About the property

3 Bedroom 2 Bath

The unit is newly remodeled, located on the bottom floor, with a brand new kitchen and appliances. Gas stove and oven, dishwasher disposal. The kitchen is stocked with dishes, flatware, casserole dishes serving bowls and baskets. Paper towels and napkins are conveniently located in pantry. There is washer and dryer located in the kitchen. Newly remodeled bathrooms feature new tile both on floors and in showers/tub. There are three bedrooms and two bathrooms, the master bedroom features its own full bath. Linens and towels, and hair dryer are provided.

The middle bedroom is across from guest bath, also newly decorated with brass headboard and chest of drawers with mirror. The guest bath has 5' x 2' tiled shower with shower curtain. The third bedroom is located off the living room and features large closet, chest of drawers and night stand with light.

Parking is conveniently located in front of the unit. The upstairs unit is also a VRBO, but is limited to two guests. The outside of the unit is freshly painted and the yard is fenced in. The garages are not available at this time for guests. The yard has a bbq. Garbage cans are outside unit. Please take cans to street if you are staying over Sunday night as service comes Monday mornings as well as the landscaper. The unit is approximately 1100 square feet. Though there are three bedrooms and can sleep up to six, it would be very close quarters for six adults. I would highly recommend 4 adults, with 2 children to be comfortable.

About Brenda Bowen

I raised in Chico, went to Chico High School, Butte and CSU Chico. I enjoy hiking, biking and working out at the gym. In my spare time I love playing the piano and painting.

Brenda Bowen purchased this house in 1991

Why Brenda Bowen chose Chico

I have owned this property for 22 years and have had lots of great tenants. The bottom unit came available and as I was making plans to renovate it an associate suggested that I try renting it out as a vacation rental. She has one and has had success. I have had the kitchen and bathrooms completely updated. Everything is brand new. I enjoyed decorating it with both my art and art from other locale artists. The unit is approximately 1000 square feet. As this is a downstairs unit, to enter the unit you must go down several steps. It is not wheel chair accessible.

What makes this house unique

It is located close to down town shopping and restaurants. Sierra Nevada Brewery is a half a mile away. Sicilian Clan Restaurant is also close, as well as many of Chico's fine dining establishments.

This property is exceptional. Clean, comfortable, quiet. I would recommend it in a heartbeat. It's in a safe location which is close to downtown. Also, the owner was extremely gracious and easy to reach during my stay. 5 stars!

Exactly what we needed!

  • 5 of 5

We were looking for a fun weekend at our alma mater and this place helped exceed our expectations for the weekend. In terms of location, it's not too far from downtown/campus, but in a good, quiet and peaceful spot. The size was perfect four the six of us (three couples) and the outside patio area was a great spot to unwind. The kitchen/amenities were great and certainly beat staying at a hotel. We would definitely like to stay here again in the future, and would recommend this spot to any and all of our friends looking for a nice weekend in Chico.

Family gathering in Chico

  • 4 of 5

Our stay in Chico was great - the house was very clean, nicely decorated and ended up being bigger than we anticipated so was great for our family to gather in the dining room area. Back yard very nice as well. Brenda was very responsive and helpful. Guest bathroom rather small.

Nicely remodeled and excellent amenities

  • 4 of 5

Our group (4 senior fellows) rented this property for a short fishing vacation on the Sacramento River. It suited our needs very well. Things to know: it is located much closer to Hwy 99 than to Interstate 5 (and not far from Sierra Nevada Brewing, if that is of interest), and the accommodations are the downstairs (partly below ground) of a two story house. The bathrooms are a bit on the small side (for four men). The kitchen is well stocked with utensils and amenities. The owner met us at the house, walked us through and made us feel very comfortable.

Comfortable place to stay in Chico!

  • 5 of 5

I stayed here 4 nights with my parents, my husband, and our toddler and we loved it! My parents had never stayed in a vacation rental before and are now convinced it's the only way to travel. We each had our own room, there is a washer/dryer, two full bathrooms, and a fully stocked kitchen. All for far less than the cost of two hotel rooms to accommodate all of us. The place is walking distance to a taco shop, a Mexican bakery, and nice little playground for my daughter to play in. The neighborhood is beautiful and shady, we enjoyed strolling around. The place is centrally located and my husband and dad popped over to have a few beers at Sierra Nevada Brewery. The sitting area is a little small for 5 adults, but we weren't there to watch TV marathons anyway. We had to move some breakable things out of the way for our toddler (totally understandable) and had to watch her on the stairs, but everything was comfortable. Brenda was really great, very helpful. I forgot some shoes and she made sure I got them back a few days later. Would definitely stay here again!
