About the Property
Nice cabin on the water & access to just about any cabin amenity you would want.
***Rentals done by the week until one month ahead of that date you want to stay, UNLESS THERE IS ALREADY A PARTIAL WEEK BOOKED, then I will do 4 day minumums***
My hope with my vacation rental is to put you in position to have as much fun as possible; so much fun that you you return at least annually.
My philosophy is to under promise and over deliver. The value of your vacation is very important to me.
My home is not perfect and that is why my prices are anywhere from $300-$1500 cheaper than a “perfect” place. Personally, I have lived there and loved it! So have four additional people that have rented it for the last 3 winters that enjoyed the house, yard and the lake.
My five favorite things about the cabin are its sauna, lake water clarity and cleanliness, four stroke engine on the pontoon, the wood stove, the screened in porch and the fire pit down by the lake. Five things that I would like to improve are that both bedrooms are small, the kitchen is small but still very functional with all of the conveniences of home less a dishwasher, it is not newly remodeled, and there is a spiral stair case. There is plenty of places to play by the fire pit and next to the lake and by the cabin.
If you are looking for a great experience in the northwoods this is the place for you. Located on 432 acre Lake Minnesuing with 1 partially wooded acre. This lovely cabin has 155 feet of frontage and a sandy lake bottom with perfectly clear water. Enjoy splashing in the shallow waters off the shore (perfect for the kids), paddling or canoeing around the lake, or fishing for Bass, Northerns, Perch, Crappie, or Bluegill. There is a deck overlooking the lake, and a separate screened in porch, for relaxing and eating without bugs bothering you. There are lots of hiking trails close by, and a great fire pit next to the water to have that evening campfire, roast marshmallows, and enjoy the starry sky! This is where you come to escape from it all and be able to just relax and enjoy nature. Watch the eagle soaring overhead, and hear the call of the loons on the lake. Deer and the occasional black bear can be seen in the area.
We are within 3 miles of 2 beautiful golf courses, and a short drive to 3 state parks: Amnicon Falls for a place to hike with exceptional scenic beauty, and Patterson Park, which has the tallest waterfall in the state of Wisconsin 4th largest east of the Mississippi and the magnificent Apostle Islands located by Bayfield WI. It's only 35 miles to Hayward or 40 miles to Duluth which can be great day trips. For the adventurous, try canoeing the scenic Brule River, canoes or kayaks can be rented for a fantastic trip down the Brule or charter of fishing boat on Lake Superior.
If you enjoy the outdoors, this cabin is for you. With a wood burning fireplace, air conditioner, and screened in porch, you can enjoy this cabin in any weather.
There is a 20 foot pontoon with a 25hp four stroke Yamaha engine. 6 gallons of gas are free and I would challenge you to use a full tank.
There are towels and bedding available, or you can bring your own. The cabin will be clean and ready to use when you arrive. The kitchen is stocked with cooking utensils, pots and pans, dishes, etc, There is a stove, refrigerator, microwave, toaster, and coffee pot. Downstairs is a bath with a shower and tub. Also down stairs is the kitchen and one of two large living rooms. The upstairs living room overlooks the lake, with vaulted ceiling. Up the spiral stairs there is a double bed with bunked single bed above it, and the other bedroom has two single beds in bunk format. There is an air conditioner unit upstairs and Dehumidifier to keep you cool and dry in the basement for those warm summer days....or you can just do it the old fashion way and jump in the lake! You can usually just open the windows and get the breezes off the lake.
We have reasonable antenna TV reception, but bring movies or a good book for those occasional rainy days. There are a handful of board games available at the cabin, so you can enjoy some quality family time playing games or cards. There is an antique yellow Weber charcoal grill available, plus all the BBQ tools you need. You can enjoy your BBQ at the table or on the Screen porch. There is also a covered areas so you can grill in comfort even if it is raining.
The pontoon boat is free with the rental of the cabin There is a floating dock that we use as an additional fishing platform or a place to sit and sunbathe on the water. Included is 1 canoe, and a new current designs sea kayak, and all the paddles and flotation cushions, plus a 6 adult life vests are available. Pontoon is rated for six adults or a mixture of 8 adults and children.
We hope you will love the cabin and this area as much as we do.
The cabin is available for rental from May 4th through the end of September. At that point it becomes a long term Winter cabin rental. If you are interested in long term Winter rental, please contact me.
A $200 pet fee is required. I do not like the idea of having pets there, but I understand they are family. If you had to board them it would cost more that bringing them with. I am not concerned about them peeing on the carpet or chewing on furniture. My issue is having fur, dirt and wet dog smell (especially if it rains, or if they just got out of the lake) on everything from beds to furniture and obviously the carpet and the smell that goes along with it. My other request is that the pets stay outside or in the screened in porch. This gives them a safe place to stay, can be with your family all day and they can't wonder off at night. I hope that explains my rational on pets. I like them, but I don't want to ruin it for the next person. Thank you.

If you chose to leave the cabin, here are the things that I would do in no particular order. Go to a concert at Big Top Chautauqua, eat at the Delta Diner, canoe the Brule river, spend a day on the beaches of Lake Superior where any of the in Wisconsin rivers run into it, explore Duluth, specifically park point and Fitgers Brewery, and lasty, kayak the Apostle Islands.
Year Purchased: 2011
About the owner: In late 2011 I was offered a once in a lifetime job in Colorado and could not refuse it. I had to part with living at the cabin and nearly every time I have vacation I return to it. I am originally from Menomonie, WI and went to college in Winona, MN and Washington D.C.
Why the Owner Chose Lake Nebagamon, WI, USA:
Although I am from Menomonie, WI I have a lot of friends in this area that I have met through previous friends and while I worked in Duluth. This home was in a perfect location being 2 hours from Menomonie and less than 45 minutes from Duluth, my favorite city in Minnesota. I have dreamed about having a cabin on the lake since I was 16 and when I had the opportunity to a buy this place I was ecstatic.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Here are my five favorite things about my home. 1) The SAUNA! 10x10 sauna with changing room has an 8KW electric stove, and clear cedar interior. Great for purification and detoxification, or just to warm up. 2) The LAKE! The water is clear, clean and tastes great (even such, I am not recommending its consumption) and is wonderful to swim in. 3) The PONTOON! Whats not to love about a pontoon? It has a new 4-stroke, electric start, power tilt engine that you need not worry about stating. It is also great on gas. Swim and play from this pontoon all day! 4) The wood stove. Although summer renters will not have the opportunity to use it, it is one of my favorite things in the cabin, especially when I want to snuggle up in the winter. 5) The screened in Porch. My newest addition to the cabin provides an alternative to the unfortunate rainy day. Grills are covered for rain free cooking and bug free eating within the porch with fans to keep you cool. 6) Lake Superior. The largest freshwater lake in North America provides another destination to take the family for a wonderful day trip. Beautiful Beaches, a constant breeze, and cool, clean, refreshing water awaits you. 7) The Brule River. If you like canoeing or fishing, the Brule is Nirvana. The Brule has a lot of history, connecting Hudson Bay, Canada to the Mississippi river during the fur trade. Having canoed this river a lot, it never gets old. There are a lot of Trout and is considered by many to be one of the midwest's best trout streams. 8) Big Top Chautauqua. Although the big top is an hour away in Bayfield, WI it is worth the drive. It is a great, small concert venue that has big name artists like Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, John Prine, Merle Haggard, Lyle Lovett, Galic Storn, Beach Boys, and local favorite- Trampled by Turtles. So I have more than five things that I like it! What can I say? :)
