This new, custom log home was built with the intention of offering a private, serene location to enjoy with family and friends and in which to create lasting memories. You will immediately feel your tension release as you drink in the views from inside or outside of the home. Each oversized window or two large decks features breathtaking views of the mountains and valleys. Please be on the lookout for the two hawks circling the property after which we derived our name.
This home features many upgrades including granite countertops throughout, tiled-floor baths, custom cabinetry and stonework, a gas burning fireplace, Wifi internet, surround sound stereo, and tastefully designed decor chosen to create an ambiance of comfort and relaxation.
The heart of the home, the kitchen, is complete with an oversized granite-topped island surrounded with stonework, custom carved Hickory wood cabinetry and winerack, tile flooring, stainless steel refrigerator with icemaker and water filter, dishwasher, flat-top stove, oven, Cuisinart coffee maker, toaster and many cooking items, dishes, and utensils needed to make a memorable meal.
Step into the greatroom off of the kitchen to enjoy your view from the two-story panoramic windows. This room features vaulted ceilings, a gas-burning fireplace to warm up to on chilly nights as well as a flat screened tv should you want to feel connected to the outside world. Or, step out of this room onto the large three sided deck. Feel free to use the telescope for sky gazing or the binoculars for spotting birds and wildlife. On this deck you will find a large Jacuzzi with color changing lights, surrounding speakers, robe hooks, and breathtaking views. There is also a gas grill for cookouts and four rockers in which to relax and share stories.
There are three floors in the home with room to spread out on each. No matter which bedroom you choose, each offers a panoramic view of the sunrise peaking over the mountains in the morning. What a great way to start the day!
The main floor master bedroom features a queen custom Alpine wood bed from Colorado. The room contains collectibles from the owner's travels to Norway and offers a Scandinavian feel. The upper master features a queen wrought iron and wood bed offering a truly lodge-like feel. This room is very spacious and could easily hold a crib as well. The upper bunk room is built with fun in mind! There is a bunk bed and single bed. Again, each of these three single beds will have a gorgeous view of the mountains out of the oversized window. The basement level bedroom contains a queen bed, private tile-floored bathroom, large closet, and large window. Outside of this bedroom is the gameroom. This is where a fun time is to be had by kids of all ages! Featuring a competition-sized ping pong table, a Connelly professional 8x4 pool table, dart board, flat screen tv, Wii, and board games. This room contains a comfortable sofa that converts into a double bed. Just outside of this spacious, tile-floored game room is another three-sided deck on which to relax and enjoy the views from its wooden rockers. There you will also find the wood pile to use in the log fire pit just down from this deck. Complete with wooden Aderondack chairs and skewers, we hope you will enjoy roasting marshmallows and hot dogs or just breathing in the crisp mountain air while listening to the crackling fire, rustling leaves, or chirping crickets.
This mountain top property is situated on 2.5 wooded acres and surrounded by the Blue Ridge Mountains. Its' circular driveway provides easy access to and from the home. Depending on the rain fall in the area, you might hear the small bubbling creek on the property. The landscape contains many native flowering shrubs, and trees, oversized rocks, as well as birds and wildlife.
Unfortunately, we cannot control the weather this time of year. The gravel roads on the mountain are private, and are not always cleared immediately after snow or ice storms. If you cannot make it due to weather issues, we will give you a credit for another stay.

About Victoria Kikut
Erik, originally from Norway, and Victoria from the U.S., met in the Charlotte, NC area where they currently reside with their two children. 'We have enjoyed traveling to Norway almost every summer to visit family. There they have some of the most beautiful mountains in the world. There is just something about being surrounded by mountains that brings a sense of peace and total tranquility. We decided we wanted to have a place that reminds us of that feeling and of the mountain cabins in Norway. Also, we felt we needed a place to unplug, reconnect and bond with family and friends, while being able to enjoy all of the beauty nature has to offer. We felt that Lake Lure was the perfect location for us to build our log cabin as it is not too far from our home in Charlotte, offers many area attractions, has beautiful mountains, and one of the most beautiful man-made lakes in the world. Lake Lure was also where the movie Dirty Dancing was filmed! We would love to share our home with you in hopes that you will create your own lasting memories with those special people in your life.'

Beautiful Home,Beautiful view,if you want to get away from it all this is the place,of all the homes we have rented in the Lake Lure area this is the cleanest and best organized home that we have seen, also the owners were the most prompt and easy to deal with. Definitely Recommend.
Beautiul home, majestic views and great owners to work with
The cabin was just as advertised with beautiful accommodations and awesome views. The owners were fantastic to work with and very prompt with answering our questions. The cabin had everything one would want....beautiful interior, majestic views, was clean throughout, hot tub, pool table, dart board and ping pong--- oh a super fire pit. The fact that we had perfect weather contributed to the great experience. There was a gas grill to cook on, and it looked brand new...a testament to cleaning and preparing the cabin for us. it is a ways into Lake Lure to stock up with provisions so make your trips into Lake Lure count... Going in April was great in that the weather was perfect and the "crowds" that you see in the summer, were non-existent...
