North of the city, in the tranquil part of the Island, this cottage on 'Turtle Beach' is a wonderful place for your dream vacation. The Barrier Reef that shields the island is just off shore and provides calm waters for you to relax beside or to enjoy the many colorful species of fish just below the crystal clear waters of the Caribbean. The water is very shallow and perfect for swimming in. Sit on the edge of our pier and soak up the calm beauty.
This unit is one of 2 onsite Cottages at Turtle Beach that share the property. This executive 1-bedroom Cottage, has its own wrap around porch perfect for lazing around and enjoying a morning coffee or a late afternoon nap (the unit can accommodate up to 4 people). Or you may choose to kick it up a notch and explore all that beautiful Belize has to offer; including, but not limited to, snorkeling, diving the 'Blue Hole', fishing, exploring the many Maya Ruins, cave tubing, or zip lining through the jungle to name a few. We can help you arrange all tours in advance. Please let us know and we would be happy to help.
The cottage comes complete with 2 air conditioners (bedroom and living-room), 3 ceiling fans, queen bed with fresh linen, dresser, closet with hangers, security safe (large enough for iPads, 15 inch laptop computers etc.), modern style granite kitchen complete with stainless steel fridge and stove and drinking water cooler, dishes, utensils, pots and pans, coffee maker, toaster, microwave, living room with 40 inch flat screen TV, DVD player, sofa, (sofa bed will be supplied if there are additional guests), table, chairs and plenty of books to read. Wi-Fi rechargeable card is available (nominal fee for data used). There is a modern indoor bathroom complete with sink, toilet, shower and hot and cold running water from our fresh water well. Also, the outside porch has plenty of seating for relaxation.
Things to know about where you are:
The distance from San Pedro Town to the cottages is 8 miles North a short golf cart ride, or a short boat ride by water taxi. Most guests prefer a golf cart rental which we can arrange for you in advance. It makes exploring the island that more adventurous. If you would like one arranged for you, just ask.
Things to bring from home:
Swim trunks, flip fops, snorkel gear, suntan lotion, mosquito repellant and a care free relaxed attitude! Also for those avid fisherman, this is a great spot for fly fishing for Bonefish (Albula vulpes), Tarpon, and Permit fish (Trachinotus falcatus) right off the pier, so bring your gear.
Things you may wish to purchase in San Pedro:
There are restaurants in near-by resorts. One notable mention would be John's Escape on the way to town. They offer take-out Pizzas and other great food and drinks. We recommend that you bring or purchase groceries for at least 1 day after you arrive. The fresh fruit here is excellent and we highly recommend the Mango, Papaya, and Dragon Fruit. Note that you do not need to buy drinking water since we provide you with a 5 gallon jug of water which can be refilled for a small fee and there is filtered fresh well water available on site for showers and washing. Please note that fresh fish and lobster can be bought off our pier from the local fisherman (ask the caretaker if you wish to purchase some).
Notes about the on-site caretaker:
We have an on-site caretaker staying in another smaller cottage at the back of the property. He is your contact to help you with your questions and help you have a great stay with us!

I was very unhappy with the location.
I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental.
Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental.
This vacation rental looked great on the internet. But for every positive that the place had there were multiple negatives that left a bad impression in our minds. The views are amazing. But the insects are so bad you cannot enjoy the outdoors. We ended up spending many afternoons and nights inside to avoid being bitten. The beach ad water look wonderful. But you can't swim off of the beach. And the end of the pier is only in 2-3 ft of water. And most days the trash, litter and grasses made it not comfortable to swim in. You have seclusion and privacy. But you are so removed from the town and grocery shopping and amenities that it is very inconvenient an expensive to go ad do your grocery shopping.
A little bit of heaven!
My husband and I just returned from an 18 day stay. The owners are super nice as is the caretaker Emilio. They also own Turtle Cove Boutique Resort about 4 miles away. We had dinner at the resort restaurant "Johns Escape Bar" and it was so nice. The food was delicious and the service was fantastic. We highly recommend eating there.
The house was very cute but we felt it needed some updating. That being said, it is placed on a charming lot with a fantastic view of the ocean. It has a nice dock with cabana which is where we relaxed every morning and afternoon after we got back from snorkeling the reef straight out from the dock. We used the kayak which is kept at the cottage to paddle out (to just before the breakers)to the reef and spent hours each day snorkeling it was awesome!!!! We purchased the full face masks to take with us and had our own fins also. Wow it's so beautiful!! We also went to Mexico Rocks and Hol Chan reserve. We used "No Worries" tours and they picked us up right at our dock both times.
