Why leif elias chose Vieques Island

We found the island of Vieques when our daughter decided to get married here in 2007. We just fell in love with Esperanza, the charming old fishing village seemed like the perfect place for our retirement. The island has so much to offer, beautiful pristine beaches, nightlife, and culture.

What makes this house unique

The close proximity, 1/2 mile, to the Malecon's beaches, Shops, and Restaurants is the reason that we fell in love with our house. We think you will too!

Small, simple and well kept! Excellent proximity to wonderful restaurants, beaches, and beautiful beach side walks :). Had all the basic amenities that one would need for a night or two stay!

Comfortable and convenient. Great stay!

  • 5 of 5

We loved staying at this property in Esperanza! We enjoyed visiting with Bruno and solving the world's problems.

This house is conveniently located just off the Malecon and main strip and so close to the Caribbean. I have a hip problem so I was hesitant about walking a lot, like to the beach, the grocery/bakery, restaurants, etc. but found it was really a breeze from this location.

We loved our visit and plan to go back. Thank you for your hospitality, Bruno.

Perfect home away from home with our 5 year old son!!

  • 5 of 5

This property was amazing! We stayed for a week and didn't want to leave. My husband and I brought our 5 year old son and he loved it! My son's favorite thing about this property were the hammocks. Ha! There is one in the living room and one in the front yard by the table. During our stay he saw lizards and even a humming bird in the front yard. Everything was very clean and well-maintianed. The bed had more than enough pillows, which I always love. The whole yard is fenced in, so I never had to worry about my son walking out into the street or away from the property. The property owners, Bruno and Nancy were really helpful and gave us plenty of info for things to do and places to see during our visit. They live in a seperate unit above the property, but we had the front yard to ourselves, and had plenty of privacy. We were conveniently located near 2 grocery stores, so we made our breakfast every morning before we left to explore. The grocery stores were within walking distance so my husband was able to walk over and pick up whatever we needed. They had all the dishes needed to make a meal. They also had a Jeep we were able to rent and they were really flexible with us on the days we wanted to rent it. It was really nice to have the option to rent their jeep whenever we wanted to go farther than walking distance for our son. They even had a cooler in the rental we would pack up with snacks and drinks to take with us for the day. The days we didn't rent the jeep, Bruno gave us ideas of places to explore nearby. About a half-block's distance is a bar/restaurant called Lazy Jacks. We stopped by there often for a beer and their pizza or tacos. There are plenty of reastaurants within a few blocks of the property. Upon talking to Bruno about activities one day, we found out he was playing with his reggae band at a restaurant nearby so we checked it out and had a blast! On the weekend, (a few blocks away) down by the pier we found food trucks (try the alpacurrias), someone who chopped up coconuts to drink out of (coco frio), and a truck carrying a bunch of orange coolers with helados naturales (a cold treat similar to italian ice, but has a smoother texture). Also, on a side note, I found the free Vieques Travel app on my phone really helpful for looking up beaches and activities. Thank you, Nancy and Bruno for such a great stay! Our son will not stop talking about it. We hope to come back and visit again!

A great get away from the cold weather!

  • 4 of 5

The house was adequate...nothing fancy, but all we needed. Met our expectations for our budget! Bruno and Nancy were friendly and helpful, but gave us our own space. The location was great, easy walk to the Malecon and all the restaurants. Our favorite "happy hour" location was Bananas as they had very good fish tacos and margaritas. We really enjoyed our nice dinner at Bili's - food was excellent. Good breakfast at Bellybuttons!

Our favorite activities were just enjoying the beaches....but we also rented a kayak one day and a scooter one day, both very fun!

Thanks for a fun time away!!

Quaint house in the middle of Esperanza

  • 5 of 5

I was in Vieques for my sisters wedding. Beautif island and great to talk to a few locals. Bruno made our stay very relaxing. He offered Bikram yoga in his yoga Pagoda. His property is wonderful! Feels like you're separate from the bustle but yet very close. Only steps away from the main strip in Esperanza and so many restaurants and be he's are within walkable distance. Bruno was a great host. He told us where good breakfast places are too. Would highly recommended his property!
