About Dee Dee or John Heidelman

Both John and Dee Dee grew up in Southern California. John earned his bachelor's degree at Loyola University and a Master's in Business at USC. Dee Dee is the UCLA Bruin and has a Master's in Psychology from Antioch University. We typically go to Mammoth once a month but with our son playing club volleyball and attending Oaks Christian High School, our opportunity to get away is temporarily limited. We love to ski in the winter and hike, bike, canoe and fish in the spring, summer and fall.

Dee Dee or John Heidelman purchased this townhome in 1998

Why Dee Dee or John Heidelman chose Mammoth Lakes

We have been skiing Mammoth since our teens. We purchased this town home because we wanted a second home to enjoy with our family and friends. We were told 'skiers buy for the winters but keep for the summers', and it is so true. It's hard to say what season we like best! We bought this particular unit because it easily accommodates two families. The 'in town' location is perfect for easy access in the winter (no tricky, out of the way streets that you can't find when the snow is piled high) and for summer evening walks to local restaurants and entertainment, or Mammoth Creek park. It is also conveniently located on the shuttle route.

What makes this townhome unique

We have completely remodeled the unit and hope you will find it as warm and cozy as we do. Our antler chandelier, knotty pine ceiling, and dry stack stone fireplace give us the mountain feel we so love. When we remodeled, we added the mud room which allowed us to have a large deck upstairs. We enjoy barbecues and dining on the deck and using the mud room to store our gear or tune our skis.

Great Town Home, lots of space

  • 5 of 5

We spent a week in this Town Home, and it was a perfect. We had a large group (10 people) and there was plenty of space for everyone. The two downstairs bedrooms with their own bathrooms are really nice. The kitchen is spacious and fully stocked. The loft is perfect for 4 kids or adults.

We love the location. Right in the heart of old Mammoth, and close to everything.

We will definitely be staying here again. Thanks Dee Dee and John.

Accurately marketed and worked out perfectly for our short trip!

  • 5 of 5

Loved this rental. It was exactly what we were expecting and in good shape. Dee was very easy and friendly to work with, especially when we arrived early. The maintenance guy (Juan) was also very helpful and prompt. I would highly recommend following their directions as they are very helpful and will answer all of your questions.

False VRBO Listing

  • 2 of 5

VRBO has this property listed as 3 Bedrooms and a loft. It is only TWO bedrooms and a loft. The loft has two child size trundle beds with very thin mattresses. One of the trundle beds sags in the middle if an adult tries to sleep on it. There was a exhaust fan in the loft which was unable to cool down the room during our stay. We attempted to use the fold out couch on the main floor, but it was very lumpy and we could not find any bedding for it. As a result my son and his family had to find another place to stay after only one night. The two lower bedrooms were fine and we were able to open the outside windows to get a cross breeze and cool these rooms.

Owner's Response: The Headline for my rental is Spacious Town Home - Perfect In All Seasons - 2+Loft Clearly this renter has misunderstood. The summary repeats - two bedroom-loft, three bathroom town home. And again in the full descriptions the bedrooms and loft are described and I do say the loft is great for kids - Queen bedroom suites offer privacy with in suite bathrooms, plenty of closet space and TVs. A third full bathroom (with large walk-in shower) is located on the living room level serving the main living area and the loft. The loft has two trundle beds (sleeps 4) and an armoire; it's great for extra guests or your kids. The living room couch is a queen sleeper sofa. Sadly this guest called me the morning of checkout with this list of complaints and asked if I would give him a discount due to his son leaving (I did do this). When I provide the access instructions and directions I ask our renters to call during their stay should any problems arise so that they may be addressed as we have onsite management and can remedy issues during the stay (such as locate linens or teach you how to use the fan only part of the heating system to draw warm air from upstairs to downstairs). Most of our guests that have any questions or problems call us during their stay. We are happy to resolve any problems in a timely manner. The loft trundle beds have thick mattresses on the top but only the 8" mattresses fit in the lower trundle system. My 6'3" 180# son sleeps in the loft with his friends and the bed fits them. We will be in Mammoth in September and will check the mattresses and trundle bed frame.

Great family vacation

  • 5 of 5

We had six people staying here this past weekend and had a fabulous time. The loft area was hard to control temperature wise, but it didn't matter much now because it wasn't freezing. Other than that, this is a great place to stay and I would highly recommend it.

Owner's Response: Glad you had a good time. The way to control the loft is to turn the system to fan only so warm air from above circulates to the lower levels.

Eagle Lodge at Mammoth Mountain

In the winter, Mammoth is famous for skiing and snowboarding with over 350 inches of annual average snowfall. Ride the Gondola to the top for a spectacular view of the Sierras (ski, board, bike or ride down). In the summer be sure to visit the Lakes Basin where there are several spectacular lakes you can drive to and even more that are a short day hike (Mcleod and TJ are favorites). Boat and paddle board rentals are available. There are numerous town bike trails and on the mountain biking trails. Take your bike on the town trolly (catch it in the Village) to the top of Lake Mary Road and enjoy the scenic bike path ride back to the Village. Try a horseback tour from Mammoth Pack Station. Take your little ones to McGee ponds to see the huge fish (catch and release for a small fee). Visit Yosemite National Park and Mono Lake, both with in an hours drive. Mammoth has everything you could want from a vacation location - fine dining, adventure, romance, family activities….
