About Sandra T Martin
My husband and I are from Knoxville and we grew up loving this area and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. We both are graduates from the University of Tennessee. We spent our childhoods vacationing in Gatlinburg and the GSMNPark, and we took our children there for vacations in Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg and camping in Cades Cove and Elkmont. Our decision to purchase a cabin home in the Smoky's was an easy one! We liked the Smoky Mountain Village location because the views are unbeatable and the location is close to everything. Our family still uses the cabin for special occasions. I am an avid hiker and have hiked all the trails in the GSMNPark which totals over 840 miles. My husband is an avid runner and he frequents the Gatlinburg Trail outside of Gatlinburg which runs beside a beautiful creek. Our children use the cabin because there is so much to do and so many close attractions. We have many fond family memories from Bear Cub, it is a great home get-away.
Sandra T Martin purchased this Cabin in 1998
Why Sandra T Martin chose Chalet Village
Since we are from Knoxville and grew up visiting the Smokies and Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, we knew we wanted a second home in the Smokies. Our property borders the National Park and it is almost on the top of a mountain...the road dead-ends a half mile from our entrance! The views are what sold us though. From our back deck we have a 180 degree vista with Mt LeConte, elevation 6593, right in the middle! We can watch skiers traverse the slopes of OberGatlinburg and the Sky Tram climb up the mountain. Bears frequent the area as well as wild turkey and deer. On the other side of Smoky Mountain Village, we can see the lights from Pigeon Forge. On clear days you can see for miles!
What makes this Cabin unique
This cabin has it all......great views out of the large picture windows on the back of the cabin and close proximity to restaurants, shops, attractions, hiking, theme parks, shows, horseback riding, skiing, golf, Cades Cove, Clingman's Dome, Space Needle, putt-putt golf, etc. Yet the cozy fireplace and comfortable interiors invite you to stay and never leave! Pets are not allowed in BearCub. No smoking please.

Oh That Sunrise!
Amazing view of the mountains- watching sunrise from the deck with a cup of tea was my favorite but stargazing from the hot tub was special too. Bear Cub was extremely clean and well-appointed. Decor was so tasteful and fitting of the cabin name! We didn’t cook but Sandra had anything you would need. The cabin was exactly as promised and extremely clean. Washing machine/dryer great for a vacation load of laundry. Magnified lighted makeup mirror in one bathroom a plus for me. Beds and bedding were comfy. A lovely stay, we hope to return.
Mountain views and bear sightings
This cabin was very nice and had everything we needed for our family vacation. We saw bears near the cabin just about every day of our stay. The deck was a nice for morning coffee or an evening meal. We enjoyed being able to use the nearby swimming pool.
BearCub was clean with an amazing view
Our family loved everything about BearCub Chalet. It was equipped with all if our needs. Very clean and updated. The mountain view is breathtaking and we even saw black bears pass through from the deck. Beautiful little hideaway!
Stunning views, adorable cabin!
We loved every minute of our short trip to Gatlinburg. We entertained our family here twice while staying and everyone had a blast. These are the MOST amazing views, wonderfully relaxing! Super clean and exactly what we were looking for. Thank you for your hospitality. Only note*sharpen knives in kitchen but other than that, it was perfect!
Great, well-equipped cabin
We found the cabin very comfortable and clean. There were a lot of little things provided that made the stay nice -- things you might not think about like salt and pepper. There were even a crew k-cups provided, which was nice to have until we got groceries. The cabin was very homey. The view was spectacular. We enjoyed our stay.
Not the best cabin
Owner did not communicate with me prior to arrival so we weren't sure where/how to check in. Ended up having to rent a hotel room in town our first night. The next day, after being out and about, came back to cabin to find ourselves locked out due to a lock malfunction. We were able to get in touch with the housekeeper who came, with her husband, and popped out one of the back windows to let us in. They said this same thing had happened two guests ago but owner obviously did nothing about it. Some of the cabin furniture needs replacing. The housekeeper and her husband are the reasons I gave this 2 stars.
Dollywood Theme Park is 20 minutes from the cabin (11.4 miles).
Dollywood Splash Country Waterpark is 20 minutes from the cabin.
Downtown Gatlinburg is 7 minutes away and is full of shops, restaurants, theaters, amusements, crafts, candy kitchens, Space Needle, Sky Tram, any so much more.
The entrance to The Great Smoky Mountains National Park is 10 minutes away. There is hiking, white water rafting, wildlife viewing, and horseback riding, Cades Cove and Clingman's Dome are very close by. Pets are not allowed in BearCub. No smoking please.
