About Sandra Szoke

Our family resides in Charlotte, NC. We're blessed with a large family - - five children, several in college.

Sandra Szoke purchased this cabin in 2013

Why Sandra Szoke chose Blue Ridge Mountains

For many years our family has enjoyed getaways to the North Carolina mountains. With hectic schedules, busy lives, and growing children, our trips to the mountains helped us reconnect, slow down and enjoy each other's company. We relish our time hiking waterfalls, biking along trails, skiing and golfing - - - or simply making s'mores over the fireplace.

We wanted to provide a setting where other couples and families would have an opportunity to relax and reconnect. We hope TimbeRock will bring you, your family and friends a special place to make new memories.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Sandra,

I wanted to take a moment to tell you about our stay in the mountains in your cabin earlier this month.

The cabin itself was everything we had hoped for and a great time was had by all. We tubed on Sugar Mountain and skied on Beech. We ate out at various local establishments and made the trip to Boone. We had deer pass right through the back yard and saw them throughout our travels. We had light snow fall almost every evening. In short our family had a fantastic time and I have already been informed that we need to "do this" every year. Odd for a Florida family!

Thanks again and I hope we left your cabin in satisfactory condition.

Homey Cabin Near Beech Mountain Resort

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at the cabin. There were 3 full bedrooms with 2 adequate baths for multiple families. The property was beautiful and we saw many deer all over the neighborhood and by the cabin. The cabin is in a neighborhood setting and while the lots are large, it is not totally private. Also, the televisions upstairs and down did not work 100%. We have little kids and needed to turn on a movie at one point but the DVD player did not function. Couldn't get the tv in the bedroom to turn on. Not a big deal. Also the coffee maker did not work and we had to buy a new one at the general store up the road. All in all it was a pleasant trip and the resort was great and very close for skiiing, tubing and ice skating. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

Owner's Response: Hi, I'm glad that you enjoyed your trip. Like many cabins on Beech Mountain, there are other homes on the same quaint dirt roads. While not a neighborhood, per se, there are other homes that share the same road as our cabin. Unfortunately cable can go in and out on a windy mountain. Certainly wish it was more predictable. We keep a DVR player at the cabin with a selection of movies for these times. We will double check functions. Regarding the coffee maker, we provide two 1) generic coffee maker 2) Keurig. I'm assuming you are talking about the generic one which we replaced during our visit to the cabin this weekend. We hope you'll visit again soon.

Great spring break destination

  • 5 of 5

Very cute home that we would highly recommend to others. Clean and convenient. We saw deer every day right outside the window. We were within minutes to the Beech Mountain Ski resort. We were late in the season, so almost all of the local restaurants were closed which was a little frustrating. Luckily, we could come home and make our own meals and relax by the fire. We visited Blowing Rock 1 day which is great for shopping, with a stop at Bass lake for a walk. We later visited Linville Falls which is breath-taking. We wanted to visit the "Old Hampton" restaurant as recommended by people we met but it was closed. Next time it's on our to-do list. This home met all the needs of our family. The yard is great for the kids to play and explore. Bring your families here - you won't be disappointed.

Happy Thanksgiving Timber Rock

  • 5 of 5

We loved our Thanksgiving on Beech Mountain. We found the cabin clean with all the things we needed to enjoyed our stay. Descriptions of the location and cabin where right on! We spent Friday in Banner Elk having lunch and visiting the beautiful park and playground. The rest of the time we spent enjoying the fire in the fireplace, eating, playing games, a little football watching, and being with each other. In a perfect world we would spend next Thanksgiving at Timber Rock! Thanks, Susan!
