Welcome to 18 The Scores, located in the heart of St. Andrews, Fife. Number 18 is a beautifully decorated, fully furnished, 19th century villa located on the Scores of St. Andrews! This home has been awarded with a 4 star rating from the Scottish Tourist Board.

The location is less than a two minute walk along the seafront to the Royal & Ancient Golf Club. In the opposite direction, yet just as close, lie the ruins of the Castle of St. Andrews. The centre of town is a very short walk, literally just around the corner.

The accommodations consist of five bedrooms, living room, dining room, kitchen, two and one half bathrooms, and a conservatory. The bedrooms have been individually decorated and each retains its own special character. The fifth bedroom is a large converted attic measuring 18 x 17. This space is ideal for a family or a number of children. The sleeping arrangements can accommodate up to 8 adults or a combination of adults and children totaling 10. No Smoking is allowed.

The living room is a comfortable setting for social evenings of cards, conversation, or watching television. The formal dining room can accommodate our guests for dinner as well as having a cozy reading area with two sofas. The kitchen is very spacious with new appliances throughout. For a family feast, with numerous cooks, the kitchen has more than adequate room for food preparation.

The conservatory has become one of the most used rooms in the house. Early morning sunlight streams into this room making it ideal for morning coffees and afternoon teas. Through the conservatory is a large mature garden. A patio with outdoor tables and seating for ten makes this an ideal spot to relax and enjoy the garden. There is also a Weber barbecue to be enjoyed for outdoor grilling.

The essentials include a large, well-equipped kitchen with gas stove top and two ovens, microwave, refrigerator/freezer, and dishwasher. The conservatory includes a washing machine and dryer. This home also features a large flat screen TV with Free View, a DVD player, a stereo with CD player, telephone, wi-fi, and full central heating. There is also a printer/copier/scanner/fax machine on the premises.

A Dream Come True!

The other reviews exude the praises of this amazing property. I'd like to focus on three aspects that made it so special for us. First, the kitchen is spacious and so well stocked that we could make even complex meals for our family and all be in the space together. And then we would eat in the sun room; eat, sit and talk, read - in short, we practically lived in that magic space and enjoyed the flowers in the garden. We grilled a few nights as well. And finally, because of the location we walked out morning, afternoon and evening, no need for a car. I would shop at the butcher, the fish store, the bakery each day for all we needed and it was only a few minutes from home. It doesn't get better than this!

Remarkable experience

My family stayed at this beautiful home for a week in June, as we celebrated my daughter's graduation from the University. It was our third visit to SA, so we have come to know the town well. The location was absolutely ideal - both for golf and for the various events at the University. We traveled with our elderly parents, and then were able to walk just about everywhere - from the Jigger Inn to the ruins. The house is beautifully decorated and yet comfortable, and spacious end-ouch to easily accommodate the large group that we had. From the beginning of our inquiries almost two years ago, the owners have been highly professional and delightful to work with, and their property overseer was immediately responsive, warm and friendly. We cannot recommend this house any more strongly than to say we hope to return for a golf vacation and would think of nowhere else to stay should it be available. Five stars all the way.

Amazing property and perfect location, location lo

The property is in the perfect location to allow you to walk to many sites and restaurants. The sunroom is a great gathering place after a round of golf! Well maintained and clean. Owners and property manager are excellent. Pleasant to deal with and quick to respond to any questions. Used it as our home base for golfing in and around St. Andrews. Will definately like to go back!

Great central location for St. Andrews golf

Our group of 8 golfers recently stayed and it was absolutely brilliant! Superb location to St. Andrews' links and all the local pubs and eateries. All of us were quite pleased with the bedrooms and amenities offered. Paula, the manager, met us on day one and showed us everything. She is very kind and polite and a breeze to work with. The house was very clean and well maintained. We enjoyed the outside seating area, where we played cards and enjoyed the Scottish evenings. Parking can be a bit daunting at times, but we never had to park our vehicles more than 100 yards from the house. I would not hesitate to recommend this property as it was exactly as the description.

Perfect holiday/vacation

A group of 5 of us stayed for a long weekend as a 20-year reunion, having attended the university in the mid 1990s. It was to be a very special weekend with friends visiting from all corners of the globe, and the house ensured the weekend was as special as could be. With sea views from the front bedrooms (and even the quiet hum of the North Sea waves with open windows) and a great garden for entertaining, we thoroughly enjoyed the house. A choice of several beaches and castle ruins were only a few minutes' walk away from the doorstep, as were some glorious pubs. (In particular, I'd recommend the Russell on the corner for a whisky and the Doll's House for dinner -- but book early.) Rooms were spacious and well decorated, and the kitchen and conservatory worked well for a large group. I'd thoroughly recommend this house.

Definitely a HOLE IN ONE!!!

Wow!!!!! Cozy, spacious, full of character, convenient, comfortable, clean, fun, a little taste of Scotland..................the list of adjectives could go on and on!!! We rented for a week with two families because our husbands had a business conference at the Old Course Hotel. We couldn't afford the rates with college/high school kids in tow so we started a search in the area. Finding this property was like finding gold. The rent was extremely reasonable, the house was very comfortable for all 10 of us and everybody that was staying at the Old Course Hotel was envious of us and our accommodations. We had all the comforts of home enjoying breakfast outside in the morning at the table in the garden, relaxing and visiting in the beautiful glass solarium, watching a soccer game altogether in the study and all having personal sleeping quarters. The convenience to the course/Old Course Hotel/beach was remarkable as well as running up two blocks to the Fisher McDonald Bakery for delicious famous Fudge Donuts in the morning. All the restaurants, grocery stores, shopping are all two short blocks walk and the campus of St. Andrews University is literally right next door. Great pubs start less than a block away and continue within a couple of blocks. The owners were very helpful and easy to work with as well. We are from Grand Rapids, Michigan USA and can't wait to find somebody traveling to Scotland to recommend this home to. Like stated before............definitely a HOLE IN ONE!
