Heidi is the President of Westside Community Improvement Association, a community activist and owner of Eureka Vacation Rentals. She owns and manages 3 historic homes in Eureka and has a commitment to offering beautiful affordable accommodations to people visiting the Victorian Seaport of Eureka and the surrounding Redwoods.
I own the Bright and Airy Yellow Cottage about 2 blocks away and work building a community owned Community Center and Free Public Park 3 blocks away. I love and am committed to the vibrant revitalization effort on the Westside and consider the Pink Craftsman an opportunity to save another one of eureka's Historic Beautys. I am so excited to be able to buy it and can not wait to share it with you! The house has all of the original builtin's and wood work and I will eventually convert all of the modern upgrades (Kitchen and bathroom floors) back to period.
The pink craftsman has all of the original built in features, is on a quiet street, has a private yard and is a quick walk to Oldtown. The home is located smack dab in the middle of everything a Northcoast Vacation has to offer and is nestled among the Victorian Beauties of the Historic Clark District in Eureka. This house has everything!
I really wanted to be in love with this pink Craftsman home, but the love just didn't flow.
First of all, we had a terribly hard time unlocking the front door--the deadbolt didn't open the way it should, and the quikset lock was keyed backward.
When we walked in, the house smelled terribly musty, which was off-putting. It is also a very dark home, due to the dark wood and low lighting.
Front porch and steps needed paint; it was cracked, faded, and missing in places. The screen in the back door was also ripped and torn.
One of the table lamps in the living room did not work. I tried replacing the bulb, but that wasn't the problem. The other lamps were of very low wattage, impossible to use for reading.
Fortunately the bed linens were not musty-smelling, and the beds were comfortable.
The kitchen was well supplied and we appreciated being able to cook there.
Appreciated having the washer/dryer.
Did not appreciate that once the toilet paper roll on the spindle ran out, there was no more to be found anywhere in the house. We had to make a separate trip to the store to buy more TP. Not acceptable!
The house was not in the middle of lots of other old homes, a very mixed lot.
All in all, it was not the lovely house I had expected from the online description. I would not recommend staying here.
Had a great time! Lovely home. We had a great thanksgiving with a beautiful dining room to enjoy our family time. Would stay here anytime. The only two things that could make it better , one would be a door mat to wipe off your wet feet. And a was to keep the sun out of the bedroom windows in the morning.
Very nice place with a great fenced in backyard for dogs. Short drive to Arcata for dinner and the Redwoods and Fern Canyon to the North. Would definitely come back, House was clean and very spacious.
Beautiful home, so comfortable and convenient. Booking and paying were easy and entry was so smooth. We had a plumbing issue, and the management had it resolved that same morning. Things happen with older homes, they can't prevent that, but the key is how quickly and courteously they resolve those issues, and in this case, they were outstanding. Highly recommended.
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this house!! So reminiscent of Berkeley/Oakland craftsman that I grew up in. We felt at home the minute we walked in! Even though the house is 101 years old, everything was extremely clean and comfortable. All amenities that the modern day person needs with more than enough character to satisfy the history lovers! Backyard was manicured and what a treat for our two little dogs! Having breakfast on the back porch in the morning sun with the birds chirping was so relaxing and very private. Heidi is wonderful to work with, it is such a pleasure to rent from her. We will definitely be returning to this beautiful house.
This was our third stay at this lovely central Eureka home, and our fourth stay in one of Heidi's rentals. As always the home was clean, comfortable and easily accessible. We ate delicious crab sandwiches from Hole in the Wall (crab only available on Fridays); Hawaiian food from The Banana Hut; and amazing waffles and breakfast at Golden Harvest. Our dogs adjust so easily here and feel right at home, exploring the backyard and lounging near the heater. This trip we took them for a romp at Clam Beach in McKinleyville, where we witnessed one of the most beautiful sunsets. Overall, this home is perfect for our trips, whether long or short, while Heidi and Lynzee make the entire rental process a breeze.
This charming 1914 Craftsman Bungalow has all of its original charm. Located in the Historic Clark district, you will be nestled among the greatest Victorian architectural showpieces in California. The home is tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean. Located a very short walk to Oldtown, enjoy dining, a plethora of art galleries, a carriage ride, a bay tour, museums, live theater an award winning brewery and on the First Saturday Arts Alive! with every shop open late serving wine and snacks and featuring Humboldt Counties greatest artists, a must'nt miss!!
The home is located conveniently between the Giant Redwoods at Redwood National Park to the North, Avenue of the Giants to the South and just 7 miles away from Headwaters reserve. A 5 minute drive to the beach and a 5 minute walk to the bay, this home has it all.
