We raised our family of six children not far from Yosemite National Park. Our children have many memories of our family hiking and backpack trips to Yosemite. We had always wanted to have a vacation home in the pines and near Yosemite. When we discovered Pine Mountain Lake, we knew we had found our second home! This home is the place where we spend many weekends as a family. Our teenagers love the freedom to take the kayaks out onto the lake or to the marina for snacks or entertainment. There are cement steps into the shallow water area near our dock, where our young grandchildren love to splash and play.
Sheri purchased this House in 2012
Why Sheri chose Groveland
We always dreamed of a vacation home in the mountains. When we found this property in 2012, we fell in love with it and purchased it the same day. It is a dream come true. Waterfront property amid beautiful pines, and only 20 minutes from Yosemite National Park which we love.
What makes this House unique
There really is nothing like waking up in the master bedroom where the bed faces the small bay window. The first thing you see when you open your eyes, is the beautiful blue lake amid the tall pines. It is the most peaceful place we have ever slept. Our family enjoys taking the kayaks out onto the water several times a day. Mornings are particularly quiet and peaceful as you glide through the water. You will paddle alongside the swans, geese and ducks. Deer watch you from the waters edge. Watching the sunset from the lake is spectacular.

Awesome from beginning to end
We had an incredible time here! We picked up our son who goes to college in CA and headed to Panorama Place. The home is magnificent! Spotless and lots to do. We kayaked, relaxed on the deck, sat out on the patio and had dinner and enjoyed close up views of the eagle's nest! We also had family pool tournaments into the late hours! We also spent a few mornings and afternoons hiking in Yosemite. It's about an hour drive to the park. Sheri was delightful! She is kind, generous and very responsive. I texted her during our stay with a few questions and she responded immediately. I didn't get to meet her in person, but I really wish I would have had the opportunity. Out stay could not have been any better! Thank you Sheri!!!!
Thank you so much for your very nice comments! You and your family are wonderful renters. You left the house clean and in good condition. We appreciate renters who care for our home as if it were their own. We are glad you all had a good time. Hope to have you back again! -Sheri
And a good time was had by all...
Sheri was a great host from first contact to final text. The house is right on the lake, and the kayaks have a home next to the water. Two days we went to Yosemite, wonderfully convenient. The rest of the time we played on the water, sunned on the deck or just relaxed.
$30 for the parking pass now, and a front or 4W drive is necessary.
House was wonderful, comfortable and definitely on my favorites list now
I recommend this lake front home for a memorable Yosemite trip - just be aware of a few things
Things I loved:
-The owner was extremely friendly and responsive
-Beautiful lake views from all three floors
-The washer and dryer were new and extra-large
-The kayaks and pool table were great
-Owners provided extra propane tanks in case the grill ran out of gas
Things that future renters should be aware of:
-Pine Lake Association charges $27 per car (for the week)
-There is NO trash or recycling pick up. You must transport your trash to a dumpster that is about a 5-10 min drive away. (The recycling center is 15-20 min away and the keeper is grumpy-I don't recc going).
-Std Trash bags are $7 (first trash bag free). The bags are the size of a typical large black garbage bag, which would have been plenty of room for everything except the recycling.
-The upstairs bedroom that faces the lake doesn't have curtains - so NO sleeping in!
-It is a 1-3 hour drive to the amazing "must-see" Yosemite attractions.
-The house is not updated, but it is clean and roomy. The beds are just OK- not extremely comfortable.
-The house is close to the marina and beach area - so during peak season it is somewhat loud during the day. The homes on either side of the house are very close.
-Lots of pine needles and cones dropping on the deck and path everyday - so you need shoes. The landscaper came to blow them away once while we were there, but unfortunately, it was our last day and we were trying to enjoy the dock when they were working.
-There are not many restaurants nearby. The local supermarket is small, but it is nearby - about 10 min away. There is a small pharmacy about 15 minutes away - closes at 6pm during week and at 3pm on Saturdays (not open Sunday).
Things I wish the house included:
-A binder of information for the renters (although the owner is very responsive to texts, I would have loved to have the information on hand to review at my leisure). Maybe include info such as: how to operate the appliances, info about Pine Lake amenities and rules, a map of Pine Lake and the local area, favorite restaurants, hikes, etc.
-Trash and recycling pickup.
-A few more bath towels and some beach towels.
-A 6-quart cooking pot - or one that is large enough to boil water for 2 pounds of pasta.
-Better non-stick saute pans.
-Some coffee filters to get the new renters through the first morning.
-A few more (ceramic?) coffee mugs.
-Smaller drinking glasses (most of the ones available are too big and heavy)
-Dock ladder for swimmers
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review so that we can address the issues that could be improved.
We have added several things that you have suggested. While all of the information about our home is available through the vrbo/homeaway hospitality app, a binder containing all of that info is now available for those who don't wish to use the app. We now provide more towels. We have upgraded cookware and mugs in the kitchen. There is now a better variety of drinking glasses; some glass for indoors and some acrylic for the patio or outdoor use.
We apologize that our yardcare was blowing the walks at an inconvenient time. We do get a lot of pine needles that drop. In the future, we will try to make sure that the walks are cleared at a more convenient time. We now provide more trash bags and encourage our renters to use the new trash compactor in the kitchen.
We have a new, more comfortable mattress in the master bedroom, as well as new window coverings. Other mattress upgrades coming soon. A new TV allows for better ability to stream movies.
We always appreciate helpful suggestions from our renters.
Panoramic Place was a piece of Paradise! A beautiful spot right on the lake with plenty of room for our multigenerational family. The kayaks were awesome. We cooked all of our meals in the well stocked kitchen or on the BBQ and pretty much never left. Swimming, fishing, kayaking and keeping an eye out for the baby eagles kept us well entertained. Sheri was a very gracious and generous host- always easily available by phone or email. We had a wonderful vacation!
Perfect for 3 generations!
Teens, parents, AND grandparents all had a great time here! The house was impeccably clean and well supplied. The view is gorgeous and we made full use of the easy access to the water. The kayaks were a huge treat and we used them every day to explore the lake and fish and relax. The owner was extremely helpful and very easy to contact with any questions. We loved this rental and hope to return!
Dad was a hero!
We are a family of 7 and this was the first vacation that Dad (me) made all of the arrangements. VRBO and the property owner Sheri made it very simple. I checked some reviews, read the description, looked at the pictures, and pulled the trigger. I got a response to my request the next day, answered a few questions, and everything was set up quickly. My kids (4 boys and the youngest a girl) are 24, 18, 16, 14, and 13. Like a lot of kids these ages not much measures up to their expectations. In the days prior to leaving, and on the drive up, I put some effort into lowering expectations in an attempt to avoid the inevitable teenager disappointment. From the time we pulled into the driveway, until we pulled out, I was the man! There was excitement from everybody. I heard "This is awesome" "How did you find this place" "Good job Dad" and best of all "Thank you". We had planned on going to Yosemite, and doing a few other things that fell by the wayside. Everyone was content just to hang around the house and play in the water. Kayaks were great and we used them a lot. We did go horseback riding and went into Groveland a couple of times, but most of the time we were at the house. I was happy just to sit out on the private dock/deck with a drink in my hand watching my family smile, laugh, play, and talk. There was no cell coverage at the house which I loved. I was really on vacation with no way for a phone or lap top to take anything away from the me. My wife & I got to see our kids faces and hear them talk rather than looking at the tops of their heads in silence. The property is private, but not desolate, with incredible views that can not be overstated. This was one of the best vacations we've ever had, and one that will never be forgotten.
