About the property

Custom Log Home With Panoramic View. Hot Tub,fire Pit,game Room, wifi!

Step inside, relax, and enjoy your stay. This new, custom log home was built with the intention of offering a private, serene location to enjoy with family and friends and in which to create lasting memories. No detail has been overlooked to help you feel at home and to ensure your first stay will not be your last.

You will immediately feel your tension release as you drink in the views from inside or outside of the home. Each oversized window or two large decks features breathtaking views of the mountains and valleys. Please be on the lookout for the two hawks circling the property after which we derived our name.

This home features many upgrades including granite countertops throughout, tiled-floor baths, custom cabinetry and stonework, a gas burning fireplace, Wifi internet, surround sound stereo, and tastefully designed decor chosen to create an ambiance of comfort and relaxation.

The heart of the home, the kitchen, is complete with an oversized granite-topped island surrounded with stonework, custom carved Hickory wood cabinetry and winerack, tile flooring, stainless steel refrigerator with icemaker and water filter, dishwasher, flat-top stove, oven, Cuisinart coffee maker, toaster and many cooking items, dishes, and utensils needed to make a memorable meal.

Step into the greatroom off of the kitchen to enjoy your view from the two-story panoramic windows. This room features vaulted ceilings, a gas-burning fireplace to warm up to on chilly nights as well as a flat screened tv should you want to feel connected to the outside world. Or, step out of this room onto the large three sided deck. Feel free to use the telescope for sky gazing or the binoculars for spotting birds and wildlife. On this deck you will find a large Jacuzzi with color changing lights, surrounding speakers, robe hooks, and breathtaking views. There is also a gas grill for cookouts and four rockers in which to relax and share stories.

There are three floors in the home with room to spread out on each. No matter which bedroom you choose, each offers a panoramic view of the sunrise peaking over the mountains in the morning. What a great way to start the day!

The main floor master bedroom features a queen custom Alpine wood bed from Colorado. The room contains collectibles from the owner's travels to Norway and offers a Scandinavian feel. The upper master features a queen wrought iron and wood bed offering a truly lodge-like feel. This room is very spacious and could easily hold a crib as well. The upper bunk room is built with fun in mind! There is a bunk bed and single bed. Again, each of these three single beds will have a gorgeous view of the mountains out of the oversized window. The basement level bedroom contains a queen bed, private tile-floored bathroom, large closet, and large window. Outside of this bedroom is the gameroom. This is where a fun time is to be had by kids of all ages! Featuring a competition-sized ping pong table, a Connelly professional 8x4 pool table, dart board, flat screen tv, Wii, and board games. This room contains a comfortable sofa that converts into a double bed. Just outside of this spacious, tile-floored game room is another three-sided deck on which to relax and enjoy the views from its wooden rockers. There you will also find the wood pile to use in the log fire pit just down from this deck. Complete with wooden Aderondack chairs and skewers, we hope you will enjoy roasting marshmallows and hot dogs or just breathing in the crisp mountain air while listening to the crackling fire, rustling leaves, or chirping crickets.

This mountain top property is situated on 2.5 wooded acres and surrounded by the Blue Ridge Mountains. Its' circular driveway provides easy access to and from the home. Depending on the rain fall in the area, you might hear the small bubbling creek on the property. The landscape contains many native flowering shrubs, and trees, oversized rocks, as well as birds and wildlife.

Unfortunately, we cannot control the weather this time of year. The gravel roads on the mountain are private, and are not always cleared immediately after snow or ice storms. If you cannot make it due to weather issues, we will give you a credit for another stay.

About Victoria Kikut

Erik, originally from Norway, and Victoria from the U.S., met in the Charlotte, NC area where they currently reside with their two children.

'We have enjoyed traveling to Norway almost every summer to visit family. There they have some of the most beautiful mountains in the world. There is just something about being surrounded by mountains that brings a sense of peace and total tranquility. We decided we wanted to have a place that reminds us of that feeling and of the mountain cabins in Norway. Also, we felt we needed a place to unplug, reconnect and bond with family and friends, while being able to enjoy all of the beauty nature has to offer. We felt that Lake Lure was the perfect location for us to build our log cabin as it is not too far from our home in Charlotte, offers many area attractions, has beautiful mountains, and one of the most beautiful man-made lakes in the world. Lake Lure was also where the movie Dirty Dancing was filmed! We would love to share our home with you in hopes that you will create your own lasting memories with those special people in your life.'

Guestbook comments from the owner

We arrived on top of this mountain right before dusk and wow what a ride up with an extra bonus (fog). For us two days of fog kept us snug as a bug. We celebrated Christmas and we had each and every moment filled with fun, love, and all the amenities this home offered. Our grandchildren slid down the hills with their spooner boards with hours of fun, roasted marshmallows, children loving the jacuzzi, a family hike, a trip to Chimney Rock, and then to Hendersonville for some shopping. What a blessing to have this experience. Something for everyone!

