Les Archives Apartment Rental Photos and Description

Apartment, 1 Bedroom, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2)

Located in the heart of the historical and fashionable Marais district, this comfortable, well-lit apartment is in a 1930’s building with elevator on the French third, American fourth floor. Three tall windows, one in the bedroom, two in the living room, make the apartment bright and cheerful. The comfortable living room is tastefully furnished with period furniture and artifacts, dining table and chairs for six, valuable old prints, attractive drapes, and blue wall to wall carpet. Stereo system, television, and telephone.

The kitchenette, against one wall of the living room, is hidden from view by a tasteful curtain. It is equipped with small dishwasher, two-burner cooktop, electric oven, and half-size refrigerator. The bedroom has twin beds with an elegant canopy. Modern bathroom has new shower, washbasin, toilet, hair dryer, and good, well-lit mirror. Quality linens provided.

The apartment is located a few feet from the Place des Vosges, a lovely, historical, planted square, bordered with 17th century brick mansions. This is the heart of the fashionable Marais neighborhood. Once a wealthy area in the seventeenth century, the grand mansions from this era contribute to the areas charm and character. Many of these buildings have been restored and converted to museums. Among these are the Carnavalet, with exhibits that trace the history of Paris from Roman times, and the Musée Picasso. The Marais is full of interesting boutiques, antique shops, small squares, and restaurants. Also of interest is the Rue des Rosiers, the Jewish quarter, which contains synagogues, kosher restaurants, and bakeries.

Guestbook comments from the manager

Just wanted to thank you for the wonderful month I spent at 6 Rue du Pas des la Mule! What a special time of my life.

I'll definitely look forward to renting another apartment from you on my next trip to Paris, though I'll try to book far enough in advance (and not when the world rugby finals are happening!) to get something a little larger, and maybe on just a little quieter street! But I love the Marais, and it was great to get to know it so well. I felt very comfortable and snug (and safe) in the flat, and it was outfitted very nicely. Marie Noel was wonderful.

Thank you again, so much, can't wait to contact you again! Wishing you Happy Holidays, Robin

Escape from the ordinary...

  • 4 of 5

I reside in the Marais, but my home was overtaken by my in-laws for 3 weeks in September. I was lucky to find this apartment, which is very near my place, and used it as a "hide-out" when I needed to get away from my family! The location, just steps from Place des Vosges, is excellent - you can easily reach any part of the city by nearby Metro, bus or walking. The apartment is very bright and airy, and spacious for a 1-bedroom in Paris. There is a small kitchenette, for those wanting a snack, but I only used the fridge, since we were dining out most of the time.

The street can be a little noisy, due to traffic and the cafe across the way, but this is normal in Paris. Around midnight, everything becomes very quiet. There was no noise problem when I closed the double-glazed windows, and I slept well on one of the comfortable twin beds. There was a minor power outage in the neighborhood, which caused some problems with the cable and WiFi, but Marie-Noel worked like a trouper to re-establish connections as quickly as possible, which was much appreciated.

I would recommend this apartment to visitors needing a good jumping-off point for their exploration of Paris. The building and the neighborhood are safe and very well-situated, and there are numerous cafes and shops nearby. Definitely recommend a visit to Gerard Mulot, the patisserie on the ground floor - fatally delicious!
