Overview

About the property

4 Bedroom, 3 Bathrooms, Sleeps 9-10

Our home is a 4 bedroom 3 bath. It has three levels, the main level has two master suites and sleeps 5. The bottom level has two bedrooms and sleeps 4.

Although our home is not right on the beach it is perhaps the only rental property in La Ribera where you are walking distance to the beach as well as to all the amenities offered in town. Our location in town also provides spectaclular views, not only of the beach, but also the surrounding desert and mountains. The best of all that La Ribera has to offer!

The main living area separates the two master suites and has a wall of windows that open completely to the deck for premium outdoor/indoor access.

One master suite has the luxury of a soaking tub with a view, and each bedroom opens onto the main deck.

There is a fully equipped kitchen on the main level, and a rooftop kitchen with a premium BBQ and dining table set up for six people. There is also a lower patio with a small table and chairs available. Lounge chairs are available to place in your favorite spot.

We have a 42 in flat screen set up with Blue-ray player, Ipod ready stereos for in home entertainment. Internet is available at no charge. Phone is available for local calls only, and the area has moderate cell phone signal.

For outdoor fun there is access to a kayak, a SUP, a Yamaha Rhino (add'l charge please ask), beach chairs and toys, horse shoes, and bocce ball.

La Ribera and the surrounding East cape are a A FISHERMAN'S DREAM! La Ribera is a small Mexican town located mid way between Cabo San Lucas and La Paz on the Baja Penisula. This area is often refered to as the Eastcape. The town is the home of the up and coming Marina Cabo Riviera, and provides plenty of opportunity to catch abundant fish in the Sea of Cortez. Rent a panga from the beach or travel to nearby Los Barrilles to fish on a larger sport fishing vessel. Catch marlin, tuna, rooster fish and an abundance of other species either in shore or in the open waters of the Sea of Cortez.

We are also located close to the world famous Cabo Pulmo dive location. This is a protected dive site offering you plenty of snorkelling or diving options. Our area is also know for kite boarding and sailboarding.

Beaches are plentiful if your idea is to relax in the sun, walk, look for shells and explore.

There are plenty of day trips as well if you want to get out and about a bit. Los Barrilles is a bigger town and has shopping, dining, golfing and spa opportunities. Or for even more excitement travel to Cabo San Lucas, La Paz or Todos Santos for an extended day trip.

Although this may seem like a sleepy Mexican town you will find plenty to do, or best of all be able to tune out and do nothing at all, just relax!

About Connie Pifer

We are the Pifers - Jerry, Connie, Josef and Mari. We live and work in Oregon where we own a small grocery store and a pizza parlor called CG Market and Reel Sportsmen Pizza. Jerry is also a fishing guide and runs guide trips on our boat 'Reelly Addicted' for halibut, tuna, and salmon out of Winchester Bay, Oregon. We built our Mexico home in 2010 as a family retreat and a future retirement home. We are excited to share our little piece of Mexico with you.

Connie Pifer purchased this house in 2006

Why Connie Pifer chose Baja California Sur

We are fishing fools, and fell in love with the area because you can catch big fish with out having to go way off shore. We also love this area because it is truly Mexico we try each time we visit to immerse ourselves further into the Mexican culture. This is also such a great place for the kids, waves are calm, town is safe, and people are friendly.

What makes this house unique

The most unique benefit is that La Ribera is still a Mexican village - think Cabo thirty years ago. A great place to escape the hustle and bustle of it all.

Just what we were looking for!

  • 5 of 5

The truth of the matter is that it took me a long time to write this review not because I wasn't sure but because I want to keep the place to myself.

The trip itself was incredible. We were 3 anglers staying in the house who have traveled in Baja before so we know our way around. La Ribera is a small town with a few amenities and one is able to get food items and toiletries. That said we shop in town on the way up.

The owners of this property provided second to none communication and information from the smallest query to the orientation video provided upon check-in. Really great to deal with. The house is equipped with everything you need for cooking and the rooftop patio with a BBQ came in handy for entertaining some friends.

Located just up the road from the beach, and down the street from one of my favorite restaurants, the house is well situated to get around if you have a vehicle which I highly recommend. Pick up a car at the airport, grocery shop in San Jose and then disappear into this quaint, and safe, little town that sits right on some of the worlds best beaches!

We are most definitely coming back and staying here.

Perfect Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We had a group of 9 people ranging from mid 20's to early 70's and this house was ideal for everyone (though there are a lot of stairs!). We rented the Rhino and definitely recommend it, it makes getting to the beach (which is only about a minute away if you're driving) and exploring the area a lot easier. We also rented a van in San Jose del Cabo through BBB Car Rentals and they were extremely accommodating.

