While it’s easy to confuse Long Lake as there are over 25 lakes so named within the borders of Maine, this Long Lake is closely associated with St. Agatha surrounding portions of the lake with Caribou 25 miles, Van Buren 8 miles, Fort Kent 30 miles, Presque Isle 38 miles. Long Lake is the deepest of the Fish River chain of lakes and covers 6000 acres with a maximum water depth of 163 ft., and over 7 miles long. The surrounding land is primarily forest land and agricultural.
The 1600 sq. ft. Lake House sleeps 6 adults (additional guests require cost increase and prior authorization from owner) comfortably in addition to basement space offering a pool table, piano, and lakeside level access. The cottage has a fully-equipped kitchen with all appliances including microwave, convection oven, stove, warming drawer, and coffee maker. Other features include Canadian rockers, a king Master bed with comfortable mattress/pads/linens attached to a half bath. The 2nd Bedroom is a queen size with comfortable mattress/pads/linens. The 3rd bedroom offers full size bunk beds with comfortable mattresses/pads/linens. A 2nd full bathroom is furnished with bath and beach towels.
A wraparound deck allows for full lake visibility and lounging. A screened in gazebo on deck allows for outdoor dining, relaxation, happy hour, reading, bird watching, chess matches, etc. A large propane-fueled grill is located on the deck near an adjoining door to the kitchen.
Other amenities include a private boat-launching ramp, high-speed internet, ceiling fans, a/c, radiant heat fireplace, washer and dryer, satellite TV, family games, life jackets, pool table, windsurfer, outdoor fire pit, hammock, croquet set, and a piano.
This vacation Lake House sits in a coved area on Long Lake, ideal for viewing bald eagles and fishing daily in front of the cottage. It is situated in a private location, which requires access to this part of the lake via private road or water. There is no thruway traffic!
This year round Lake House could not be duplicated today being a mere 20 feet from the water’s edge. It features water views throughout the lakeside of the cottage. It is a bird watcher’s haven with a bald eagle nest around the bend. Located in a peaceful and quiet part of the lake, the property is surrounded with an international twist of camp owners, both French Canadians and Americans. Acadian and Irish Settlers were the first to inhabit the area with a strong Native American presence. The small-town spirit and appreciation for their heritage is quite evident today as the French language is commonly heard.
There is a 40’ private dock for fishing, swimming, lounging. The lake has a shallow entry from the shoreline with a gradual increase in depth that is ideal for children and older adults. Ducks, loons, eagles will be constant water companions.
Salmon, brook trout, trout, rainbow smelt are the principal fishery. The lake supports a sport fishery for brook trout and landlocked salmon of statewide significance with salmon averaging 16” in length. Ice fishing is open January 1 through March 31.
Closest grocery store is 8 miles away in Van Buren, Maine. Nearby guide services and rental equipment for winter and summer activities are available. (Snowmobiles, snow skis, kayaks, canoes, boating, jet ski, etc.)

Diane Futch purchased this Cottage in 2002
Why Diane Futch chose Grand Isle
This property has one of the best views of the lake. With clear weather, daily magnificent sunsets are a regular occurrence. With large windows wrapped around the lakeside, views are continuous throughout the day from the kitchen, family room, sitting and dining areas. It is easy to become mesmerized by the views and forget about projects needing attention.
What makes this Cottage unique
Just being in Maine is a 'unique benefit' in and of itself. Best of all, the lake house is a gem and provides the kind of retreat from the pressures of daily life. What's more, it is a haven for children. It is centrally located amongst French communities in the 'The Valley'. With two Universities within 45 minutes from the cottage and the Canadian border less than 6 miles away. Short or long excursions can take you to Quebec City 3 hours away or Olympic trials for biathlon ski competitions 40 minutes away. For snowmobile activist, one of the main trails is located on the other side of the lake. Fisherman and boating enthusiasts have a private boat ramp with opportunities for brook trout, lake trout fishing, and ice fishing at their fingertips.

Fantastic Fall Follage
This was by far the best VRBO I've stayed in! The property is beautiful, well maintained, and filled with plenty of amenities. The floor to ceiling windows provided an amazing view of the lake and follage. The property manager, Mike, made our stay even more pleasant and Diane, the owner, is quick to respond to any need. If I could give this house more than five stars, I would! It is everything and more that you could possibly want in a vacation home!
Thank you for your business Donna. The foliage is to die for in northern Maine. So pleased that it was more than you were expecting.
Thank you for your kind words.
The house and location was everything we had hoped it would be, the house is very nice and the views out over the lake are exceptional. The property supervisor, Mike, is very helpful and personable and was available if anything would have gone wrong however we didn't need him due to everything working well. I would rent this property again if we ever vacationed there again. The owner of the property was prompt and courteous in all my correspondence with her. Overall a great experience.
Thank you for your kind comments wrt to our Lake House. I have to agree, the views are breathtaking and become part of the memories of your vacation at our Lake House. Thank you for your business.
Look no further for perfect home to enjoy your getaway! This home exceeded our expectations - so well equipped, absolutely spotless and so comfortable. This place has it all - great beds, fantastic view, and all the amenities you could be looking for. Mike was wonderful and checked in to make sure we had everything we needed and to answer any questions. We hope to be able to visit this lovely location again!
Thank you Ellen. You and your family were wonderful guests and always welcome.
We really enjoyed our stay at the cottage! It was perfectly cleaned and at a perfect location on the lake. The sunsets are amazing! This is the place to be if you really want to relax :-)) We brought a seadoo while we were there and we really enjoyed the lake with the kids.
I would trully recommend to anyone!!
The property manager, Mike, is a really nice man, very helpful, so are the neighbors, from which we borrowed a tube. We will be back next year!
Merci beaucoup Martine. So happy it all worked out for you and your family. The sunsets are never ending at this lake house. So glad you enjoyed your stay. Thank you for taking the time to write a review. Your words mean more to future guests than anything I can ever say. Looking forward to having you return one day. Diane and Lee

Perfect getaway and a gem on the lake!!
Long Lake, Northern Maine is the perfect getaway! Clean, fresh air, beautiful sunsets, clear starry nights and an escape from the usual fast-paced hassles of daily life. Diane's camp is a gem on the lake with beautiful, unobstructed views from one end to the other. The deck of the house juts out to the edge of the water and makes it feel like you are sitting on the deck of a boat. From the deck we watched numerous birds and ducks swoop into the water catching fish. Our favorite visitor was a nearby bald eagle who flew by nearly every day. Besides the fantastic views, Diane's camp had all that we needed for a memorable vacation. Plenty of games for the kids to play, a kayak to use on the water and all the amenities of home. Kitchen supplies were plentiful as were linens and laundry items. Thank you, Diane, for sharing your place and providing guests with all they need for a perfect getaway. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and are looking forward to many more!
I appreciate your comments, especially the views, and being able to de-stress from the hustle and bustle of life. Your comments are important for others to understand and appreciate our listing. You and your family were wonderful guests. Looking forward to your return.
