About the property

Bedrooms 5, Bathrooms 3.5, Sleeps 15

Spruce lodge, located on the west bench, is a five bedroom, 3.5 bath property that can accommodate up to 15 guests. The home is a rustic yet fully equipped log lodge that overlooks the city of Red Lodge from its enormous east deck. This upper level deck is located off the great room and has two large tables with outdoor BBQ. There are unobstructed Red Lodge Ski Mountain and Beartooth Mountain views to the west. It would be difficult to match the setting of this home and in fact it is the only home in the village of Red Lodge perched on the western bench. The property offers privacy and seclusion on its 13 in-town acres, yet it is mere blocks to downtown Red Lodge.

The lodge was professionally decorated by 'Whispering Pines' Boutique of Red Lodge. Most of the furniture and accessories were ordered specifically for this home and the photo gallery speaks to the result. There are living rooms on two levels of this three story lodge, the space is ideal for an extended family or several families combined. This home is welcoming and can deliver an authentic Montana lodging experience. You will get the feeling that you're staying in your own mountain home because the property is not ever used as the owner's vacation getaway. There are no photographs or personal effects that might intrude on your own private vacation experience. The home is arranged as follows:The upper level loft has two queen beds with an additional twin. This level has a full bath. The main level contains the fully equipped kitchen with breakfast bar, open great room, dining area, master suite, laundry room, half bath and ski room/reading nook entry. The master suite with a king bed is on this main floor and its bath has a walk-in tiled shower. Additionally there is large closet / dressing room en suite. There is Wi-Fi throughout the house and a MAC computer in the great room. The lower level has a living room with TV plus three bedrooms and a bath. Two of the bedrooms have a bunk with a queen sized bed and a twin. The third bedroom has two twins. All of these bedrooms have enormous closets. Access to the covered 6 person hot tub, patio and seasonal outdoor shower is from this lower level. There is ample parking for six vehicles. There is parking on the road outside the main gate for additional parking but we don't solicit or sanction large gatherings....indoors or out. Two dozen people would be reasonable capacity for a party or celebration. We ask that you respect this request as this is a family lodge. We don't intend to be the destination party venue for enormous groups. The property fronts the ~3mile long Red Lodge hiking and biking trail which leads to an enclosed dog park. We are pet friendly. It is an easy stroll on this same path to the Rodeo of Champions fairgrounds to the west. The south lawn has a horseshoe pit with pins permanently installed. Horseshoes are provided. Spruce Lodge hopes to host you soon for your family vacation. Your Montana Mountain experience awaits!!

Location was great, close to town, yet still plenty of wildlife and great view.

The property was very outdated. The appliances were old, refrigerator had difficulty keeping up when filled. There was a spiral staircase the ran from top floor to bottom that was very steep and especially hard for older guests and youngsters to navigate safely. Deck was in the process of being refinished. The lodge was very clean.

Spruce Lodge perfect for our family gathering

  • 5 of 5

We were greeted upon arrival with a buck in velvet sitting under the tree by door. The log cabin look was welcoming and furnished comfortably with seating and sleeping for all. This entire home was so clean and provided many locations inside to visit, play games, watch tv. All kitchen tools provided had us gathered around the bar while we made meals. Close to down town and activities. We had coffee outside on deck in the morning while watching a mom deer and 2 fawns. We gathered out there in the evening, too. Most of our day trips were within 30 min. Of Spruce Lodge. Great place to gather!

Beautiful and Functional!

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay at Spruce Lodge! We had 5 adults and 2 small children. One family was upstairs, one downstairs with plenty of room for bedrooms and play with the children, and I was on the main floor in the master. We had room to spread out but enjoy each other's company. The spiral staircases are not the easiest to navigate (would not work for disabled), but are fine if you are careful. There is a baby gate at the top of the stairs to the basement which was very helpful.

There were deer in our yard every day, even a doe and a darling fawn.

The lodge is well stocked with dishes, pots and pans and amenities for cooking. We had plenty of towels and bedding although we could have used a few more blankets for the basement crew.

The only negative that we found is that keeping the temperature comfortable for everyone is a bit tricky with 3 levels and no a/c. Some nights the basement group were really cold while the rest on the main floor and upstairs were just right. There are lots of windows to open and they have screens.

The location is just perfect....a mile or so to downtown, and yet private up on the hill overlooking Red Lodge. There is lots of privacy at the lodge and a beautiful view.

We would stay there again!

We stayed here for a long weekend as we were in town for a family wedding. We were a little leery as it was the first time we had 15 of us family members staying under the same roof for more than a day! But the lodge was very spacious and plenty of rooms to hide out in! The location was also perfect. Right on the top of the hill where you can overlook town. Plus not many neighbors so it was fun to roam free a bit. However, it was a quick 2 minute drive to the grocery store. We had deer a couple of the days up next to the lodge; we were hoping to see a bear, but never did. The house itself was very cozy and welcoming. Very clean and nicely kept. One thing that took us for surprise was there was no A/C, and a couple of the days it was HOT. But we managed and at night it did cool off plenty, so we had windows open. We would definitely stay here again. As far as things to do in the area, we recommend the pig races. Also went horseback riding, I think the name was Elkhorn, and that was a very cool ride. Nice and slow and incredible views!!

View is amazing so is the house!

  • 5 of 5

Overlooking the town of Red Lodge this place is amazing! Spruce Lodge can hold so many and than some! We have already decided a ski trip with family is in our future! We used the place as the center for activities for our daughters wedding. Our daughter and her 6 bridesmaids got their makeup and hair done in the living room with the fantastic sunlight and view thru the floor to ceiling windows so perfect! We even saw a mother bear and cub on their romp past the deck during the beauty time and it couldn't have been more perfect! Anyone who stopped to visit was impressed with the view and the size of the house. Definitely a favorite, it has everything...amazing view, room for everyone, beauty inside and out, not right in town but so close didn't feel too far away but still your own space to enjoy! Love the whole place we will be back!

Beautiful inside and out.

  • 5 of 5

This property was outstanding, and the views are excellent. The location was convenient to downtown, but also near open spaces and we had deer in our yard every day and a hiking trail at the end of the driveway. It was immaculately clean, the kitchen was well-equipped, and there were plenty of common spaces for our large family group. We were in town for a location wedding and having this home as our base was perfect. The pictures they shot here are fantastic. The only caution I have is that the stairs up and down to most of the bedrooms are circular, and were very difficult for the elderly people in our party, and would probably not be a great choice for small children either. The management company was very responsive to any questions we had. Would love to come back to the area and this property.