The caretaker was easy to get ahold of (we didn't have hot water for a bit) and showed up quickly to solve our minor issue. He met us at the airport, helped load our luggage, took us to the rental car lot, and then to the grocery store and patiently waited for us to do some shopping. Afterwards he drove us up to the house (about 45 minutes from the airport) and the road was safe and easy to navigate.

We felt very safe in the house and had no issues with the community, they were super friendly. It's helpful to convert your money, especially if you plan on going to any of the small shops in La Ribera. I recommend spending your mornings on the rooftop patio, if you're there at the right time you can see the whales out in the Sea of Cortez! The sunrises and sunsets were absolutely beautiful and we can't wait to go back next year!

The only real complaint we had while there is that the two bedrooms on the main floor are right off of the storage space for the Rhino, so they smelled pretty strong of gas fumes and the neighbor kept pushing dog poop into the yard, which wasn't the nicest scent to wake up to on a hot morning. All rooms have their own air conditioner, large doors to outside, and fans, so keeping the air circulating wasn't too difficult.

Owner's Response: Thanks Kylie for the good review. Wanted to let people know that bottom bedrooms can be securely accessed via the outside so you can avoid the garage pretty easily. Also not sure where dog poop would be coming from, we only have one neighbor and they do not have any dogs, and are rarely in residence. We have done some additional fencing to help keep neighborhood dogs out of the yard entirely. Thanks again - hope to have you back - Connie

Totally Enjoyable!

  • 5 of 5

Myself and two friends stayed in this La Ribera house for a week in March. We had a wonderful time sunbathing and generally relaxing. The house itself was VERY clean. It had a very well stocked kitchen (cutlery, etc.). The deck areas were very well-layed out and inviting. We didn't understand the lay-out of the house before going and didn't realize that one person had to be isolated from the others at night--the third and fourth bedrooms are locked up separately off the garage--but it worked out well for us, and we had plenty of room. We did not walk to the beach as it was quite a trek in the sun, but it could be done. It is a very short drive and the beach is amazing and very private/quiet even on the weekends. We met the caretaker and the owner while at the house. Both were very helpful and accommodating. Even though La Ribera is a small town, we found nice restaurants and drove into Los Barilles several times for outings. The house felt very safe--even for 3 ladies staying alone. Our biggest problem was that we could not stay longer!! Definitely recommended!

Owner's Response: Thank you very much! Would like to let future renters know that yes the staircase is on the outside of the house as is typical for many homes in the area. It connects the upstairs roof patio with the other parts of the home. It is possible to sleep 3 people in separate beds in the upstairs bedrooms, 6 total (in the main part of the house). One upstairs bedroom has a queen bed and a twin, the other a queen. The downstairs bedrooms can be accessed from the inside as well as from sliding glass doors on the porch giving the occupants their own outdoor spot to enjoy. They are very secure, the sliding glass doors have key locks and door stops, which also makes it nice for a quiet late night entry :) Please feel free to ask questions about sleeping arrangements or any details about the house when renting - I love to talk about our little piece of Mexico! - Connie

Peace, beauty and relaxation

  • 5 of 5

The house was beautiful with many angles at which to enjoy the magnificent view. The beaches were clean and close and the locals were friendly and helpful. We even got a local to take us out in his Panga. The house provided everything we needed....ample space to make pico de gallo and guacamole every night. It was great to get away from the hustle and bustle. Our few day trips to the bigger towns was enough to get our souvenirs and buy groceries. The house definitely provided a "Vacation!" We were able to visit the local hot springs, go snorkeling and try our hands at kayaking, so many adventures were found.

Vacationers dream

  • 5 of 5

The house was spectacular! Everything household-related was there to accommodate our three week stay in La Ribera. All of the finishings were high quality and I felt like I was staying at a fancy hotel.

La Ribera is fairly removed from towns with amenities like a supermarket and restaurants so having a car is nearly essential. We loved how it was so far from the typical Cabo scene and tourist attractions. The beaches were almost always empty except for on the weekends.

We rented the Rhino (4x4) from the owners for our stay for pretty cheap and that made getting around La Ribera and exploring the beaches possible as well as adventurous! A must! Especially if not renting a car.

The owners were very helpful with instructions and their groundskeeper even waited an extra two hours for our late arrival. Thanks Ulises!!

We went to La Ribera because of the areas well-known sport fishing reputation. We were a little disappointed to find not as large amount as we expected, from shore or boat. But we caught enough to feed ourselves for our stay.

Come stay here if you are looking for solitude and comfort!!
