About mark young

Seasoned travelers and long time Napa valley residents and restaurateurs. We know the valley and its many, off- the-beaten-path wineries and other secret spots that most tourists never have an opportunity to experience. We're both native Californian's and can help to make your Napa Valley and Northern California experience a great one.

mark young purchased this estate in 1992

Why mark young chose Napa County

We purchased this property in 1992 after eyeing it for several years. When it came on the property we knew it was out of our price range but we also knew that somehow, we must figure out how to buy it. After languishing on the market for months, the sellers lowered their price and though still a hefty price, we purchased it. In retrospect, it was a steal but at the time, it was a scary and bold move. After living there for ten years, we discovered that it was built by friends of my grandparents for their Arabian Horses in the late 1950's. There is just something about this property that is so special, from the morning sunrise to the last rays of sunset, it is one of the most beautiful places on earth.

What makes this estate unique

Staying at Sycamore House, you'll discover for yourself what makes this place in the Napa Valley such a special one.

Heavenly!

We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful property. Our hosts were gracious and entertaining. Our rooms were beautifully decorated, very clean and quiet. This is one of the very best properties available in the Napa Valley. We hope to return.

Perfect Private Getaway

  • 5 of 5

First of all Calistoga gets you away from the crowds and touristy atmosphere of Napa and the Sycamore house puts you right in the middle of all wineries in St Helena and Calistoga. It seemed like every place we wanted to go was a short scenic drive. The studio itself was perfect. Its comfortable and clean. You wake up to a beautiful view of the vinyard. The dogs will escort you on a tour of the property. It was a relaxing getaway that we can't wait to return to next year.

Excellent stay on the vineyard in Napa

  • 5 of 5

Absolutely enjoyable stay in the heart of Napa Valley on this beautiful estate. The accommodations have completely met our expectations:

Location: on Silverado Trail (but far from the road itself so it is quiet), close to many iconic Silverado Trail wineries. One of the wineries (really good) is right next door.

Accommodation: decorated with great taste, clean, excellent view from the balcony.

Walking through the vineyard was quite enjoyable.

Hosts are very hospitable.

Highly recommended!

Perfect Napa get-away

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful property with outstanding views of a vineyard and mountains as a backdrop. We enjoyed walking around the private estate and being up-close to a lovely vineyard. Beautiful and friendly dogs who welcomed us and then acted as "tour guides" when we went for our walks.

The accommodations were very well appointed and light-filled. Super-comfortable bed and pillows. Nice-sized room with a very relaxing sitting area overlooking the beautiful views. Large balcony with chairs and a table to enjoy our wine in the afternoons. Nice, clean bathroom with fluffy towels and good amenities.

Good location between Calistoga & St. Helena. Off the beaten path, but still convenient.

Photos of the suite are accurate. Immaculate and well maintained.

Mark and Ron were very welcoming and checked in throughout our stay to make sure we had everything we needed. Prior to our arrival they communicated with us and offered recommendations.

The recommended restaurants were all fantastic: Brasswood, Farmstead, Auberge (for drinks & a view), and Bouchon Bakery.

We also ate at their restaurant, Brannan's. Every part of our experience at Brannan's was perfect: drinks (Calistoga Cooler), apps (calamari), salad (field greens with a sliced avocado when we made a special request), entree' (filet and halibut) and a dessert (chocolate cake with hazelnuts & ice cream), which we didn't need but had to try anyway!

The perfect way to experience beautiful Napa Valley!!

Slice of paradise

  • 5 of 5

Ron and Mark's loft space is so lovely. The bed was comfy, the space was very clean, and the amenities like coffee and wine were wonderful. We loved having our coffee out on the deck and we enjoyed our stroll through the vineyard. The dogs welcomed us when we arrived and were happy to walk with us out into the vines. We also took advantage of the pool. The whole space was perfect and we can't wait to get back up there for another weekend away. I would recommend this place to anyone. It's close to wineries and restaurants.
