You'll never get tired of the view out the massive dining and living room windows.
Retired Air Force. Visited for years (wife's relatives from pei). Love most the people on the island. Love to attend ceilidhs on the island. One somewhere every night of the week during the summer months (they are addicting and fun time for all ages). This the second place I have owned on the island. Love it so much just had to come back again. Cottage not campy more up scale decor great ever changing views.
Charles Sullivan purchased this cottage in 2013
I took months looking for this special place. I am sure you will fall in love with it also.
What past renters say. 'It was so quiet we could hear the birds wings beating as they flew over' (John) ' there was a new moon while we were there and could easily see the Milky Way. Something for city people' (John). Lynn wrote 'cottage absolutely lovely...even better than your pictures. Everyone is thrilled and your decor and style is making us feel right at home...it truly does seem like paradise here. We are all set and quite content'. I will send you there reviews
this was our 2nd year renting Osprey and we have already planned for next year to be our third year. the house is clean, and on a beautiful piece of property that we didn't need to leave (could spend all day watching the ocean sparkle, the kite boarders do their thing, or the birds scouting the water for meals) but when we did, it was near great beaches, restaurants, shopping and everything necessary for the perfect PEI vacation. Owner is very responsive.
Osprey Cottage is fantastic! Really more of a home away from home than a cottage. The cottage was very clean and well maintained. All furnishings are wonderful and the kitchen has everything you will need if you plan on cooking there. Location is great. Close to many of the Green Gables attractions and several terrific beaches. The beach in front of the cottage is great but the water is quite shallow. Would be great for families with younger children. Ours are older so we found Thunder Cove beach to be better...highly recommend it. We would also recommend taking in a Ceilidh. There are several in the area. Lots of fun if you like music and want a really unique island experience.
Charles the owner was terrific. He provided lots of tourist information prior to our stay and remained in touch during the week to make sure everything was ok.
We would definitely recommend Osprey Cottage to anyone looking to go to PEI.
This is more a summer home than a cottage with beautiful finishes, engineered hardwood throughout (no sketchy carpeting) and well maintained super comfy leather couches. Very spacious, airy and none of those musty smells that some seaside cottages have. Not much curb appeal from the front but the back deck and yard with its awesome views of the bay were worth it.
Can get very windy here which is great for the kiteboarders and also for keeping mosquitoes away.
Have been to PEI before so we mostly relaxed, "played" golf and went to the beach. Thunder Cove by far the best beach on the North Shore even though no facilities. Bonus is that it only 10 minutes from the house. Beach by the house was great for beach combing.
We cooked a lot in the kitchen which was well equipped. Near by Oyster Barn was a gem to buy fresh seafood to take home. There is a restaurant on the top floor. We would often go have a drink a dozen oysters upstairs and then go downstairs to get our seafood to take home for dinner.
Charles, the owner, is really fantastic with lots of great insiders tips and very helpful.
Great place for kiteboarders, families, seafood lovers or anyone wanting to get away.
I would definitely recommend.
The cottage is a wonderful place to be when visiting Prince Ecward Island. It's well appointed and fully furnished to meet a families needs. It has all the comforts of home and is cozy but spacious. The outdoor space is amazing with great views of water and lots of green yard for the kids to play in. We loved sitting on the deck to watch the kite boarders. The owner was very helpful in providing information about things to do in the area and was always willing to help with any questions. E really enjoyed the cottage!
We just finished a wonderful week at the Osprey cottage.
The view of the bay and the night time sky are remarkable and we even had a bald eagle that frequently flew by the backyard.
The cottage is well appointed and tasteful and little details were thought of (like an island map, bug spray, a brand new washer and dryer and a well stocked kitchen).
Also, the location is great......nearby some of the best restaurants and beaches on the island. So the guide books frequently talk about Brackley Beach or Greenwich Beach (both of which we checked out) but nearby Thunder Cove is the best beach we visited (gentle surf, white sand AND sand stone caves with NO jelly fish....but no facilities). Other activities nearby include kayaking around the corner and deep sea fishing out of Malpeque Harbor (We went with Captain Dale and caught 7 fish). The Confderation Trail can be picked up 10 minutes away.
As far as restaurants...don't miss the Malpeque Oyster Barn for the best oysters you will ever try. Also worth noting are: The Blue Mussel Cafe (North Rustico), The Dunes Cafe (Brackley) and The Point Prim Chowder House (A far drive but worth it).
Most of all the owner was a pleasure to rent from. He was very pro-active in orienting us and going out of his way to make our week a great one....if you are the fence between properties then Charles should break the tie.....attention to details.
Great house in a beautiful spot. amazing piece of land. the house has everything you will ever need for a family vacation and yet we didn't need much of it. completely entertained by sitting on the deck watching kite surfers and taking in all the area has to offer. the owner was great with information and lots of local recommendations. we will be back for sure!
Osprey Cottage is perfectly situated in the heart of Prince Edward Island's North Shore with all it's amenities but yet sits quietly on a one acre beachfront lot allowing for privacy and space for those days when you simply don't want to budge from this extraordinary property. Cabot Provincial Park is only a few minutes drive for supervised swimming and children's activity area World class golf is just a short hop and skip from your home base at Osprey. Kayak rentals are a 3 minute walk. Kite surfing on the bay (what a thrill as many as 14 at a time). Closest ceilidh is 5 minute drive and is a must see, be there early to get a good seat. Wednesday night. Anne of Green Gables 25 minute drive. Biking 440 kilometers on confederation trail (get on in kensington (15 minute drive). Great island church dinner nearby. College of piping in Sumerside 30 minutes away.
