About Susan Ashcroft

I love Marfa and can't believe how lucky I am to own a home there. It is incredibly special! My main residence is in Houston, but I spend as much time out there as possible. Managing this property is my full-time job, along with my 5 kids and 4 dogs.

Susan Ashcroft purchased this house in 2013

Why Susan Ashcroft chose Marfa

I fell in love with Marfa 20 years ago. I am from Arizona originally and I guess there is a part of me that just loves that high desert climate. The climate in Marfa is amazing, the summer temps even in the hottest part of the year still drop into the 60s at night. The light in Marfa is beautiful. The sunsets, sunrises, the clouds - it is easy to see why artists have been drawn here. It's remoteness is a huge part of the appeal for me and my husband.

What makes this house unique

This home is just such a classic. It has beautiful bones, with high ceilings and wonderful windows. The porch is so welcoming. The wood floors are original - worn but with character and beauty. It is cozy yet open and spacious for it's size. My new outdoor living space is complete and it is will blow you away.

Perfect Marfa getaway

  • 5 of 5

This was the best house we've ever rented in Marfa! The location is perfect (two minute walk to everything), the house was lovely--well furnished, well supplied, comfortable, pretty, but the outside living area was what took this to the next level of fabulous! We were out there almost any time we were home: between the fans during the day and the fireplace at night, it was absolutely sublime. Highly recommend this house and look forward to staying there again soon!

Charming home, perfect location for a relaxing time in Marfa.

  • 5 of 5

The house was just right for our family of three. The house was perfectly appointed and a nice place to stay cool and relax either in the living room or in the beautiful backyard patio and sitting area. For the few issues or questions that we had, the local management team was quite responsive and only minutes away. We would definitely stay again! .

Gem in the Heart of Marfa!

  • 4 of 5

This beautiful home has great ambience and a wonderful patio with a huge back yard! We walked a few hundred feet to have Prickly Pear Margaritas at the El Paisano Hotel a couple of times or for dinner at the Hotel St. George...The home is well-stocked overall. It does need more lighting inside but it wasnt a big problem since we were out alot. The location is a 10 out of 10!

Location, location, location!

  • 5 of 5

This house was the most well appointed rental we have ever had. All the little things you need that you run out to the store for were there- from olive oil, to coffee, to shampoo. We were able to bike everywhere from here, walk to the Hotel Paisano for cocktails, and local restaurants. We loved Marfa. If you want an off the grid vacation with art activities, this is the place. The star gazing party at McDonald observatory was awesome.

Charming and comfortable!! Wonderful outdoor soace

  • 5 of 5

Thoroughly enjoyed our time! House lived up to all expectations. Well decorated and furnished. Communication with owner and property managers was always professional, welcoming, and timely. Despite no central AC, house was cool with ceiling fans/window units and always comfortable. We spent time enjoying the fabulous outdoor space and porch. The next-door neighbors were extremely friendly. Location was ideal. Walked around the corner to Farma for coffee, and one block to the Hotel Paisano. Will definitely remember this home in the future. So thankful for the opportunity to stay there.
