About Jessie

"LOCAL RENTALS managed by LOCAL FOLKS since 1993".

In 1993, along with my wife, I left my Engineering Position with a company in the NorthEast Atlanta area and moved to the Lake Hartwell area where we began "MOUNTAIN LAKES VACATION RENTALS". The cheese has been moving constantly snce then. The Engineering background has enabled us to keep up with these changes.

We have been fortunate to be able to find quality employees who all live on or near Lake Hartwell. We have developed our own Web Site and also a Smart Phone friendly web site. We now list our rentals on several commercial sites such as VRBO and as well as working closely with local Chambers and both the Georgia and South Carolina tourism agencies.

ON-LINE RESERVATIONS & CURRENT AVAILABILITY of ALL our houses is available on the Mountain Lakes Vacation Rentals Web Site ( )

Our office is available for questions and reservations 9-2 Monday - Friday.

If we are unavailable when you call, leave us a message or send us an e-mail.

We will contact you during normal working hours (9-2 Monday - Friday)

CALL US FOR SERVICE 24 / 7 (800) 610-0020

If you are having a problem, we will return your call within 15 minutes. A local contact with local knowledge helps provide safety and security not available from someone 500 miles away. If you have a question or problem, call us any time night or day.

Why Jessie chose Anderson

If you find the same house available the same dates, advertised at a lower price, show us the ad and we will match it. We accept any standard form of payment including most major credit cards. Always be wary of prices quoted on the internet that seem 'Too good to be true'

We automatically guarantee our rentals and you don't pay any extra fee.

Some agencies and/or owners have an extra charge for just about everything. Some even charge extra to furnish linens. With Mountain Lakes there are NO hidden mandatory charges.

Should you arrive and find that the home you chose it is not right for you FOR ANY REASON, we will arrange for you to transfer to another available home with no moving charges. All we ask is that you call us within 2 hours of your arrival.

What makes this house unique

Most rentals 'By Owner' add a cleaning fee of $50-$150, with Mountain Lakes the cleaning is always included in the published price.

EXTRA FEES: We have NO automatic mandatory charges.

PETS: In many of our houses (But not all) you have the option of bringing along your pet. We do charge extra for pets. Generally the charge is $75 per pet plus tax. Pets are usually limited to two per house. Be sure to inquire about bringing pets to the house you are renting. AND please be sure to tell us that you are bringing a pet when you make the reservation.

GARBAGE: We ask that you take your trash out when you leave. For many of our guests, it is routine to throw their trash bags in their boat when they are leaving the lake. If this is not convenient for you, feel free to leave the trash bags for the maid to take. If you do so, we ask that you leave the maid a suggested tip of $5 per bag.

Both GA & SC place the burden of paying Sales and Accommodations Taxes on the consumer, whether or not these taxes are collected by the Cabin Owner. We collect and pay these taxes so you don't have to. Taxes range from 7% to 12% depending on location and are INCLUDED in our posted rate. You will never get a bill “Out of the blue” for unpaid taxes on our rentals.

Mixed Feelings On This House

  • 3 of 5

While the house was big and the air conditioning worked, it is in very poor condition. There was a huge tarp over the roof & the inside ceiling of the main room was peeling and falling off. The Bosch Tankless Water Heater for the showers/bath was woefully inadequate for a nice bath - I had to heat water in the one large pan to take a bath- & I only did it once. Taking a shower with 125 degree water is uncomfortable and not fun. So after a day outside playing in the lake with sunscreen, bug spray etc. on, taking a lukewarm shower wasn't pleasant. The back of the house was in desperate need of paint - it has all peeled off & the bay windows in the dining room were in serious need of care outside. It seems like the house gets only minimal care. The table skirt in the master bedroom was covered with dust & a stain. The bases of the toilets were filthy. The kitchen was poorly stocked for truly cooking. No measuring cups, no colander, one small pan & one large one. I had to borrow my daughters pans & measuring stuff. However, the bed was comfortable, the A/C did work, there are great TV's available, they provide plenty of towels, and we truly appreciated bringing our little dogs. I would have given 4 stars had the shower/bath situation been more comfortable. They have a nice washer and dryer set. Mostly we spent our days at our daughters lake house and didn't stay here except at night. The fig trees were AMAZING! They were the saving grace to us regarding the house! I just really like to cook & take a nice bath, and the condition of the house, along with all the dirt I just couldn't give it more than 3 stars.

Thanks goodness it was cheap.

  • 3 of 5

If you rent this place, make sure you have all the information you need well in advance of traveling. The management company was useless and flippant. They ignored several calls, chats, emails to try and find out how to get the key. Further, there was clearly an issue with the roof as there was a huge tarp stretched over it, and all the paint on the ceiling was falling off. It appeared that no one had given this place an ounce of attention in years. Bushes were overgrown onto the porch. Windows and doors were faulty and wouldn't close properly.

That all being said, you won't have a care in the world of hurting this place. You can't. And the location on the lake and near shops was excellent. Somebody should buy this place, tear it down, and build a new one. Great lot. Great location.
