About Joanne Cullen
We both grew up on the south shore of Boston Massachusetts. We are blessed with a beautiful family and two houses on the Altantic coast. We love the ocean, outdoor activities, live music and spending time with family.
Joanne Cullen purchased this House in 2013
Why Joanne Cullen chose Charleston
We fell in love with Folly Beach on our first visit and made a plan to some day own a home here. We have worked really hard and finally made this dream a reality. We look forward to our retirement when we can live at Terns Nest all winter and escape the cold and snow in the north.
What makes this House unique
The abundant green gardens around the house, the lush marshes across the street, the beautiful, majestic tree in the front yard all sold me before I set foot inside Terns Nest. Inside, the open floor plan, warm welcoming kitchen and fireplace all stole my heart. I hope you love it as much as we do.

Our stay was ideal. Owners were accommodating when we needed to check earlier. The place was clean and enough space for everyone. Would stay here again if needed.
Location was great. Condition of unit was poor.
Disappointed to see that many items from previous reviews not addressed. Dishwasher did work, but items sighted in previous reviews still in need of repair. Bathrooms had multiple cracks in tile. 1st bath had towel bar coming out of wall, shower curtain rod was rusted and toilet whistled after flushing. Holes in wall from previous hung items. Exhaust fan groaned when running. The exhaust fan in the master bathroom had a lot of lint on the vents. The carpet in master bathroom/bedroom had big stains and it was difficult to feel comfortable walking barefoot. The kitchen was beautiful and we found the living area very comfortable. The grout in many of the tiles of the kitchen floor was missing/crumbled. There were bugs in the chandelier hanging over the space in front of the sliding glass doors of the kitchen which were still missing at least half of the verticle blind slats even though this was cited as in issue in the spring of 2017. The bar stools looked great in the pictures, but in real life had a lot of stains and we used them as coat racks. I was amazed to find that all of the light switches had dirt & grime on them. All of the olive green bathroom towels had large areas where stain removal efforts left discolored areas. When I grabbed what looked like a newer towel and assumed it would be problem free, I got a face/mouthful of human and cat hair when I used it. These were the major issues and I don't want to continue at the risk of appearing nit picky. We enjoyed our week for a variety of reasons, but this unit has opportunities for improvement. I am being honest to this degree because I think the owner deserves to know that the property management company being used is not taking care of this house and they deserve to know. We saved a lot of money compared to other rentals which was great. If we had paid more for this unit I would be extremely disappointed and looking for reparations.
Nice location. Quiet
Great home quiet and convenient to everything. Needs minor repairs but overall very pleased
Nice house, but quite a few minor maintenance items that need to be addressed .
Pleasant house, but the dishwasher was moldy when we got there, causing the entire house to smell. Turns out the dishwasher wasn’t working, notified owner who apologized for the inconvenience, no dish pan to hand wash, which we did all week.
This odor combined with the fresh paint smell were pretty obnoxious. I appreciate the painting to keep the place up, but think we should have been notified, my daughter had to go to urgent care for respiratory problems.
The vertical blinds in the living room were missing more than half the slats, affording no privacy in that room.
The mattress pad on the queen bed was shredded.
Couldn't find a way to plug the tubs for baths.
Directions for which switches control what would help.
The walkway to the parking area needs lighting.
The exhaust fan in one bathroom only worked occasionally, made enough noise to wake up grandkids.
These problems could all be addressed in a day, making for a much nicer stay, and a higher rating.
Perfect location to get to Folly and Charleston
It was perfect for what we needed
