Overview

About the property

2 BR 2 Bath, great views and privacy

This unique house is a one of a kind landmark built in the 1960s by a local school teacher, Ron Crandall and his family. The house is built entirely out of recycled building materials salvaged from the greater bay area. Windows from Victorian mansions sit next to massive timbers from shipyards and cobblestones pulled from the pre-internet era streets of San Francisco. Inspired by farmhouses and wineries from the Brittany region of France, but also designed to echo the surrounding bays, hills and the shadow of Mt. Tamalpais it sits in, the Panoramic House will stick in your minds eye long after you've left it.

The current owners bought the house in 2013 and carefully upgraded it while staying true to the original vision for the property. Local Stinson Beach builders Woodworking West headed up the work on the house and carefully blended new and vintage recycled building materials. The kitchen for instance features all new appliances and a Wolf range, but blends in perfectly with the original hand built wood burning oven made from vintage terra cotta castings.

Every room in the house features amazing views of Stinson Beach and the Bolinas bay and lagoon. On a clear day, you can see Pt. Reyes in the distance. There is a seasonal creek on the property, three decks to enjoy the outdoor views and a separate small cottage for additional guests. A short walk takes you to the famous Dipsea trail and down into town and the beach. Deer, bobcats, birds and more are frequent visitors. Moreover as the current owners are musicians, the house is filled with musical instruments and art. This property is the perfect place for an artist or musician to retreat, recharge and create.

About Owner/Property Manager

John Baccigaluppi and Robert Lurie are friends and business associates based in California and New York who met through their shared love of surfing and music. At some point, in between surf sessions in Bolinas and Montauk and recording sessions in NYC and CA, the idea of 'Wouldn't it be amazing if we had a place we could play music and surf on the coast,' became a reality and we're grateful to be able to share it with our family, friends and you.

Owner/Property Manager purchased this house in 2013

Why Owner/Property Manager chose San Francisco Bay Area

We looked at quite a few houses in Stinson Beach and Bolinas, but once we saw this house, we couldn't get it out of our minds as it is so unique.

Holiday Heaven

  • 5 of 5

We convened our family for a fabulous winter holiday in this amazing home. We were primed to love it because owner John (and his gracious wife) were super prompt and helpful pre-arrival. It is hard to convey how unique and special and quirky (definitely in a good way) it is. It takes your breath away from the driveway: the castle, I mean, house is perched on a large piece of property above the ocean with views for miles! The home itself is the work of a genius do-it-yourselfer (part of the fun was discovering repurposed architectural stuff throughout) enhanced by a recent renovation. Windows galore, decks in every direction, a fabulous kitchen with high end appliances and cookery. Spacious and comfortable, with so many nooks for our group of six to spread out. I thought I would mind not having a fireplace but honestly, I would take that floor to ceiling view of the ocean any day. The Dipsea Trail is very close by. Just a little bit further away is the town of Stinson Beach and the rest of the Marin coastline. Stunning! We look forward to another visit during the warm months!

Slice of heaven

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed at John's place for his birthday weekend. What can I say . . .we ended up staying one more night than planed! John did a great job of communicating with us about all of the particulars of the place before I sent a check. The home is as described . . .TRULY INCREDIBLE VIEWS! The kitchen was amazing and the decks phenomenal. If you are not a musician do keep in mind that you are sharing the living room with many instruments but the place is big enough for both. We will definitely be back!
