About Dale

Our property was passed down by my parents who always dreamed of having an ocean front home where our family could gather and special memories would be created.

Several years ago, we decided to build a new, open plan home (completed in 2013) on the property and this is the result. It's been fun decorating our home with a few pieces of furniture that have been passed down from one generation to the next.

Enjoy our home and the tranquility of Kapoho!

Dale purchased this house in 1983

Why Dale chose Kapoho

Great location for family

  • 5 of 5

Our family of four had a wonderful vacation at Honu Ocean Paradise. The access to the ocean front was great and resulted in us snorkeling with the turtles almost every day during our vacation. The house also worked well and was stocked with everything that we needed. We have already recommended this location to friends and would definitely return again.

Turtles and fish off your garden steps in a beautiful tropical retreat

  • 5 of 5

Dale has a wonderful clean, well maintained and comfortable home that provided everything that my wife and I needed for a few days relaxing holiday. We arrived as storms hit right across the Hawaiian chain bringing thunderous rain and high winds but in this cove, protected by a series of reefs, we were able to easily snorkel every day in calm waters right off the steps at the bottom of the garden. The water was wonderfully warm and seemed to be equally enjoyed by the turtles and the surprisingly abundant variety of fishes including a massive zebra moray. There is an abundance of tide pools in a marine sanctuary very nearby that can be accessed by the general public but to be honest there is no need to go there as you have it right in front of the house in a semi-private setting. There are 3 or 4 houses sharing the cove but we rarely saw anyone. The weather during our time was changeable with rain as expected and some beautiful sunny days, of course every day was warm. The frogs start up singing right at sunset and continue on through the the night but we both had no trouble sleeping. Dale was was very helpful before the trip and available for assistance whilst we were there. It's definitely wetter than the other side of the Island but if you love warm water, tropical nights, lush green vegetation and a laid back holiday with your own semi-private swimming cove this is the place for you. This will definitely be on our short list for future holidays.

Great location. Home clean and comfortable. Highly recommended.

This vacation home is awesome for larger families due to its 3 bedroom and oceanfront access to great snorkeling. The community is private and safe and super quiet; if that's what your looking for. We loved our stay.

Perfect family get away

  • 5 of 5

The whole family snorkelled twice a day, sometimes for a couple of hours. Daily search for "Teddy" the turtle was challenging, fun, and always rewarding when we found him. House was more than we expected, excellent condition and location. Would love to return to this paradise in the future

Hawaiian Paradise!

  • 5 of 5

This property is 5 star by every measure! Oceanfront private setting for amazing snorkeling(so many fish and turtles), swimming, birdwatching...fell asleep to the sounds of the ocean waves, woke to bird song and sunshine. Quiet, secluded, rarely saw other people in the water.

The house is lovely, pictures do not do it justice. All systems/appliances were new, completely operational, and the home was spotless and well organized. Lots of considerate little extras, such as soaps and cleaning products, insect repellant, snorkel gear, a citronella candle, were much appreciated. The gazebo is clean, comfortable, has lights and electric. We were out there constantly.

Close to Volcano National Park, we hiked at the caldera and also took a lava flow bike/hike at 4:30am. We explored Hilo, Big Island Candies factory store, Thai, Sushi and barbecue restaurants, several farmers markets with extensive local food, produce, crafts.

This home is located on one of the most unspoiled stretches of residential oceanfront. Truly, this is a gem of a rental property. Manager was easy to work with, check out was a breeze.
