*Beach information

The beach fronting the Royal Kahana experiences seasonal ocean current changes that influence the beach’s physical appearance and size. During the fall and winter, it is not uncommon that these currents sweep away a very large amount of sand, which will gradually return back in spring and summer, based on the ocean's current activity. Our homeowners Assoc., The County of Maui, and the State of Hawaii are working diligently to return Kahana Bay to its full potential.

This circumstance, unfortunately, affects the accessibility of our valued guests to the beach. While there may not be, at times, direct access from the property to the beach during the fall and winter season, there is a public beach access within 5 minutes walking distance.

Our guests' safety is of the utmost concern for us. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.

You can stay updated on our ocean front access by viewing our web page, rkmaui(dot)com, and checking the postings on the homepage. We update the postings as soon as we receive new information from the resort.

About Shelly and Dan Williamson, Property Managers

Our family owns a number of vacation homes at the Royal Kahana. Our first was bought on a family holiday in 1976. Our children and grandchildren have grown up at the Royal Kahana and we have wonderful memories over the years. We can’t think of a better place to holiday and create memories.

What makes this condo unique

There are two airports that serve Maui. Most travelers fly into Kahului (OGG), which is approx. 30 miles away. The Kapalua Airport (JHM) is much closer, only 5 minutes away from the Royal Kahana.

Spectacular time in Maui

Condo was exactly as advertised, right down to the great sunsets. We could not believe that our twelve days went by so quickly. There was never a day when we were not busy somewhere, definitely worth going back.

Felt like home away from home

Morning breakfast out on the lanai (9) floors up watching whales, beautiful ocean views, going to sleep in the king size bed listening to the waves, and getting into a nice shower with great water pressure, what could be better? we had a wonderful time and plan on coming back next year.

Property was great. Very spacious condo. Everything you need.

Just sitting on the lanai watching the waves crash while eating breakfast was truly relaxing. It was unfortunate that there was beach restoration going on so we couldn't use our beach, but there was another resort that we could walk down to use their beach...if only the weather cooperated better.

Condo was in excellent condition however property is marginal.

We rented condo 906 and found it to be in excellent shape. Great service from the cleaning crew and bedding supplier. Pots and pans were adequate, electric appliances all worked and were up to date. TVs are all flat screen with adequate satellite service. WiFi was excellent and quite high speed, especially for a rental property. Cleanliness was excellent.

However, the property is only marginal in condition. The beach front is undergoing repairs and the lawn area remained saturated with water from the sprinklers making it unusable. The pool area was clean, but the ocean view was completely blocked off by construction barriers. BBQs were clean and effective. Exercise room was pathetic. At the end of our two week stay only two machines/bikes worked so access was a problem. Even if all the machines were in good repair the number are not sufficient for the size of the property. The tennis court is completely unusable and the parking spaces are very narrow resulting in difficult entrance and exit from your vehicle.

All in all, we were delighted with the condo and its condition and disliked the property greatly.

Owner's Response: Robert, Mahalo for choosing our home and for your feedback. We are always working to improve our service. We know that the beach work is not what any of us want to see when we get to the resort. We try very hard to make sure that our guests were aware of the beach erosion through a multitude of channels; our VRBO posting, our Facebook pages, and our website rkmaui (dot) com. In addition, our welcome packet mentioned that beach erosion that occurred in Kahana Bay. The great news is that this week we received word that Mother Nature did bring in some SW winds and we have a beach and beach access! We are hopeful that she will let us keep it awhile. Much of the work that is going on currently is temporary and may be done by the time I write this note. There is a long-term plan in place, working with the State of Hawaii and the County of Maui to restore the beach to its former state. I have been visiting Maui and the Royal Kahana for over 40 years and I know what a wonderful place it is. We have not promoted or even included the tennis court as an amenity for well over a year. The reason for this is that the structure needs maintenance before we can comfortably allow our guests to use it. This was a decision made for the safety of our guests and we support it. I will check into the exercise room. I know that at the Homeowners Meeting in January a motion was passed to purchase new equipment. Anytime items are shipped to Maui, it takes time. A new shuffleboard court was installed in February. Also in February, we had an additional two BBQ grills installed, bringing the total to five. These are well maintained, gas grills. Our pool deck is scheduled for an upgrade this spring. There is a ton of stuff happening at the Royal Kahana, all improvements. We are constantly working to give our guests the best experience. I am so glad you enjoyed our home. We will share your note with the Homeowners Association, as it is important that they are aware. We will be happy to offer you a discount on your next stay in one of our homes. Mahalo, Shelly

906 royal kahana wonderful condo

We had a great stay at 906 royal kahana. The condo was very nice and we had everything we needed.

The view from the balcony was awesome! We seen so many whales every day! I would definitely recommend this condo when visiting Maui.
