Dream rental!

  • 5 of 5

Our family rented Captain's Retreat and fell in love with it! The views are amazing! The location for boating is perfect...no need to putt down Taylor's Creek, just swing around the bend, and you're at Shack in minutes, and only 20 minutes from The Cape. Plus, you're only minutes from Front Street.

The house is well-stocked and super comfortable! The swing under the live oak trees is the perfect place for your morning coffee. We have a 24 foot center console Sea Ox, and we got her into the dock, even on low tide, no problem! Deanna is super accommodating and such a pleasure to meet.

We are renting Captain's Retreat again this year for Easter and for another week in July. It's definitely a true hidden gem, just like Beaufort herself!

The best weekend ever!

  • 5 of 5

The Captain's Retreat was perfect. Our family of volunteers stayed here to support the World's Largest "Take the Troops fishing event" Military Appreciation Day event held in Morehead City this past weekend. We had 97 boats and fished 390 Troops, hosted several hundred family members on land too.

Located out of the way of the hustle and bustle, the house had everything you would want, and since Deanna knew we would have a little one with us, she included a pack and play at the house! Thanks for leaving us some fruit and snacks, they were enjoyed, and the water views.....as George Takei would say.....Oh My.....

I docked my 24' center console boat there no problem mid to high tide, but tried to come back in when it was low tide...and yeah when she says shallow draft boat, you best be less than 12" I had an issue and Deanna came to MY rescue! She seen me struggling and came on her boat to transport one of my crew to the dock when we just went ahead and had him bring the truck around to the Boathouse ramps and loaded mine on the trailer. So I guess I'm a "High -Tider" only now lol.

You will not regret staying here! We will be back!

Away From It All

  • 4 of 5

This is a quaint no frills little home with the real feel of Beaufort and its fishing history. The home is small with the bones and feeling of a small family and its time in Beaufort coursing through every inch. The views from the back yard and dock are awe inspiring, and the hospitality of the owner could not be better. The home is only a 5 min. drive from the main historic portion of Beaufort. The main bed is only a full sized bed, so go in understanding this. But, what the home lacks in modern amenities is more than made up for by its beautiful location and relaxing feel. If what you are looking for is a place to step away from the rush and recharge, then this is it.

Peaceful and scenic - highly recommend

  • 5 of 5

The property was everything advertised. Clean and cozy and with a beautiful view. We had to cut our trip short due to a death in the family and Deanna was very accommodating and understanding. I would definitely book again.

Peaceful and Comfortable

  • 5 of 5

I came out from California to North Carolina to visit my sister. We stayed at the Captain's Retreat for 5 days and 4 nights for a "sisters only getaway" in Beaufort. Deanna and her family were absolutely wonderful and gracious hosts. The cottage was very comfortable and homey, and had everything we needed for our stay. We had a wonderful time. I loved watching the sun come up each morning and watching the ducks on the dock. Very peaceful place.

Wonderful Vacation

  • 5 of 5

This home was perfect. So clean and well decorated. Everything was there that we needed. Deanna and her family are such hospitable people. The view was wonderful. Even saw a double rainbow over the water following a thunder storm. I thoroughly enjoyed staying outside in the swing. The only problem we had was that we ran out of time. Would love to come back again and stay longer. If you like pizza try No Name Pizza for great pizza and subs. This was some of the best pizza we have eaten and it is just up the street from this lovely home.
