A magic week!
For our family of 20 ( with 10 Children 2-15 years), these twinhouses were just perfect. Everything was even better than we had imagined from the description:
the rooms, all with bathrooms/showers, the kitchens, the equipment, were more than satisfactory. According to the children the pool made the week super!
The property was very clean and well maintained and the housekeeper was very kind and helpful.
Capestang is a lovely village in beautiful surroundings close to beaches and interesting sites. Good restaurants and shopping around the corner.
We really recommend this property to friends and relatives!
“Charming, tranquil, old-world elegance”
My party of 16 multi-generational adults had a wonderful, wonderful time at Villa Le Manoir and Le Vigneron. We rented both properties for a week in September and enjoyed the unusual mix of privacy (the property is surrounded by a high wall and gate), and easy access to small shops and services simply by walking out of the door. We have rented large places in the past and they are generally out in the country, meaning it is a car trip of several miles to pick up groceries or anything else. The Capestang property is obviously historic and very old but nicely appointed. We are a group that enjoys cooking rather elaborate meals together, and the kitchen in the large house was perfectly adequate for our evening meals for 16. Frequently we ate on the arbor-covered deck near the pool, though one rainy night it was easy to fit us all around the dining table inside. All of the rooms are very nice and several are spectacular, with beautiful picture windows opening out to the village skyline. And, yes, the village's medieval church is perhaps 100 yards away, and bells ring frequently. But it is charming. I'm a light sleeper but I did not mind the bells at all, and most of my group slept through them after the first or second night.
We also enjoyed the pool, which is appealingly surrounded by 8 or 9 lounge chairs.
As for Capestang, it has two small markets per week. (Meaning about 50 yards from the front door of the property.) We made several meals with food purchased at those markets. The lovely Midi Canal is a 10 minute walk and, being a wine loving group, we also found a couple of very small wine producers with tasting rooms right in Capestang.
French character and charm!!
I rented Manoir, Vigeneron and Grange for a large group of 22 to celebrate a significant birthday and I was not disappointed.
Everything about the houses, courtyard, pool area exceeded expectation. So full of character and for a large group, very sociable, from dinner for 22 in the Manoir on the first night (tight squeeze but doable), provided by Radhia, the excellent and friendly housekeeper, to morning coffee and croissants in the courtyard, to BBQ by the pool on the Sunday evening - it delivered everything I wanted.
We go away as a group every year, all over Europe, and the comments from my fellow travellers were all universally positive and included 'the best property we have ever rented'.
Capestang is lovely, typically French, with a good bar/restaurant on the square where the host took our dinner reservation and moved the tables around so that we could watch the Top14 Rugby play-offs over and after dinner!
Beautiful Church, with noisy bells..... and a lovely cafe on the square, that was also home to a sunday market. Nice walk up to the Canal du Midi.
The owners could not have been more helpful when booking and in giving tips on the lead up to our visit. I would have no hesitation in recommending to friends and relatives, with the Manoir being the pick of the properties.

Wonderful location in the middle of the village. Nice charming houses with a lovely poolarea. Churchbells going wild every half hour 24-hour around...
We chose Le Manoir and Le Vigneron in Capestang for a family re-union. There were 19 of us from 3 generations, ages 11 to 80. The facilities were excellent for our group. We had ample sleeping accomodations and with the cooperation of good weather we were all able to eat together in the spacious courtyard. The beautiful swimming pool was popular with all ages and got lots of use.
The attractions in the surrounding area were enjoyed every day by various members of our group. But the most endearing feature of our week's stay was the village of Capestang itsself. The main square which is a short stroll from our gate was always active and a fun place to visit - - whether for the morning pastry shopping trip, the market-days, the restaurants, or just hanging out.
On a previous re-union 3 years ago, we stayed at a villa which was more oppulent, but it was located in the countryside - - miles from the nearest village. We all agreed that being at the center of Capestang was the best.
Jewel of a Property
Our group of 15(ages 15-73) stayed at both houses the last week of July. Everyone had a terrific time in this fabulous property and wonderful town. The houses on arrival were very clean and everything prepared. The kitchen is well stocked for even the most serious cooks. The private front courtyard is great for playing, eating, drinking especially in the afternoon when it is shaded. The pool area is gorgeous with the view of the Cathedral and its wall are covered with blooming flowers and shrubs. The picture on the web site doesn't do it justice. We ate most dinners out there in the evenings and it is magical. The character of the big house is part of the special experience of staying there. It is large, very spacious with great bathrooms but makes you feel you are living in a different era. As an american We truly felt French for the week. The location of the property is perfect. It is 100 yards from the town square where there is a great pizzeria, other restaurants, bars, bank, pharmacy and bakeries. In the morning for a cafe and croissant it is perfect and then at night for a drink. The town's location is great for many day trips to the beach, vineyards, Carcassone, Montpelier and even Nimes or Avignon, This property is a gem and and not just a destination but an experience. The owner is very professional and helpful. We hope to return.
Capestang is a beautiful 13c village on the Canal du Midi, and is surrounded by lovely vineyards and woods for walking and cycling and riding. There are lots of very good markets in this area, both for wonderful fresh fruit and vegetables and general goods. The coast is 20 mins away with sandy beaches, some excellent fish restaurants and the fish market of Sete. For history there is the ancient walled city of Carcasonne, the Roman town of Narbonne, and the city of Perpignan. Montpellier, the buzzing university town, is only an hour away. Spain is only an 1 1/2 drive away and has a very different style to France. Or just sit by the pool with a book. Other Activities: Cruising on the cana du midi
