding. #2 Son likes to snowboard and jet ski. He also likes bowling, watching movies and eating anything that isn't moving.

We are also native Californians, born and raised in the Los Angeles area. We live in the South Bay, near the beach. We love Los Angeles, but it is wonderful to go to the mountains and enjoy the clean air, smell the pine trees, listen to the birds sing, and play in the snow in winter, the lake in summer, and hike and appreciate the community in the spring and fall...

Alison Edwards purchased this cabin in 2008

Why Alison Edwards chose Boulder Bay

We bought this cabin because we wanted to a place to get away from it all and connect with each other. We wanted a place to bring friends and spend leisure time...a place that didn't feel like suburbia...

Sure, we all like our cell phones, and computers, but we like a place that is different enough so that we feel like we are travelling to a far-away land, even if we are only 2 hours from home...

When you sit in front of the wood-burning stone fireplace and feel the toasty heat, or sit at our long table drinking coffee or sharing a bottle of wine, your day unspools differently. You forget your 'to-do' list and give yourself a little more time to relax. Sure, there's WIFI and flat screen TVs, but we are in a neighborhood that is great for walks...surrounded by the lake on three sides and beautiful multi-million dollar homes.

What makes this cabin unique

You will not feel like you are anywhere near Los Angeles when you stay in this cabin... It is comfortable and spacious, but very cozy. It's almost too cute...

The house is on a very quiet street: a cul-de-sac at the end of Inspiration Point, surrounded on three sides by water. There is no through traffic, and the house is on the side of the street away from the highway, so it is very peaceful, especially during the middle of the week, and during the spring, summer and fall.

The house sits at the back of a 1/4 acre lot. The flat open yard is great for snowball fights, building snow forts and snowmen and making snow angels in the winter. In the summer, play tag or touch football or soccer, volleyball or badminton, horseshoes or croquet.

Inspiration Point is on the west end of Big Bear Lake, away from the commercial area, yet within 10-15 minutes of marinas, ski slopes, grocery stores, bowling, movie theatres, drug stores, the K-Mart and every kind of fine dining restaurant and fast-food restaurant anyone could want. The Village has been recently re-landscaped and is more charming than ever! It is the perfect spot to shop and eat on one of the many sunny days Big Bear is famous for!

A great get away!

  • 5 of 5

The cabin owners were extremely helpful and responsive to questions. By no means is it fancy. It is rustic and cozy. There is everything you need. The kitchen is fully stocked. Cable and wifi are great . There are sufficient towels and bedding. The outdoor table, fire pit and bbq(s) made for lovely evenings.

Don't expect fancy but do expect a comfortable and inviting stay.

Cozy cabin where the kids had a blast!

  • 5 of 5

This was my first experience renting a cabin through HomeAway, and it was awesome. The owners were great communicators, answering any questions promptly and providing helpful information to make the most of our trip. The cabin itself was exactly what I expected from the images and reviews. A nice, cozy place where we could be warm inside while the snow fell outside. Bedrooms were set up perfectly to accommodate our family. And the yard was big enough to build a snowman, make slides for sledding and have snowball fights. My family had a great view from the dining area to watch the kids play outside. We made plenty of great memories here, I definitely plan on coming back.

Great Cabin with everything

  • 5 of 5

Came into town for two night get away with a group of friends to hit the freshly powdered slopes. Prior to arriving I was in contact with Alison and Marilyn who answered all my questions promptly and were extremely helpful. We arrived and checked into the cabin with no issues. Well, aside from setting the alarm off when we arrived as one of the guests couldnt wait to get in, sorry Alison.

The cabin itself had everything you could possibly ask for or need and space was never an issue with four couples occupying the cabin for the weekend. Fully stocked kitchen was a great convenience, as well as the charcoal BBQ outback. We shoveled out the back patio and barbequed some tri-tips in the 30 degree weather satuday night using the legit Weber grill! Can't tell you how nice it was to have 3 full restrooms with 8 people staying in the cabin; it made things so much easier in the mornings. The only thing that I can say was an iconvenience about our stay was having to take the trash to the drop off location. Gathering the trash was no big deal, but having to drive sunday morning and trying to find the location for the first time with hectic traffic was a headache. After mapping the address provided we ended up across the street from the proper location and decided to just keep the trash in the car and drop it off after hitting the mountain up for some boarding as time was already running out. Overall, we got a steal with this cabin and host. Thanks again to Alison and Marilyn!

Cozy family get away

  • 5 of 5

I booked this property for 3 nights over Thanksgiving weekend for me and my family. After combing over many properties in various websites, I chose this cabin based on reviews. So THANK YOU for people who left reviews before me!

My requirements were: place for 8 people to sleep comfortably (no pull out couch), more than 2 bathrooms, fully stocked kitchen, away from the ski resorts, and dog friendly.

Even though the pictures made this property look tired (because other cabins looked sparkly and fancy...but bad reviews of cabin owners charging an arm and a leg for damage not caused by guests), I was really appreciative of people leaving their honest feedback.

Hosts were on their game with communication. I emailed 3x at least - can I bring my 2 older dogs? yes. can I add 1 more guest, now total 8? yes. do you have x, y, z in the cabin? yes.

Pluses: small but fully stocked kitchen (I used pretty much all their cookery), gas range (a hit with my bf), a dining table that seats 8 (though it had 7 chairs), 3 queen size beds for coupled up adults, 2 twin size beds for a single gal and a child. Perfect! Humidifier (we brought our own but it was SO nice to have more), fire wood, games, dvd player and an extensive collection of family friendly DVDs, good wifi, near the lake, nice neighbors, a yard to play in (it snowed on 2nd day, snow ball fight and snow man/angel making), and on...

Minuses: only if these things bother you. I didn't mind them terribly but perhaps it can be added/considered for improved experience. Dark kitchen/entry area; tiny shower in downstairs bedroom (there is a full bath on the same level), mildewy towels, downstairs bedroom TV wasn't working but we didn't watch it anyway and that room was so cold but the heater in the room helped, and not enough non-plastic wine glasses.

I would come back again. We made great memories and this cabin felt like HOME rather than a place I am renting and that's a huge plus. Too many times our memories center around how we were made to feel rather than what we did or ate or bought. This cozy cabin more than afford me a great long weekend of comfort and much needed family time. Thank you.

Great winter escape!!

  • 5 of 5

Headed up for a snowy weekend in Big Bear. The house was perfect for our family and dog! It was so cozy and such cute character. Wish the king bed was upstairs since we can't be too far from the kiddos but it still worked great. Lots of sleeping room! The yard is HUGE and we built a sled hill right outside the door for our boys to play on. We had a blast! It was nice to come in and light a fire and lounge around. You can see the lake from the house so would be awesome in the summer time too. Can't wait to come back and stay again! Alison and Marilyn were great to work with. So responsive and so nice.
