About Meg Kelly
My grandparents immigrated from Ireland, bought a house on the Hill, and my family has been here ever since. My friends and I spent our summers running around the air-conditioned halls of Capitol and Smithsonians. My husband and I lived in NY and L.A. (he's an actor, I'm a scriptwriter) and moved back in 2005 to be near my parents. We've loved watching our kids grow up in this wonderful neighborhood. We are on-site to help make your stay a great one.

Why Meg Kelly chose Eastern Market
We wanted to be walking distance from my parents, near Eastern Market and one of the greatest second-hand bookstores, Capitol Hill Books. Grocery shopping at eastern Market, nearby Harris Teeter, and charming corner stores make this an easy neighborhood to live in. We also love using the indoor, public pool one block away, and walking our dogs in beautiful Lincoln Park. Our daughter loves rowing on the Potomac River. Kayaks and other boats are available to rent at Thompson's Boat House. My kids also love hitting a bucket of balls at Hain's Point public golf course. Bike share stations are all over the city, two within a few blocks of our house.
What makes this Apartment unique
We love this house for a lot of reasons, historic charm, location, friendly neighbors, and, because its a corner house, the large, sunny rooms. The apartment is English basement, with two or more 3x3 windows in every room. We're around the corner from coffee shops, cafes, Eastern Market and, on weekends, a flea and farmer's market. The Metro, two blocks away, means the zoo, downtown, Chinatown, Reagan Airport, George Washington University and American University are all easily accessible and quick to reach.

Very nice, quiet place!
This was our second stay. It was wonderful, the convenience of the market and location of the apartment is great. We used the grill twice over the weekend as the weather was very nice.
Great rental for DC visit
Amazing place to stay in DC. Minutes away from the sights and museums. The Eastern Market and Trader Joe's allowed us to keep our food costs down. Felt very safe in the house and had plenty of hot water for our family of four. The rental could use a larger coffee maker, but there is a Starbucks 6 minutes away. Thanks for making the stay such a pleasure that gave us great family memories.
Great stay, great location!
Our family of 5 loved our stay in Meg's apartment-- it's spacious, bright, and thoughtfully appointed. Right around the corner from Eastern Market, close to restaurants, Trader Joe's, and Metro stop. Easy walk to the Library of Congress, Capitol, and National Mall. Perfect home base for exploring!
Place on the Hill
I have No negatives. My Dad, my daughter and I gathered here. The host was able to respond to my contacts immediately. The area is 100% walkable every hour of every day. For food try the restaurant at 2020 Pennsylvania ave west and Ted Bulletin. If you want to see The Hill/Smithsonian from a walkable distance, Stay here! We walked to The Museum of the American Indian then The Library of Congress on the return trip. There was SO much information in the archives. Even upon returning to the apartment we kept sharing what we had seen with one another confirming with one another what we thought we had seen. This Homeaway is a Great Launch Place Every Venture we planned into the archives of DC. The black out curtains in the space were noted as invaluable because of their necessity. The black out curtains were a blessing, I had not taken into account that I was staying in a city. (Reality is a kicker). Thank you for your foresight. The living area and kitchen nook accommodations in this space were perfect for both comfort and discussions.
The space was warm, I should have asked where the thermostat was. I loved the dimmers on the light switches. This is an "Accessory Dwelling Unit" that has design additions that brighten the space: well placed transparent blocks in walls, and the pass through to the kitchen sink come immediately to mind.
Perfect location and large living
The apartment was large and had all of the amenties you could need. We (a couple, and two adult children) are big on table games at night, and there a lot to choose from, as well as a well-loved book and DVD collection. Around the block from Eastern Market, and ☕️, plus a plethora of restaurants. We walked to and from the National Mall, and enjoyed our time.
This lovely apartment is a short walk, bike or Metro ride to the ever DC must-sees, including the Capitol, Library of Congress, Smithsonians, monuments, Kennedy Center. Outlet shopping at National Harbor, kayack and boat rentals at Thompson's boat house.
