Bruadair-Classic Beach & Optional Guest House; Renovated; Private Beach

Bedrooms 4
Space 2,500 sq. ft.
Property type cottage
Minimum Stay 2 - 6 nights

About the property

4 bedroom/3 bath main house; optional 1 bedroom/bath guest house 766952

Bruadair's (Scottish Gaelic for 'dream') open floor plan allows everyone to gather in a common space with water views abounding or retreat to your own nook while its exquisite new (optional) guest house (listing 766952) gives others privacy.

Three bedrooms and 2 baths are located on the main, living level while the spacious master bedroom is upstairs with its own large bath, shower and whirlpool tub. The optional guest house adds another bedroom and bath (separate rental 766952), which could bring the total to 5 bedrooms and 4 baths.

Bruadair has a beautiful deck overlooking the water, plus a large screened-in porch provides great breezes and water views, too. Glass doors highlight the views whether you are cooking, playing games, reading or watching television. Step out the glass sliders, three steps down the deck and the private beach awaits you.

With 2 kayaks and 4 bicycles included in the rental, touring the Bay, the estuaries or the Park is a breeze. Ospreys, herons, bald eagles, pelicans and other natural beauties are outside the door or tucked away in nearby estuaries where kayaking in a peaceful setting is magnificent.

Scotland Yards makes your stay easy. We provide guests with towels, linens, kitchen supplies, paper towels, soaps, shampoo and everything you need to truly get away. Just bring yourselves and your food and your personal effects.

Our guests frequently comment that the rarely want to leave once they arrive. For those who so choose to venture out, a lovely local winery, historic St Mary's City, various historical plantations and other destinations such as Solomon's Island, Leonardtown and St. George's Island provide entertainment.

Young children love the Calvert Marine Museum, about 30 miles away on Solomon's Island.

With a private beach in front while nestled in a wooded, small beach community, guests have the best of woods and water. This is not a boardwalk! But, If you want luxury accommodations, waves lulling you to sleep, kayaking and otherwise enjoying a secluded beach setting, Bruadair and its guest house beckon you.

Great time despite the weather

  • 4 of 5

Great spot! Unfortunately, we had very nasty weather and weren't able to fully appreciate the location and its amenities. The bikes and kayaks were very tempting. The house is very spacious. Lots of room for everyone.

Excellent property in perfect location

  • 5 of 5

We rented the house while our college swimmers were taking part in their conference championships at St. Mary's in February (who would have thought it would be in the mid 60s all weekend). This was the perfect alternative to a hotel room. The owner and property managers were very responsive to emails. We will be back!

Excellent direct access waterfront property overall and accomodating Owners/Managers

  • 5 of 5

We originally booked the main house, found out later we needed extra space and Peggy accommodated us quickly and fairly in booking the Guest house. Both units have comfortable beds and having linens & paper products saved much packing/unpacking, along with minimal stair climbing for elderly dog in the Main house. The dock was not usable while we were there and this was disappointing but the direct beach access and wall of windows/sliders in the LR were wonderful. The kayaks were used by adults & teenagers & enjoyed. The only downsides were the upstairs Master shower needed "help" in draining, resulting in standing in a bit of water during/after showering and the loose floor tiles in the kitchen were bothersome. But overall, one of the better rentals we have stayed in over 17 years, and the Park nearby and easily-walked surrounding neighborhood are bonuses. We would rent this again or other units from the same Owner. Also Courtney's Restaurant is not fancy but the food is homemade with fresh catches daily for reasonable prices and friendly staff/family members.

Beautiful house on a private beach

  • 5 of 5

I visited this home with my parents and young children over Christmas weekend. The house is beautiful and well laid out for a larger family to stay in. The beach is just right outside the house and it is beautiful and we were able to see a wild swan in a nearby pond. There is a screened porch and an open porch, both overlooking the water and the living room has a large glass doors overlooking the water. The owner lent us a crib and high chair for my toddler, which made the whole stay a lot easier for all of us. One thing to be aware of off-season is that there is not much open in terms of activities/stores, but we had a great time on the beach at the house and at the nearby state park. I would definitely recommend this house.

A great vacation destination!

  • 5 of 5

"Bruadair" provided everything we could have wanted in our vacation home. The amenities provided - from paper products and cleaning supplies to toiletries, towels and bed linens - were a real bonus. We enjoyed the house, the deck, the beach and the dock, but the screened-in porch was especially welcome. Everyone in our party agreed that Peggy should include a photo of the porch on the website!

We did wish there had been screens in all the windows and the sliding door in the master suite and maybe ceiling fans; we enjoy the sounds of the beach, but it was very hot and we had to turn on the air conditioner. The overview of the property is confusing in terms of the number of bedrooms and baths, since it includes information pertaining to the guest house, which is a separate rental. This is made clear when you read the details, but it was confusing initially.

The reservation process was smooth and Peggy replied quickly to my emails and provided thorough answers to my questions. The property managers were equally responsive. From beginning to end, it was a delightful experience! We are looking forward to returning to Scotland, MD and Bruadair!