We also bought all our groceries online from Mata Grande grocery store a couple of weeks before our trip and they delivered them the day we arrived. In hindsight I probably would have just bought them from Rachids grocery store in town the day we arrived because we rented our golf cart from him ( Road Runner golf cart rentals) and he had a person lead us out to the cottage with another golf cart so we would have had plenty of room for everything.
Rachid was fantastic , very friendly and nice to work with. We actually brought some things with us, coffee, peanut butter, some cans of tuna, granola bars, nuts, brands that we knew would not be available there. We spent $500.00 in groceries for the 18 days.
Also don't forget your bug spray with deet and a first aid kit.
This cottage is quite some distance outside of town and travel is by golf cart, unpaved road with lots of sizable pot holes. We didn't travel around much which was ok with us we really just wanted to snorkel and chill. So it was perfect for us but I would not bring small children to this location.
Emilio the caretaker was so nice and helped us with the kayak and told us where to paddle to etc. We were so glad he was there as this location is remote and we were not familiar with the island.
The air conditioning in the cottage worked really well and they provided us with plenty of water. We had an awesome vacation. Everyone we met there was very nice.
Thank you so much for your excellent review Jeannine! We are so glad that you had a great stay! We sincerely enjoy helping great families build incredible memories together. Please let me know when we can help you again! All the best, Brian, Ronald, Emilio and Becca
Truly worth being off the beaten path
My boyfriend and I recently returned a from beautiful 8 days in the green cottage at Turtle Bay. I want to start off by stressing that this easily a 40-45 minute commute from town via a golf cart on 50% unpaved roads. However, both my boyfriend and I agreed that it was completely worth the commute to be in such a quiet, private and tranquil area of San Pedro. We decided to rent a golf cart to be able to commute into town for groceries and just for the sake of independence (which I highly reccomend). Brian was super helpful with setting up the golf cart rental, getting us connected with No Worries Tours for excursions on the island and inland. Even before we made it to the island and were looking into rentals he was a great resource and always responded to my questions in a timely manner. The cottage was super clean and sits on a well kept sandy beach with access to a pier where you can fish, hop in a kayak or just hang out and watch the fish and sting rays swim by. The caretakers on the property were outstanding. We had clean towels or linens whenever we needed them, the cottage was cleaned several times throughout the week. Plus they were wonderful neighbors! There were several bars or resorts walking distance just north and south of Turtle Bay which was nice if we wanted to walk down/up the beach instead of getting into the golf cart however we spent most of our time cooking at home which was easily done in kitchen with pretty much all the tools we needed! We got some of the best sleep of our lives thanks to a comfortable bed, dark star filled skies and the complete silence except for the occasional bird after sunrise. If you are looking to party and bar hop every day, this unit is probably not for you. However if you enjoy the quiet of a private beach and are looking to relax and slow down, this place is for you. We highly recommend snorkeling the beautiful reef and visiting Cookie at John's Escape Bar and Grill for hands down the best Frozen Coconut Mojito on the island. Special thanks to Brian for a worry free vacation! We hope to be back again in the future!
Absolutely gorgeous, peaceful Property!
After an extremely busy year, tranquility and quietness is what my wife and I were after. This place was exactly what we needed and more than we expected! The overall trip was the best I have ever had! The owners were extremely professional, yet laid-back and extremely easy to deal with. They also own and manage turtle Cove and John's escape bar and Grill. The food at John's bar and grill was phenomenal. Highly recommend this!!!
Quiet, relaxing beach retreat!
We stayed here for over a week and found it to be a very relaxing get away. Overall from the initial contact with Brian, the property owner, we were able to plan our trip easily. Brian was quick to answer our questions as they would pop up before we arrived. Upon arriving in Ambergris Caye - Mario was helpful in getting us from the airport, to the store and then to the water taxi to the property. Once we got to Turtle Beach - David was so helpful during our entire stay. He would check on us as needed, ready to assist with whatever - water, toilet paper, where to go, etc. The property was clean and well tended by Vera (their cleaning person) a few times during out stay to make sure we had fresh towels and such.
Some things that are helpful - this cottage is definitely ideal for a quiet retreat. There is not a whole lot to do from the property and the closest restaurant is La Beliza (they do breakfast/lunch/dinner)- which is one dock (5 min walk) down. We bought the Coast Express Golden Pass and that ensured we could be picked up at our dock when we called and taken anywhere along the route. We definitely found ourselves hopping the Coastal Express daily and heading into town or to some of the great spots a little closer to the cottage (John's Escape Bar, Rojo Bar, X'Tan Ha, and others). It definitely gave us the balance of having activity and downtime.
All in all - it was very nice to get up, make coffee, sit outside and just read or nap in the hammock. We rented kayaks so we would paddle out to the reef right from the beach. We truly enjoyed staying at this Cottage. We appreciated that Brian and David made us feel so welcome during our time in Belize.
