Why Rachel Neidich-Rook chose Menlo
We love Lookout Mountain and Menton. It is one of the most unique geographical areas in the south east. Our family are avid outdoor enthusiasts and we love the outdoor activities available in this area. There are great hiking, biking, and hunting activities right out the back door of the house.
What makes this House unique
We're right in the middle of it all! And guess what? it's a great price... heck, just because there's wallpaper in two of the bathrooms (still a work in progress) we will offer our house at a competitive price you can't pass up!
100% refund if canceled at least 30 days before arrival date. 50% refund if canceled at least 14 days before arrival date.
Quiet secluded retreat
This property was definitely the centerpoint of all the areas we wanted to hit neighborhood dogs and cats seem to show up but we did see squirrels hummingbirds different other birds Lightning bugs relaxing on the back porch was worth it all house is very nice has a lot of character
Location is great if you can stand the music!
Not sure what was located next door but you get a very uncomfortable feeling on the back porch during the night and the neighbor is blaring over a speaker some kind of crazy music from 10:30 p.m. til 8:30 a.m. I do not sleep much and was very excited about the screened porch, which was in bad need of sweeping and spraying for spiders. Needless to say the music was a bit unsettling during the night. We were not impressed with the bed downstairs, it had no box springs to the mattress which made for a really low bed and somewhat hard. We did not cook while we were there and coffee cups and coffee pot where the only dishes used. I opened the dishwasher out of curiosity as I hand washed the cups and pot, I turned the door a loose and it fell to the floor with my feet under it! I now have a large swollen place that is blue on the top of my feet. I washed all linens including bed linens and swept all floors before we left. It was much cleaner when we left than it was when we arrived. I also folded the large load of clothes the cleaning person left in the dryer. We did love the location and do plan to find a cabin in that area, maybe different road, next time we visit.
One of the Worst Places Ever
This property probably was once a very nice cabin in the woods, but it has been neglected. The wallpaper is coming off the bathroom walls and the king size bed is an older mattress on a piece of plywood on a metal bed frame. Did not use the beds upstairs. The couch in the living room is two pieces of foam rubber covered with fabric, not even stitched on the end There are holes in fabric of another piece of furniture, and the cushions in the chairs need replacing. Don't try to find a toaster, there isn't one. There is only one knife, but there are very old steak knives on the counter wood block. Lots of spoons and forks. Very few old cooking pans and the ovens are very dirty. We did not cook or use the ovens. There are lots of droppings from termites and watch out for the ticks and mosquitos. There is a friendly cat, don't know where it belonged. Without screens, there is no way to get fresh air in the place. Heater, which was not needed, had a note on it that it was not in working order Lastly, but probably should have mentioned earlier, there is no TV, radio, cell service, or telephone and the internet does not work, password may have been changed. The combination on the front door did not work properly (could have been operator error)and we had to use a spare key that was locked by the door. Tried to get in touch with owner a couple of times, but did not have the courtesy to respond. Sheets and pillows need replacing. Hard to find at night, not marked from highway, and water hydrant is down a ditch not readily visible from road. Could go on, but what is the point. Definitely not a good experience.
Great mountain retreat!
This cabin was beautiful, spacious, and a lovely place to spend the weekend. The large windows, high ceilings, great patio, and fireplace all made the experience memorable.
It’s always so nice to unplug for the weekend, and this home provided the perfect venue. Rachel was a great host and the hospitality was unmatched. We will definitely be back!
We enjoyed our stay at this cabin. It was clean and offered our family the opportunity to spread out. It rained the entire trip so we unfortunately did not get to do any hiking but did enjoy our time in Chattanooga which was a nice hour drive away. My only complaint would be that the couch is extremely uncomfortable.
Our cabin is located between and within a 15 mile radius of Camp: Alpine, Skyline, Lookout Mtn, Juliette Low,Valley, Veiw Ranch, Adahi, Woodmont, New Dawn, Desoto, Laney, Comer Scout Resevation
