Camp Mac is a beautiful Adirondack camp, situated on 52 acres of wilderness with private walking trails, as well as lakefront views of McCauley Pond. The privacy and solitude is one of the most unique characteristics of Camp Mac.
Camp Mac has 5 bedrooms and 3 full bathrooms, and comfortably sleeps 10 people. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you might need. The great room has a beautiful stone fireplace and comfortable seating area.
Step outside Camp Mac and explore the Adirondack wilderness. McCauley Pond is a warm water fishery, with guests catching pike, bass, and perch. Camp Mac comes with a canoe and a row boat, as well as life jackets for adults and children.
In addition to the pond, Camp Mac has 52 acres to explore, with walking and cross country ski trails for your own use.
This region of the Adirondacks has so much to explore. There are many wilderness options, including hiking, the St. Regis canoe area, and boating on Upper Saranac Lake. If you prefer visiting Adirondack towns, Lake Placid and Saranac Lake are both nearby. In the winter, the cross country skiing options are endless, and Whiteface Ski Resort is 40 minutes away.
We live in Upstate New York with our 3 young children and loyal golden retriever, and the day we discovered Camp Mac, we fell in love with it. The privacy and solitude of Camp Mac was like nothing else we had ever experienced on a property in the Adirondacks. We hope that you enjoy exploring the trails on the property, swimming and fishing in the pond, and discovering all this area has to offer.
I have rented homes for vacations before and there is always that question, "is the house as good as it looks in the pictures?" Camp Mac is actually better than the pictures. It is a house I could live in all year long. It is clean, cozy and everything is there for your use. Very well equipped with everyday essentials.
The whole back porch is all new… It's amazing. (very high end) The bottom half of the deck is screened in with nice furniture to relax on. The yard is great. We fished, swam, canoed, hiked and had fires in the fired pit. It was a great escape from our everyday, busy lives. There were no iPads or computers needed for the kids. They loved being outside getting dirty. Our son caught a ton of fish.( He's 8.) The stars at night, from the dock were the most beautiful sight. Unbelievable!!! My favorite part.
We took a day trip to Lake Placid/Whiteface Mtn and another half day into the town of Saranac Lake. There is a grocery store in Saranac for food etc.
We also brought our dog. (black lab) who enjoyed the house/yard/woods as well.
I highly recommend Camp Mac for anyone looking to get away and reconnecting with nature and taking a break from their busy life.
We rented this place kind of last minute for the July 4th weekend. We wanted something with acreage and off the beaten path for our 2 dogs. This worked out perfectly. It's a large home with a really great layout. The entire lower level (finished basement) is like it's own little apartment with 3 bedrooms, bathroom and a living room. It is the ONLY area with a TV. The teens loved having their own space down there. The home is well kept, clean, and all the linens smelled yummy. Everything you need is there, even peroxide and a band aid, for an unexpected cut. The kitchen was fully stocked and there was plenty of extras like spices, cooking oil, etc. Like many homes we've rented, there's a borrow something, leave something policy so even the fridge had many items like ketchup, mustard and mayo. We bought even more because I didn't look first so there should be plenty of ketchup, mustard and mayo if nothing else. haha But, kidding aside, this was definitely one of the better stocked and supplied homes we've rented. And, it was really appreciated because who wants to buy or lug EVERYthing for a few days away? Our dogs LOVED the property and had a blast being 'free' to roam and swim and chase chipmunks. My only minor recommendations would be providing a blender (for frozen drinks), and some additional good quality (thicker, larger) bath towels. The only good towels were located in the upstairs master bath; otherwise, all other bathrooms had very thin, small ones. Everything else was awesome, and the check in was super easy. We liked that we could just show up and start our vacation, we didn't have to meet with anyone or go anywhere to get keys. OH..and the whole house music system, including speakers out on the deck, was excellent! We just plugged our phones in and played Pandora all weekend. It was relaxing and enjoyable. Thanks Anne & Ethan!
The Cabin is fully equipped and very big.
Very quite (only 2 cabins around the lake)
Amazing view from the cabin.
In short, perfect !!!
Thanks a lot
I would recommend this place over and over. The photos do not do it justice! There is no one else in sight and the views of the practically private and very large pond are unbelievable. Sitting around the fire in comfy adirondack chairs every night, cooking gourmet meals in a fully stocked kitchen, paddling around the mirror-like pond in the canoe in the mornings and playing board games in the family room were just a few of our favorite activities during our week-long visit. The location is very close to the Saranac Lake airport and more importantly, very close to the best ice cream you have ever tasted!
The house is fully stocked with plenty of clean linens, towels, and everything you could need in the kitchen. The owners were so very friendly, answering all of our questions immediately! We are already planning our return visit and hope to make this an annual trip!
Camp Mac is perfectly positioned to take advantage of all there is to offer in the town of Saranac Lake as well as Lake Placid and the Olympic destinations. Camp Mac is a 10-minute drive to Lake Clear, which is home to one of the most beautiful beaches in the Adirondacks. The Visitor Interpretive Center at Paul Smith's is a short drive away. The VIC has miles of family-friendly hiking and cross-country skiing trails. Within a 25-minute drive is Tupper Lake and The Wild Center, the Natural History Museum of the Adirondacks. In addition to all of this, hiking trails, the St. Regis Canoe Area, and all that the Adirondack wilderness offers is right outside your doorstep.
