I'm thinking the best description of me for your purposes as potential guests appears in the reviews! I'm someone who is just here being incredibly grateful to live in this gorgeous, quiet, nature-filled spot on the Chesapeake Bay; to have this opportunity to share it with others; and to have connected through and [just recently] VRBO with such lovely people. I'm always thrilled to see how much these individuals, couples, and families enjoy staying here, and am hoping that what they have said about me will tell you what you need to know. I am thrilled that my 2 friends and I partnered together to buy the cottage next door to me to extend our my ability to share this really special spot with larger groups (and dogs!) Beyond that.... I will be very happy to answer any questions you may have about my diverse interests and pursuits, as well as the travel destinations I am currently exploring. The most recent was taking our adopted daughter back to see China, her birthland, with a quick stop in Germany on the way home! Finally, I love my OTHER work as a life/author-coach, for which I'm close to being Certified as a facilitator of The Work of Byron Katie, a simple, predictable way to turn our most stressful situations into highly creative solutions and greater peace each time! Very cool.
Shawn purchased this Bungalow in 2013
Why Shawn chose Cape Anne
We set a nice low price for this solid little yellow stucco cottage until folks get to know it's here, and because we will continue making it better and better over time! So far, everyone has LOVED it, and one couple is bringing their extended family back for Thanksgiving after their first visit less than one month earlier. This bright yet cozy cottage has a queen-sized bedroom that shares a charming tub/shower with the room that has a full sized bed. Then there is also another queen-sized bed in a room that is a bit more separate from the others, and has it's own small bath with shower only (with gorgeous new tile job and fixtures that we just finished in the renovation!). Finally, there is an L-shaped Ikea couch that easily becomes a queen-sized bed or huge chaise lounge, allowing the cottage to sleep a total of 8 (if the last 2 are OK to be in the living room). You'll have your own space with a waterfront lawn, pier, use of a huge screened porch with gas and charcoal bbq at Shawn's house next door, gas bbq at the cottage, outdoor table and chairs, lounge chairs, two firepits, two single kayaks. one two-seater ocean kayak, and a canoe,. You'll have two acres to play on or explore, nearby walks through woods or by Chesapeake Bay, country-like setting with plenty of waterfront dining, amenities, and sights nearby. Even though there are five properties at Light Landing, you'll have plenty of privacy and space--it feels much less crowded than lots of neighboring waterfront properties.
What makes this Bungalow unique
Property Updates: The HVAC system is very quiet and efficient for cooling and heating. This is a huge benefit because many cabins and cottages on the Chesapeake don’t have central HVAC. We have operated the cottage for over five years, with stellar reviews, and have served up a variety of personal, group and corporate events (arranged separately from your accommodation booking here). We can help connect you to the people and resources needed to plan a fun, relaxing and memorable time for guests.

Perfect for what we needed.
Everything we needed was here.
Peaceful setting with spectacular sunrises!
We were wanting a quiet, dog-friendly setting to spend Christmas with our daughter in Maryland. It was a very peaceful and private place with spectacular sunrises. The house was fully-equipped with everything you could want. The location was a quick drive to Annapolis where we visited some historic landmarks and enjoyed walking the downtown shops. Closer to the house are some lovely little waterfront communities with fun restaurants. We also found a few places to do some easy hiking in the woods. All in all, a lovely trip!
Very nice waterfront cottage
A group of us (three 60+ ladies) stayed at this cottage for a long weekend. Although the weather wasn't perfect, we really enjoyed the water view! The cottage had everything we needed - lots of paper goods and cooking implements!
All the other reviews talked about how friendly the owner is, but we never saw her/him? There was a lot of activity at the house next door (which we assumed was the owners), which did not bother us at all. The only disconcerting thing was a verbal altercation on Saturday afternoon, lots of loud "cuss" words thrown about and then a lot of police activity next door. Not sure what was going on, but we were a little nervous for a while. It all seemed to end well, so not a reason for us to downgrade our review!
Great place to stay, kayak and play games with the kids.
Explore Local > Less than 3 minute drive to Deale, MD where you can get groceries, eat, fish, sail, do water sports and more local activities. Sailing destinations Galesville and Rosehaven, with great waterfront restaurants are all close by, and historic Annapolis is just a scenic 20 minute drive from The Cottage. While there, you can stroll streets from another age, poke into the many shops and restaurants, tour the State House, Naval Academy, or Annapolis harbor, as well as enjoy movies, shopping, and some great parks and nature trails. You are also close to Shadyside, Fairhaven/Friendship, West River, and are located in Churchton.
While it is VERY country-like here, you are less than 4 minutes (66 feet) away from waterfront. Within a short 8-10 minute drive, you will find locally inspired dining options, pharmacy, grocery store, fitness center, gas stations, liquor stores, and the great consignment store our area is known for.
Just over 20 minutes away is historical Annapolis which is a wonderful small Capitol city whose lovely historic district is chock full of shops, restaurants, and pretty streets to walk and admire the culture.
Washington DC, Baltimore, and Old Town Alexandria are all just 50 minutes away. Message me ahead of your departure and I will help provide you with quick routes to take, things to do, and whatever you are looking for locally and in these great cities.
The Washington Area is served by 3 major airports, train access with reasonable bus service from NYC (4 hours). The closest airports are Baltimore, Washington International (BWI) and Washington Reagan (DCA). Dulles airport is do-able, but further out. Public transportation is not available. You will need to have a vehicle to drive to the cottage. All questions are welcome.
