Why Dolly or Bill chose Northeast

The original cabin was built in 1925 by our grandfather. We rebuilt it in 2005 to update and winterize it so we could enjoy it during the winter.

A great place to get away

  • 5 of 5

The place is perfect and is in an awesome location. The place is as described, if not better. We were a group of 17 and had plenty of room. The home has a large deck as well as a nice screened porch overlooking the water. There is even two canoes and two kayaks for use, we all enjoyed taking them out on the lake. It was a pleasure working with Bill, any questions we had were immediately answered. If you are looking for a great place to get away, then this is the place.

Fall Vacation Get-away

  • 5 of 5

The Cabin was so beautiful and the location was excellent. We had so much fun with our 2 boys and their girlfriends. We brought our dog who lead the way for all our hikes and even the trip to the island in the canoe. Our first day sitting on the dock, trumpeter swans, eagles and loons gave us a show we won't forget. The location is private and cozy. We love to cook and the kitchen was well equipped to do that. Thanks so much for letting us enjoy your family cabin

Perfect Winter Getaway for 3 Families

  • 5 of 5

We spent 3 nights at Wahoo Lodge with 6 adults/6 children over New Years and loved it! The owners were very nice and easy to work with, the cabin clean and very well equipped, and the setting perfect for a winter getaway. We loved the big open area on the first floor that includes the kitchen, and it was nice to have the downstairs for kids to play while the adults were on the main level. The cold temperatures kept us inside most of the time, but some of us did enjoy a walk on the roads and out on the frozen lake. We highly recommend this property and hope to get back again next year!

Amazing Get Away

  • 5 of 5

My family and I stayed here in July and it was the perfect get away. The accommodations were just as described. There was more than ample sleeping quarters with comfortable beds. The view of the lake is stunning. I loved the fact that we were truly isolated - not only in being tucked away in a private bay, but, since there was no wifi, we were able to put away all of our electronics and just enjoy each other as a family. We spent a lot of time relaxing on the pier, canoeing and kayaking around the lake. We saw the bald eagles every day! There are some nice hikes right down the road, and we rented bikes in town and had some nice rides along the roads. Eagle River is a cute town, only 20 minutes away, it has great fudge and a movie theater! We spent our nights playing cards, board games and reading. We all left feeling like we really had a vacation from our hectic lives….just what we were looking for. We are thinking of going up this winter for a long weekend, but, we will definitely be back next summer! P.S. My son wanted to add something. He says, "It's really, really, really, so much fun! I can't wait to go back up there!" :)

Wonderful "True" North Woods Cottage for Families

  • 5 of 5

We rented in July of this year and are looking forward to going back! The cabin is charming; great vaulted ceiling, stone fire place, beautiful view of the bay, great porch and useable kitchen. And, It had all the modern conveniences of city life, dishwasher, dryer, microwave and satellite TV, yet all the rustic charm of a "North Woods" Cabin. The cabin's location was ideal for hiking and biking through the Nicolet forest and they provided us with kayak's, a canoe and sailboat to enjoy the lake. The lake is huge and according to the "locals", a great fishing lake. You can fish right off the pier and we caught some nice size bass. We loved sitting around the campfire each night have roasting marshmallows and having smores.

We had twelve people with us on this trip, six adults and six kids, the adults all had their own bedrooms while the kids enjoyed sleeping in the "Bunk Room" in the lower level. This place could have easily fit eighteen they advertised.

They had a caretaker meet us as promised when we arrived and walked us through the essentials of the cabin, how to turn of the furnace/AC, how to turn on the fireplace, how the microwave worked, ect.. and left of us with a handy list of things to do area, where to get "supplies" in town-Eagle River is about 25 minutes from the cabin, and his cell phone number "just in case."

Overall, it was a great weekend for all of us! The kids and adults took advantage of hiking, biking, kayaking, canoeing, swimming, fishing, campfires and just sitting out on the pier. It really lived up to it's promise of a great family cottage rental.

As I mentioned, I am looking forward to going back next year and we are planning on asking another family to join us, so we will see how well 16 people will work out together, however there certainly is enough bed space to fit that many.

My one complaint had to do with the fact that cellphone service is very limited in this area, however I enjoyed the fact that "we" were disconnect from our daily lives and were able to "turn-off" our texts, and regular cell service. It drove some of the kid crazy for the first day or so, but they didn't seem to miss it by Saturday because they were having so much fun.

I hope the next renters have as much fun as we did. It's was a great family experience and don't forget to read the history of the "Cabin" while your there. It's an incredible history of "life in the north woods."
