About Mark & Jean Heinze

We've lived in other scenic areas - Montana, California and Oregon. During a vacation to the western NC in 2013, we visited many towns and looked at many houses, but were drawn to the beauty of Waynesville and its proximity to a multitude of gorgeous vistas, hiking trails, waterfalls, Cataloochee valley with roaming elk, Catalochee Ski Hill, varied shopping and good restaurants. During this vacation, we were fortunate to discover a lovely and secluded Craftsman style home that is modern and stylish, yet also rustic. We enjoy sharing our home with others and hope you find peace and tranquility during your stay!

Mark & Jean Heinze purchased this house in 2013

Why Mark & Jean Heinze chose Smoky Mountains

-Great panoramic views

-Peace & quiet

-Large well-built craftsmen house with cathedral wood ceilings and wood floors, large covered decks

-Gas fireplace - favorite spot during the fall & winter is the great room by the fire.

-Paved road up to house.

What makes this house unique

End of the road private location.

Our two-week stay at this Waynesville mountain home was perfect in every way!

  • 5 of 5

This house is lovely -- very well-equipped with everything we needed down to a basket of beach towels near the hot tub, extra propane for the grill, a great cook's kitchen, and convenient new washer & dryer. Everything is extremely comfortable and well-maintained in like-new condition. The location is easy to access and convenient to several charming towns, many good restaurants, and an abundance of nature trails, parks, creeks, and Blue Ridge Parkway experiences. The weather was great, with warm breezy days and cool evenings -- we were able to snuggle up around the fire pit! We especially loved spending time on the shady upper deck with amazing mountain views. There is plenty of comfortable seating and a nice dining set on the deck, so we were able to enjoy most of our meals outside. We have stayed in many vacation homes, and this is absolutely one of the very best -- truly a mountain gem. We can't wait to return!

Great property, great hosts

  • 5 of 5

Excellent property with great views and great proximity to nature but also to the everyday things you'll need, such as grocery stores, etc. If you have any hesitation about booking this place, go for it! Very private, which was great if you're like us and want to get away from it all and have your own secluded area. From the porch you have long views of the mountain range, with the mountains at various depths, which makes for great scenery and relaxation. You are close to both Cherokee national park and to Pisgah national forest. Both have great hikes as long or as short as you'd like. Excellent scenery, waterfalls, creeks, forests, etc. Convenient access to I-40, to 19 and/or the Blue Ridge parkway, which you can take to Cherokee national park. Good golf around as well. Check out Sequoyah national golf club for some great views, great elevation, and challenging layout. Asheville not too far either. We found ourselves enjoying the nature aspect more than the city, but if you wanted to get into Asheville it is a fairly easy drive hopping on the interstate. One other thing that we were impressed with is that the owners didn't take any shortcuts with the appliances. Nice range, nice washers, comfortable beds, they didn't skimp on anything. We'd love to come back. Bottom line, great place, great hosts. Book it and you will no be disappointed.

We loved it!

  • 5 of 5

The house is awesome! Mark and Jean are very responsive owners. The kitchen is well equipped and the beds are comfortable. We loved sitting on the porches enjoying the views and relaxing in the hot tub. The location of the house is the perfect central location to everything we wanted to do. We had a blast visiting the Biltmore House, hiking, swimming at Skinny Dip Falls and Sliding Rock, whitewater rafting on the Nantahala, enjoying the mountain views on the Parkway, and horseback riding at the Cataloochee Ranch. Downtown Waynesville is a quaint mountain town that offers great shopping and restaurants. We appreciated a break from the Florida heat and our busy lives and hope to visit again soon!

Beautiful Secluded Mountainside Home

  • 5 of 5

The home is located at the top of a very steep road/driveway which makes for some great, but challenging walks. The views are amazing and ever changing based on the cloud formations. The house is very clean and beautiful inside with a very nice modern kitchen and great room plus nice bathrooms and bedrooms. Everything you need is there for your stay. We loved the 2 large covered decks with the swings, rocking chairs, grill and of course the large hot tub. The house is in a great location so you can take advantage of all the activities in the area. We highly recommend the drive to Clingman's Dome, white water rafting, golfing, hiking, and the numerous scenic drives.
