Hannah Castelow graduated with her master degree from Salisbury University and we came to celebrate. Joining her in their glorious celebration were her parents, gmom, pop pop, her aunt, boyfriend, and bestfriend. We had two perfect beach days and one rainy day for shopping. Your cottage was the perfect weekend home for us, we walked, talked, relaxed and reveled in each others company. Many cups of coffee and naps were had on the relaxing screen porch. Perfectly comfortably. magical little cottage near the beach. Rehoboth has long time been our favorite place for family memories
I just spent a week at this mid-range house with my husband and two teenage sons. The selling point for us had been the fact we could bring our aging dog that we could not bear to leave at home. However, she died about 3 weeks before our trip and the rental agent could not have been kinder or more generous about adjusting the pet fee, etc. Really grateful for that! The location of the house was perfect: easy stroll to the beach and town, but just far enough away to feel peaceful. The furniture and lighting in the house were comfortable. The AC on the main level was powerful, a good thing because we experienced a pretty intense heat wave for several days. We absolutely adored the screened-in front porch and spent a lot of time out there, even on the really hot days. The outdoor shower was fantastic and the noted bikes are still in the shed. The home did have some unexpected aspects though. First, the small lot was divided and there was a small second house on the property. This is not necessarily a bad thing; we just didn’t know we would be sharing the yard from reading the description. Also, the upstairs portion of the house was much more rustic and unfinished than anticipated. The central air upstairs does not extend to the second story and as you climb the steep stairs you are met with warm air on the landing. There were several box mattresses/miscellaneous items piled up the landing area (not sure why??). The ceilings upstairs are very slanted especially in the bathroom. Our boys could not stand in the showers and ended up using the outdoor shower for bathing. The two upstairs bedrooms had wall AC’s and accordion pull-shut doors. Our teens did okay with all this but I was happy that there were no other adults with us because the upstairs was just not finished enough for my taste. The two main level bedrooms were comfortable but pretty small. My husband and I slept in one and used the second as a crash pad, which gave us the elbowroom we needed. It might have felt tight if both downstairs rooms had been occupied. All in all we were comfortable and had a great week. The home was well maintained and clean. There were no ants.
I was reluctant because of the prior review that mentioned ants. There were no ants. It was a nice house and included the use of 4 beach cruiser bikes. Kitchen was fine and the grill was practically new. We did not bring our dog but that was nice to now that we could have. We’d come back again.
The house is in a good location except for the port a potty on the front lawn and the construction that starts at 7 am every day. The furnishings In the home are old like from your grandmother's time. For the price look at a different house. Oh I forgot to mention the ants, we had to store our food in microwave and the stove due to the ants in the kitchen. No propane in the grill, and no one had cleaned or even examined the grill to see if it was usable, which it was not! For our 1 family vacation this year it was really disappointing. I think I should get a refund, I was embarrassed when people came to the home. Never again.