One thing that I feel impelled to bring up is the road up to the cabin and from the auto to the home was more than challenging. The owners made us aware of the road and provided us with excellent maps for going there in 4wd vehicles and non-4wd vehicles. Once there, we used the 4wd vehicle exclusively. There were four of us, all 70+ years of age with one (me) having only 60% strength on my right side due to back surgeries. I had to have assistance from two of my friends getting in and out of the car and getting to and from the cabin, as the steps are a combination of rock, gravel and sand and a steep walk from the car and driveway to the home. I could not have made it on my own. It was certainly not the wonderful hosts obligation to point this out to us. ...That's just the way it is. I should have asked but this certainly didn't detract from our vacation...I don't believe you will find better views or owners to work with. All in all, a great week. !!!!
This was one of the best mountain cabins I have stayed at! The views were exquisite and the house was beautifully maintained and clean. The game room was perfect and the house was very spacious for our party of 8. We even enjoyed a visit from a black bear! This drive up the mountain is quite steep, even in the “non 4WD” directions, so be prepared. We would absolutely book this cabin again!
Excellent accommodations for family of 5
The cabin was beautiful, pictures don't even do it justice. The house was very clean and well stocked. We appreciated the video games, board games, ping pong, speaker system inside and out on the deck. The hot tub was clean and when the propane tank for the grill ran out, we were able to find another full tank. The owners have thought of everything and were responsive and helpful.
Amazing cabin with amazing views.
The cabin was amazing and the views were even better. There are so many places that you can gather around and spend time with your family and friends. The hot tub on the top deck was a great touch with a view down the entire mountain. There are two outdoor decks with chairs and tables to have a cup of coffee and watch the sunrise or a cocktail in the evening. My kids loved the basement which has a pool table, ping pong table, and a dart board to entertain. The cabin is really well furnished and supplied with lots of kitchen equipment if you want to cook your own emails. The communication from the owners was great and the instruction manuals made everything simple to be able to utilize everything the cabin had to offer like the speaker system that could be played through the inside and outside. We really appreciated the nice touches like a basket for s’mores and a bottle of wine from the Biltmore waiting for us. My last comment was that they even give two paths up the hill to the cabin for 4 wheel drive option or another one for 2 wheel drive. I didn’t have any issues getting up, but I did help out another family that got stuck in a 2 wheel drive car close to the cabin. The owner of that cabin didn’t mention anything about another route that might be easier up the mountain. It just another example of how they do their best to make sure you have a great experience. Thank you for helping us make our spring break one we will always remember.
Wow! View, Hot Tub, Pool Table, Beautiful Cabin
Wow. My wife and 2yo daughter stayed here for a long weekend to celebrate our wedding anniversary in late February. We were looking for a relaxing, isolated location to spend some family time together. This place is amazing in every aspect and was a perfect place to stay.
The drive up to the cabin was steep and twisting on gravel without guardrails. Our drive was on a dry day without any snow or ice and we arrived without any difficulty in a 2WD vehicle following the excellent instructions and map provided.
There was a flashlight attached to the combination lock on the driveway gate and the lock box at the house. While we arrived before dark, this first impression of hospitality will not be soon forgotten. The lights from the neighboring houses can barely be seen through the leafless trees in the wintertime.
Once inside, we found the cabin meticulously decorated and cared for. The decor from the giant antler chandelier, stonework, and pine paneling in the great room to the rustic wooden rocking chairs and railings on the wide upper deck really set the mood for the mountain retreat. Every item of convenience has been provided to make the experience as comfortable as possible from the extensive array of kitchen utensils to the firewood for the firepit to the phone adapters for the multi-room speakers. Linens, towels and even bathrobes are provided which makes packing for the trip so much easier.
The magnificent view of the valley below and the mountains can easily be seen from almost every room in the house. It draws your attention continuously through the large picture windows in the great room and feels larger than life when standing on the edge of the upper deck. The sun rises directly in front of the cabin highlighting the early morning mist between the hills and mountains below making it seem like you are flying high above the clouds below.
We chose to remain at the cabin for our entire stay. The list of amenities is quite extensive and there was plenty to keep us occupied for days. We spent many hours playing pool in the game room and enjoying the upper deck and hot tub. On our last night the clouds cleared and we were amazed at the view of the moon through the telescope.
Each memory from this vacation will be boldly accentuated by the hospitality, beautiful accommodations, and extensive amenities provided by Erik and Victoria at Hawk’s View Cabin. The owners are very gracious hosts and quickly responsive to all communications.
