very nice and comfortable

  • 4 of 5

My sisters, mom and I had a wonderful time in Eureka at this Victorian home. This was the first time we had gotten together since our father/husband passed in January. We talked, ate breakfast, put together a puzzle and basically chilled. It was nice to have this special time and the accommodations were wonderful. Fully stocked kitchen to cook our own meals, comfy beds and a nice backyard to enjoy the early morning crispness. I would visit this home again if the opportunity arises. Thanks Ron and Melanie!

Central location and comfortable house

  • 5 of 5

My family really enjoyed staying at this property. Some areas of Eureka were a little sketchy, but we always felt safe here. My only suggestion is to spend a little money and buy a flat screen TV instead of the outdated one that is there. Newer devices won't hook up to it and limit the entertainment. Other than this minor item, it was great.

Exactly what we were looking for

  • 4 of 5

We had a family reunion with 8 adults, one 4 year old and two babies under 1. This was the perfect location between Meyer's Flat and Crescent City, which where the area's we were interested in visiting. Although we weren't to impressed with the city of Eureka, the home worked out great! We had lots of room and enjoyed our stay there. The owners were very good working with us and helping us plan our vacation.

Nice and comfortable

Nice easy location to get around Eureka. Plenty of room for our group, but only beds for 9, other on nice air mattress. Clean, laundry available, garage for two cars if needed. Owner very responsive and nice. Would recommend.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the review on our property. We are sorry the sleeping arrangements did not work out as you hoped. We advertise the property as sleeping UP TO ten. The ability to do this depends entirely on sleeping arrangements. With two king sized beds, two double beds. and single bed, along with a queen size blow up bed, and a single blow up bed this home can usually accommodate ten guests.

Very nice old home and recommended, but needing a few tweaks

  • 4 of 5

The size of this old home is great and it's in pretty great shape. We were there for a wedding and the house and its bedrooms accommodated us all very comfortably. The kitchen in particular is updated, spacious, light and pleasant. There was an abundance of "left" useful items, I presume, by other guests. (Very thankful for those left items.) The parlor is also quite pleasant but could use a few more comfy chairs. The double beds were quite comfortable. Plenty of hot water for showers and the heating was very efficient. (Gets cold in Eureka at night, even in the summer!) On the whole, we really enjoyed the stay and we thank the owner for allowing us the use of the house. The owners went out of their way to be helpful with us.

There are a few things that could use a bit of improvement. Folks coming from outside Eureka should know about the high crime nature of the place. You really have to garage your car to prevent break-ins. The house should provide two garage door openers and two sets of keys, since it can accommodate nine people plus. The front bedroom where we stayed has no drapes, just see-through curtains: all bedroom windows need drapes.

If I were to stay in Eureka again with my (big) family, I would definitely have this property in mind. Great owners/managers. Just beware of the high crime nature of Eureka: car break-ins are apparently so frequent, the police can't do anything about them.
