About Mark & Jean Heinze

We've lived in other scenic areas - Montana, California and Oregon. During a vacation to the western NC in 2013, we visited many towns and looked at many houses, but were drawn to the beauty of Waynesville and its proximity to a multitude of gorgeous vistas, hiking trails, waterfalls, Cataloochee valley with roaming elk, Catalochee Ski Hill, varied shopping and good restaurants. During this vacation, we were fortunate to discover a lovely and secluded Craftsman style home that is modern and stylish, yet also rustic. We enjoy sharing our home with others and hope you find peace and tranquility during your stay!

Mark & Jean Heinze purchased this house in 2013

Terrific Family Getaway

  • 5 of 5

Waynesville is a small mountain town with picturesque scenery, quaint shops and fabulous restaurants. We know this town because my husband's mom had a house on the mountain that we absolutely loved! We were last in Waynesville when our daughter was 5 and now she is a mother of one-year old twins - so we thought - let's go to Waynesville! After searching the HomeAway site - I was attracted to Jean and Mark's home because of the layout, the privacy and the views! The house is nicely furnished and we couldn't have asked for a better family escape! We took family walks around Lake Junaluska, day trips to Asheville and Hendersonville and mainly enjoying being together away from day to day hustle. Even our grandfur-pup enjoyed his visit. Thank you Mark and Jean for sharing your home - it's fabulous!

Wonderful stay!

  • 5 of 5

Despite the unseasonably cold weather, this house was nearly perfect for our family of 5. We had originally planned to spend nearly every waking hour of our stay out exploring the region, but the weather kept us in the house more often than not.

It's a beautiful house with a great view and it is very well-appointed and just plain comfortable. We loved the privacy of the lot...very peaceful. The location is outstanding, with easy access to I-40 if you're heading to Asheville or beyond, and it's within minutes of Maggie Valley, Waynesville, and access to the Blue Ridge Parkway. The house is also very close to the Cataloochee Valley, one of the hidden gems of Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

Mark and Jean were easy to work with and Heather, the property manager, took great care of us. This was our first ever vacation rental and we'll gladly do it again thanks to this experience!

Exceptional home!

  • 5 of 5

Great view! The house is new, updated and immaculate! Cleanliness is a make or break for my travel. It was a pleasure staying in a home that is so well taken care of. I also appreciate such a nice place to stay that allow's dogs. It is favorable to vacation in a place that you would be happy to call home.

Simple but thorough directions were provided for arrival and departure and the listing on VRBO was just as described.

Our next trip will be longer then the 3 days that we stayed there, but our short amount time was appreciated. Looking forward to a return trip some day.

Beautiful home, wonderful time.

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time and enjoyed our stay. The house was roomy, loved fireplace, views from the decks, and fall colors. We ate at the Sweet Onion, Deli next door, Joey's Pancakes, and visited Barbers Apple Farm, delicious apples, ciders, and desserts. Coming from Florida we enjoyed the Fall weather, raking leaves and jumping into them. Thank you!

Amazing views, beautiful home!

  • 5 of 5

Our family of five really loved this house. It was very secluded - we never saw anyone the entire time we were at the house. Every day we took a day trip - Biltmore, Asheville, whitewater rafting on the Upper Pigeon, hiking twice in the Smoky Mountain National Park, concluding with a trip to Sliding Rock in the Pisgah National Forest. These were long, fun, tiring days, and it was great to come "home" to such a great place! Thanks!