Very Impressive

  • 5 of 5

Hawk's View is a fantastic house...Clean, comfortable, magnificent view, and well appointed. Little things like toiletries, everything you need to make S'mores, popcorn packets...are very nice touches. The weather didn't cooperate, so the kids made good use of the game room. Having lived in Lake Lure for over 8 years we have certain haunts that we always visit on our annual visits, Larkins on the Lake, Medinas, Bubbas, and of course we have good friends still living in the area, so we managed to keep busy in spite of the weather. We were hoping to see a bear, we know they are around, but no luck! I would highly recommend this house.

Excellent location with spectacular view!

  • 5 of 5

All the past reviews say it all. This cabin "home" has everything you need and more to enjoy a well pampered stay in the mountains. Victoria and Erik are very responsive to any needs and provide information on the local scene. The lower level game room is awesome to entertain the kids and give the adults time to kick back and relax on the decks or hot tub and enjoy some music along with the view. Turn off the tunes and sit back and listen to nature all around; you can't be disappointed.

Perfect Family Vacation!!

  • 5 of 5

This home was beyond our wildest dreams. Victoria prepared for us a basket of goodies to make s'mores and a bottle of wine from Biltmore Estates, white fluffy bathrobes and Godiva chocolate on every bed. They provided soap, trash bags, laundry detergent, etc. They pampered us like we were staying at a 5 star resort hotel. The house was gorgeous and comfortable and tons of rooms for all of us. We loved the game room and hot tub, we used them every night. The fire pit was gorgeous but we only used it one night; we were exhausted from our hiking excursions and went to bed early every night. We enjoyed Chimney Rock, Biltmore Estates, Lake Lure Adventures with wake boarding, Asheville, Black Mountain, Brevard & Hendersonville (for shopping), Pisgah sliding rock, Little and Big Bradley Falls. Honestly, do not hesitate renting this house from Victoria and her family. It was EVERYTHING!!!! We were a family of 5: 2 adults, 1 in college and 2 in high school. The kids and I will remember this vacation for the rest of our lives. I wish I could give this house 10 stars!!!!

Nice but not perfect

  • 4 of 5

A couple of minor issues and one big one. My major complaint is the absence of a hand rail leading down from the drive to the front porch. The rustic and beautiful creek stone steps are rugged and irregular and desperately need a hand rail. I have a similar complaint with the steps down to the fire pit, again no handrail and one is needed. If you have any mobility issues at all even if you aren't disabled you may want to go elsewhere. The outside steps are very attractive but very impractical to use. As for minor issues, the kitchen needs attention. The pots and pans and other utensils are cheap and several of the Teflon coated are in bad shape and need to be tossed. More than one small serving bowl would be nice too. We were disappointed with the kitchen it needs a thorough revamping.

Also, there is no place to hang clothes on the main floor except for a few hooks on the wall.

On the positive side the cabin is very nice, private and secluded (no neighbors in sight). The mountain view from the deck/hot tub is absolutely fabulous. We really enjoyed the r & r.

I give 4 stars not 3. Benefit of the doubt to owners I believe to be proactive.

One other note: I recommend going in before dark at least the first time. It takes about 30 minutes to climb the mountain. You should be fine in a front wheel drive if you are a confident driver (4 wheel drive would definitely be better though).

Owner's Response: Thank you for taking your time to write a review. We truly value reading these as we strive to not only meet but exceed our guest's expectations. The stone steps leading to our home were installed by a professional landscaper to look rustic and fit in with the surrounding nature. We are currently interviewing contractors to have a handrail installed next to them so that any guest, with a mobility issue or not, would feel safe accessing our home via the steps. We will also be adding a handrail to the steps leading to the fire pit for this same reason. As we are currently in our high summer season with back to back bookings, we hope to have this completed by early Fall of this year. The pots and pans were replaced with a new set of non-stick cookware as well as replacement of the kitchen utensils that had suffered from wear and tear. We appreciate this being brought to our attention. Also, several serving bowls have been added to the kitchen. On the main floor in the master bedroom, we chose to forgo the closet in order to create a larger bathroom. We will be adding a bar to the armoire in which to hang clothing. Additional hooks were also added to the bedroom. We are so pleased to hear that you were able to enjoy some r & r with the privacy the home offers along with its' amazing views. Feel free to return anytime.

Beautiful cabin with spectacular view!!!

  • 5 of 5

Our family had a wonderful time at this amazing cabin! It had everything we were looking for and still exceeded our expectations. During our stay we hiked, tubed, rode horses and ate at great restaurants. Every evening ended with rounds of pool and ping pong and s'mores by the fire pit. The owners were so helpful with suggestions of activities and were great to work with. I highly recommend this beautiful property!
