About Natalie and Michael
We are Los Angeles natives. We loved living in Eagle Rock for 10 years, we raised three children in the neighborhood and enjoyed all the tasty restaurants, and fun bars. The north of Colorado section of Eagle Rock has a real neighborhood feel to it, while being extremely convenient to so many freeways! We travel a lot and know what makes a comfortable, easy, rental.
Natalie and Michael purchased this House in 1998
Why Natalie and Michael chose Eagle Rock
We love the cottage that has now become a furnished rental! The cottage was a non furnished long term rental for 10 years before we decided to completely remodel the kitchen, furnish it and make it what it is today - a wonderful oasis for people discovering LA on vacation or in town for work. Everyone who has ever lived here has loved it. We hope you will too!
What makes this House unique
Extremely quiet area, so much sun light, tons of privacy, optimal convenience for getting around massive LA, and owned by people who cherish it, this cottage is a true oasis to come home to after a long day of being a tourist or working. We really believe this!!

Nice, private apartment in quiet neighborhood
This apartment is located in a quiet neighborhood, but is close to main roads, stores, and restaurants. I made this trip alone, and always felt very safe, even at night. The whole apartment was clean, and there were plenty of kitchen and pantry supplies. There are several steps leading up to the main entrance from the street, and there are steps inside the apartment into the living room. The steps weren't a problem for me, though I did have some heavy luggage, but it is something other guests might like to be aware of. If the weather is nice, guests will enjoy spending time in the front patio or the one in the back, as they are both very private and have outdoor furniture. Unfortunately, the weather was unusually cold during my stay, so I was not able to enjoy those amenities. The apartment does have space heaters one can use (inside, of course) during cold snaps, but they are a bit difficult to use in the bathroom, as it is smallish. Definitely a place I would stay at again during spring, summer, and fall, though I might opt for something with central heat during the winter.
Thank you for your thoughtful review! It is the first time in 5 years that more heat was needed, we appreciate the heads up! We look forward to welcoming you on your next LA visit!
This cute cottage has charm, we thoroughly enjoyed walking in the neighborhood, to coffee and restaurants. You are minutes from every freeway, so this made visiting family and friends easier. We would go back and stay there.
I am happy that our cottage was a good fit for you! It is indeed very conveniently located, I once counted that we were within 5 minutes of 5 freeways! Without hearing or seeing any of them! Thank you for the advice on how to make the cottage even better, we truly appreciate thoughtful and grateful guests like you! We look forward to hosting you in the future!
The house is well ,maintained and very comfortable -- delightfully quiet with a wonderful patio.
This house was perfect for us -- a very comfortable bed/bedroom and a better-than-adequate living-room/dining-room. The kitchen had everything we needed. The house was clean and well-maintained throughout.
The neighborhood is established, quiet, and safe. We took numerous strolls both morning and evening. This part of Los Angeles can be very hot in the summer; however the two air conditioners worked very well to keep the house comfortable, even on 90-degree days. We particularly loved the front patio: it has comfortable chairs and is cool in the mornings, we regularly enjoyed our morning coffee there. The kitchen was not only well-equipped, but also spotless.
Natalie and Michael, the owners, were very attentive to our before-arrival questions, even down to the location and hours of the nearby drop-off laundromat.
We will certainly stay there again; we recommend the cottage highly and without reservation.
An added note: If you're not familiar with Eagle Rock, it's a gem of a neighborhood in Los Angeles, nestled between Pasadena, Highland Park, Mount Washington, and Glendale. The main streets -- Colorado Blvd. and Eagle Rock Blvd. -- still have many of the same restaurants that were there 50+ years ago, as well as some very nice newer ones. Pasadena, close by, has some wonderful museums: the Huntington Gardens/Library/Museum (world-class), the Norton Simon Museum (nationally recognised art collection with superb travelling exhibitions), and the Gamble House (regionally famous Arts-and-Crafts "mansion").
Thank you Steve for your detailed and positive review! You describe life in Eagle Rock better than I ever could! We are so happy you enjoyed your stay And we truly appreciate you leaving the house spotless! Please come Again!!
This is a nice place to stay in the Los Angeles area. Quiet at night, a private yard area with aromatic plants and even a lemon tree in the back. Would definitely visit again.
